I was fortunate enough to get tickets for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham a couple of years ago. There were three sets of athletics, morning, afternoon and evening over several days so thousands of spectators in allocated seats. I sat next to a man I was at school with, not seen him for 45 years. Amazing.
Santa Monica Beach, but I am cheating slightly as it was two students I taught at a school in London. My husband and I were strolling down to the sea when they skated up to us shouting 'Miss', 'Sir'.
Not someone I was at school with, but neighbours/friends we’d lived near for some years, we’d both moved away, but met them in the queue for the Jorvic Centre in York.
Let’s make it more exciting. What’s the one place you’d never meet someone you went to school with. You don’t have to have been there. Just pick a random place.
You’ll have to choose somewhere else then Allira. If we’re trying not to give away identifying details, there can’t be too many people who have an infant school friend in the Grand Canyon.
Not a school friend, but I was living in quite a remote cottage in Cornwall and I went up to London and visited a trade show in Islington. Hundreds of people there and, come lunch time, I went to join a queue for something to eat. I found myself queueing behind the man who lived in a cottage 200 yards further up my lane!
150 miles away from where I went to school the person taking over my old job as I had taken promotion turned out to be from my school. She recognised my unusual name and asked. She was the cleverest person in our year and never in a thousand years did I think she would take my leavings.
Outside the supermarket in Nairobi. She had been in my younger sister's year so we didn't know each other very well. Just said hello and went off to the car park with my shopping and never saw her again so she was probably visiting someone.
