If all the animal-themed things in your home were real, what animals would you own?

I'd have - several cats, a cheetah, a fox, 3 meerkats, lots of parrots, 2 dgs, 4 elephants, a few garden birds, and a dolphin.

Ducks. The feature on some tiles surrounding the aga and I have a collection of wooden ones in the conservatory. We inherited some mallards with the house but they multiplied quite quickly so I stopped clipping their wings and let them live as nature intended, some got eaten by the fox and others went off to the river.
Horses. Loads of paintings or photos of the horses and ponies we have owned over the years + a few horse themed trophies. My equine owning days are sadly now over.
Dogs. Several paintings or photos of the three border terriers we've owned including a painting of the one who takes me for walks every day, he's in pride of place in the kitchen

I don’t have much in the way of animal themed stuff apart from this glass worktop saver/chopping board. I’ve had a life long love of cows.

I love the face on this brown and white cow. Don’t tell anyone but but I stroke her head while I’m waiting for the kettle to boil 😊

Two elephants brought back from Gambia by my sister, a tiny kangaroo brought back from Australia by my daughter and two cows bought by me because the classic caravan we bought had two cow decals on the roof put there by the previous owner. The elephants are wooden, the kangaroo ceramic and the cows are a salt and pepper set.

Allira Thu 04-Sept-25 15:56:02

Most definitely. Dragons are real!

Siptree Thu 04-Sept-25 16:15:05

2 kingfishers, about 2 dozen small birds, a squirrel, 3 parrots, 5 doves, a few chickens, a dozen geese, a frog, 3 cats, a hare, 2 elephants, a whole flock of swallows, 3 rabbits, a sheep, a cow, a pig. A lot are in pictures and a couple on mugs. Birds outweigh all else.

Cows, cats and an otter. Couldn’t bear to eat a foil wrapped chocolate cow that my son gave me. It’s been standing on my dresser for years, we dread to think what it’s like under the ‘cow’ foil but it’s still fine from the outside.
I have another large china cow, a present from my daughter, on the sitting room mantelpiece and a lovely china Dunoon mug from the cat range. The otter a small ceramic one my Grandson bought for me when he was very young.

Susieq62 Thu 04-Sept-25 16:22:35

A giraffe as it is the drawing left to me by grand daughter who has now emigrated with her parents and sister to Australia ! She adores giraffes so I gave her an adopted one for Christmas !
I would have to keep it at the allotment though !! 🦒
