Good morning from Malta where a high of 33°C is forecast.

Dearest grandMattie my thoughts are with you on this very sad anniversary. May your lovely Philip rest in peace.💐

Had a lovely catch up with my friend yesterday. We chatted over coffee for hours and it did both of us good.

My dental appointment in the afternoon was far less drastic than I’d imagined!

Having geared myself up for having the offending tooth removed, I was delighted to know that only a small bit of it had broken off but the filling had also come out so all it took was a very quick and efficient replacement of the filling. I didn’t even need an anaesthetic injection as the tooth had a root treatment years ago so I didn’t feel a thing and bounced out of the surgery full of joy only for a bird to poop on my hair!😄

I had stripped off into my nightie when there was a little knock on the door and there stood DD3 and my two treasures, one of whom was fast asleep having had a tiring afternoon at nursery.

They stayed quite a while and, as always, I loved having their company.

I had decided not to get up in the night to watch the tennis but, for some reason, I woke at around 3am so decided I may as well watch it. It was not a long match so back to bed I came and slept for another couple of hours.

I need to do a few jobs around the house and I ought to go and do some shopping but will see if I can be bothered.

It’s our village festa coming up on the 8th so there’s a lot of activities in the village and a lot of noisy petards being let off.
Fortunately Bertie is not bothered by the bangs. Dear Buzz used to be terrified and would take refuge in my en-suite.😢

Sorry for the long ramble. Wishing you all a good day ☀️

Good morning from a bright 11 degrees Cambridgeshire. We are forecast rain until 11 though and then a sunny afternoon.

Yesterday I was busy all day doing housework and sorting out the DGC’s toys and games and books. I always find the beginning of September an urge to clean through and declutter. A new season. The same happens to me in March!

Today I’m off to Pilates a new term starts and get the cases from the loft to start packing to go away.

Take care everyone and have the best day possible. Lots of ups and downs for many 🤗

Good morning from a sunny Suffolk although rain forecast later. It’s my stretch class again and then a visit to the dentist for a scale and polish. I had such hard treatment at my previous dentist that my lovely new dentist does this herself.

Madeleine we love Muker and remember the Farmers’Arms from decades ago when the beer was served directly from the wooden barrels.

Hope all have a good day especially for those who have sad memories or other worries.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a very wet morning in Cheshire. I have been absent from this thread after spilling a mug of tea on my computer. It has been declared irreparable. Only myself to blame, but now getting used to a new laptop and having to put in new passwords etc.

I was actually lucky not to get scalded, so just got to get used to this technology.

Have a good day everyone. I shall now go and read the thread. Specially kind thoughts to all with worries. flowers

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle. What a change from yesterday when it rained all day until late afternoon. From then on heavy showers with the occasional glint of sun.
Needlesss to say, it was an indoor day. I put together the remaining raised bed and hope to get them installed today.
In the afternoon, I wrestled with a visa application which left me fuming with the bureaucratic idiocy of it.

Today, I have a Tesco delivery, a visit from the window cleaner who sensibly didn't come yesterday and then I must chase an insurance claim which is taking a vast amount of time to settle. I hate having to chase people. I had to do it yesterday as a vital prescription I'd put in a week before still hadn't been fulfilled. It was the surgery, they'd been sitting on it for all that time, why?! Now it's reached the pharmacy, I have to have it by the weekend so I hope they know it's urgent or it will be more chasing.

I can hardly believe it's been 4 years since you lost your Philip, grandMattie....what a sad day for you to get through, my thoughts are with you.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, a showery day forecast I think. Yesterday was very showery, with torrential rain at times. I met up with some cousins who are here on holiday from Australia and we had a pleasant lunch and catch up on news etc. there was some confusion about where we were supposed to meet, but it worked out ok eventually! I hadn’t seen them for 16 years so we had all changed a lot in that time!
I was very tired for the rest of the day, didn’t want anything else to eat and went to bed early. I woke up at 3 o’clock coughing but went off again quickly. I think the cough is slowly improving but I’ve pulled a muscle in my chest wall from coughing so much! But I do feel more human today.
A food delivery later and that’s the excitement for today!
Thinking of grandmattie today a quiet day of memories for her.
I haven’t read all the posts yet, will come back when I’m up and dressed and read properly then. I hope all those with medical appointments have helpful conversations! Thinking especially of md, blossoming and I apologise if I’ve missed you from the list!
Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning from the Essex coast. It's dry but cloudy, rain is forecast for later.
I think I probably have Laryngitis again, although the first time for ages.
I'm a bit achy and have very little voice.
Apart from some food shopping I won't be doing a lot today.
S starts college this morning, I hope she copes with all the changes this brings. Her ASD makes her very anxious about anything new.
Youngest DGD starts in year 3 today. I had a picture of her looking very smart in her uniform.
Have the best day you can everyone, best wishes to all xx

Good Morning from Durham, it was overcast, but clearing now and very still.
I’m so pleased that both DGSs are loving school - DGS1 in a new class, while DGS2 is in his first week there.

Yesterday, a friend called for coffee in the morning, his wife isn’t well now, but hanging on. Then, after brief texts with Sis-in-Law, I rushed into Tui and booked us a week in Cyprus later this month, Another friend called mid afternoon and 🥂 was opened!
The new chair for the conservatory was delivered later, but I’ve yet to put the legs on, not just a simple screw in job.

I’ve a relaxed morning today, then this afternoon, the new boiler is being serviced for the first time, so I’m not expecting problems.

