Just been announced, she was 92. I can remember watching her wedding from York Minster all those years ago.

Always seemed like a very lovely lady who went through tremedous turmoil after a still born trauma, and found much comfort in music.

She was an incredible woman.

I too remember the beautiful wedding of Katharine Worsley to the Duke of Kent. She was always a gracious lady. Lovely both inside and out.
As Duchess of Kent she presented my (late) son with his degree from Leeds University.
Rest in peace lovely lady. flowers

One of the RF with a delicate touch. She always seemed a sensitive soul

Jaxjacky Fri 05-Sept-25 12:51:38

She did Chardy a very ‘gentle’ woman.

Didn’t she teach at a school at one time? She came across as the loveliest of people. RIP

Although she stepped down as a working royal she was a huge asset to the family. Intelligent, kind, courageous and dignified.
I’m sure they will miss her.

She taught singing/music in a school in Hull

A gracious, gentle Lady, RIP 💐

Sarnia Fri 05-Sept-25 13:06:44

There was a lovely documentary about her some time ago.
She gave her time to give musically gifted children from low income backgrounds the opportunity to flourish in the world of music. Unlike some Royals she didn't need to be splashed all over the media because of it.
A very elegant lady who struggled after losing her baby. RIP.

She volunteered as a Samaritan and was just known as Katherine.

Our primary school summer trip went through York the day after the wedding. I remember the wonderful floral decorations all over the city. She hadn't been seen much recently but will be much missed. Sympathy to her family and friends.

I met her several times, we were both volunteers for the same charity , she
didn’t do official visits, she was on a rota and turned up regularly, she attended
conferences etc as a volunteer not as a royal.
I was told during the 1976 winter she volunteered to deliver meals on wheels.

RIP

I am sorry to hear that she has died ; she was an asset to the royal family. I hope she is at peace now.

Beautiful lady. I remember her from young musician, presenting the award.

Aveline Fri 05-Sept-25 13:51:47

What a nice, decent woman. She quietly got on and did her bit. RIP. The Duke of Kent will be bereft

TerriBull Fri 05-Sept-25 13:55:24

RIP Duchess of Kent. She stepped away from the Royal family without creating an enormous hullabaloo.

A quiet and dignified woman, I'm sure she'll be missed.

I will be honest and say I couldn’t bring her to mind at all, or the Duke of Kent come to that, but she sounds to have been much liked by GN members, which can’t be said for many in the RF.Most of the RF live to a good age.I will google all about her later.

A very kind and gracious lady. RIP 💐

Ditto to all the above. She was gracious and kind. Am exactly same age as her daughter Helen so always felt a little bit connected.

Allira Fri 05-Sept-25 15:51:10

I must say I shed a few tears when I heard the news.

She was so gracious and dignified, beautiful inside and out.
A life well lived, so kind and dedicated to helping others.

RIP Katharine, Duchess of Kent

I'm not a huge fan of the royals but this woman stood out from the others by just getting on with being a good person and not drawing too much attention to herself.

I saw the wedding on TV as a child, and some of the news footage at the time. She appeared to be a gentle and kind woman, deeply religious, and after recovering from a personal tragedy she spent years working with children.

Crossstitchfan Fri 05-Sept-25 16:05:28

When the Duke and Duchess got engaged, I was a child. I noticed her then for the first time and remember thinking she was the most beautiful lady I had ever seen. She went through life doing her best, quietly and gracefully. She stayed married, not many of the others managed that.
A lot of the Royals today could learn from her example of how to be truly Royal. RIP lovely lady.