💐gM
Hoping for better news from MD

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning, the weather is as Redcar has posted 🌫️☔️

Day 10, and we are once more confined to the kitchen and sitting room (via kitchen door and french doors, not good looking at the weather)

I may take myself off to Lakeside for a mooch round, it will be quieter, less dusty and the toilets do not need the embarrassment of asking a builder to let you out 🤭

A poignant day for you grandMattie 💐

Thinking of my dear penpal 🌸

Good morning from a sunny Suffolk seaside. Rain forecast soon though!

Yesterday was rather frustrating.we need to transfer money for our new wood burner liner which will be installed next Wednesday. No bank in our little town here but a post office that does a lot of different services. A helpful cashier told me the transfer couldn’t be done there but a Bank Hub a walk away would be able to do it and my Bank advisor would be there today.
Off I went and no one else there, so happily told them what I needed to do. Oh no! My bank has pulled out and it can only be done with them 😫. Nearest branch an hours drive away!

Once we get back to (civilisation) Essex, it will be done then.

Our friends came along early evening for food/drinks, which was very matey and we chatted about old times when we all used to caravan here for many years. Sadly our friend with Parkinson’s wasn’t good and they left after a couple of hours.

Today we hope to go to Dunwich for our favourite fish and chips.

Dd sent me pics of my darling DGD (9) battered and bruised after a horrid child had pushed her over. The school hadn’t notified Dd and she has requested a meeting today. It’s really quite bad with both knees badly grazed, a very scraped elbow and a grazed forehead! We’re all furious with the lack of communication. 😡

Then came a photo from ds2 .dil on crutches. Fell and twisted her ankle with a crack! Not broken but badly sprained.
Not a good day for the W family. We must be careful.

Hoping you all have a ‘good’ day 🌼

A late good morning from the south coast. Watery sun shining on a soggy garden. Was it such a sort time ago we were begging for rain? Now it’s biblical!
More cleaning and decluttering today and it’s time to think about a new knitting project. I fancy a black jumper now I no longer have to beware of little white dog hairs. 🥲
Hope everyone has the best possible day. I will now go back and read the posts properly.

GrannySomerset Thu 04-Sept-25 09:02:57

Awaiting the hair dresser, always entertaining and she does an excellent job so feel I am very lucky. Otherwise an office day with money and filing and letter writing to fill the time after a busy first half of the week.

Hope the day is kind to everyone.

harrigran Thu 04-Sept-25 09:05:01

Good morning from an overcast NE, heating is on.
Yesterday we were forecast thunder and rain, it didn't happen.
I went to Sainsbury's and found they had been altering the store, they have installed electronic barriers which kept setting off alarms, the noise was horrible.
SIL is travelling to the UK today, I will probably see him at the weekend when we celebrate GD1's birthday.
Quiet day today, just need to sort recycling.
grandMattie 💐

hollysteers Thu 04-Sept-25 09:07:21

Good morning from a dull northwest coast. Two new windows were fitted yesterday without problems, the sitting room and a bedroom downstairs in this split level bungalow. No more draughts for the winter and a big bill. I don’t enjoy men in the house, but it’s nice when work is done. Now to redecorate the downstairs bedroom, used by DD in the south on her regular visits.

I’m off to have my roots done and will wash out the brown spray before I go. Recent activity has given my missing lymph nodes arm too much to do and it’s aching a lot, I’m trying not to use it.
Thoughts to dear grandmattie today💐 and hope you all have the best day you can🌺

Good morning from a beautiful, crisp autumn day here in the north of Scotland. I am about to fast watch tennis from last night before going brambling.
Just had a phone call from the gp surgery agreeing to a prescription that I should have been given nearly three months ago after a clinic visit. Better late than never but …
Madeleine on your advice I am going to fit in a coffee outside in the sun. I do enjoy your descriptive posts.
I wish I had a magic pill for everyone who has health issues, but send my best wishes.

Feelingmyage55 Thu 04-Sept-25 09:28:44

peli Hello, welcome. I am now googling the birds and butterflies. You bring a bit of the exotic, thank you.

BlueSapphire Thu 04-Sept-25 09:47:35

Good morning everyone from a very wet Northampton, pleased I don't have to go out today. We also had much needed heavy rain yesterday afternoon.

Got quite a bit done yesterday, in fact more than I had planned, as I must have had a rush of blood to the head after lunch and decided to re-arrange the sitting room furniture! It took me most of the afternoon, with much vacuuming of the sofa and chairs. Found a load of cat toys under the sofa, plus a few months worth of dust and crumbs etc.
However I am pleased with the arrangement, and will enjoy my change of sitting places and scenery.

I also contacted a recommended carpet company to sort a new carpet for the second bedroom; they are coming to see me tomorrow, bringing samples, and will measure up and give me a quote. After googling what goes with yellow walls, I think I have decided on a grey carpet.

Also had some on-line retail therapy, ordering some black linen trousers from M&S.... Thought they would be handy for my holiday in Spain next spring.

A Sainsbury's delivery later this morning, and then will see what I fancy doing. May go and pick the M&S order up if it's dry. Home-made cottage pie from the freezer for dinner tonight.

Not read other posts yet and will catch up with news shortly.
Wishing all a pleasant day.

Good afternoon, Michael12 and everyone!

It's 2:37 pm, and absolutely bucketing down again! I love it! The more the merrier!

On a quick work break, so am guzzling a can of Vimto Energy and scoffing a jammy doughnut!

I have off work the 5th, 6th and 7th of September because of extra shifts I've been doing, so it'll be time for snuggling in with hot water bottles, big fluffy throws, my PercyRoboKitten, a can of lager and sleeping as much as possible!

Grammaretto Thu 04-Sept-25 15:32:27

So sorry to frighten you Baubles! 😂🤣
I know someone was going to Denmark on Thursday but not you obviously.
Enjoy Italy x
