Good morning Mick and all GN's on a still dark breezy morning in North Yorkshire. I have had another rubbish night and struggling to even move about at the moment , and have now added a cough to the selection of things to keep me awake.
Horrible cramp about five am, and having to be aware of what I am doing with my leg, so that I dont start it off again. Havent even dared to get in the shower yet, so somewhat fed up. However, good to know someone is awake and that things must improve. I havent even been up to making a coffee yet, which I am desperate for. So once I can get a coffee and let the shower help me feel cleaner and less creaky I can do something with the day.
I have no plans at the moment to go out to anything, but if it turns into a nice day I may go mad and sit outside and read for a while! It is going to be more sorting out of the flipping dresser stuff. I seem to be endlessly working at it and yet there doesnt seem to be a great change in the mess to cheer me on. However, if I continue as I am today, I will have no excuse to avoid it as not up to doing anything else!! So hope radio 3 has some favourite music on to cheer the day. Of course the job is slowing up as the obvious things have been moved and now it is wading through paperwork, which is something only I can do anyway. It is slow work as I have to decide if it is out of date or whatever, make sure that I have ripped off anything that gives my name or address or such like that wretched scammers could make use of before I can put it in the recycle or whatever. Quite enjoyable when I hear the rubbish news about people like Farage and Trump to rip things up with them in mind!!
Well at least I will have a good dinner without having to do a great deal. My little joint of pork was very good and I made a proper sunday dinner, with onions and apple sauce - which will now be stewed apple for pudding today. But oh it took me so much effort to make it and stand up etc. When I think of how I rustled up meals for 4 extra big rugby players brought home, and cooked a meal for 6 of us for the embassy people and in a cooker the size of a baby belling with only bottled gas, it is hard to see how much effort is now required to do just one meal for me. Never mind , I now look forward to cold meat and salad and a jacket potato. Nothing to have to think about, can eat it when I am ready for it, and only the jacket potato to cook. I do try to do as I used to when in a bedsit as a student all those years ago. One lot of cooking that provided me with at least 2 meals. So would cook up mince with lots of good vegetables in it, and then divide it and the other half would have tomatoes and peppers added and become bolognaise sauce to have with pasta. These days I do have the ability to just divide something and freeze the second half so that I have a choice of things to get from the freezer on days I cannot cope with standing cooking.
Anyway that is my uninspiring plan for today. It has got a bit lighter and can see the tree, where the branches are waving in the breeze, but sky resolutely grey and looks as though we might get the rain and no sunshine. Not a sign of the squirrel, not even any pigeons wandering about. Hurray for gransnet, to show me I am not the only person alive at the moment!!
Good that you have the cycling to cheer your day Mick. I wonder how Chris Frome is getting on. Havent heard any more about him on the news so hope it is not as bad as it sounded. grandMattie Lovely to speak to your DS and sounds as though he is settling in there well. Your church group is certainly picking up and hopefully amongst them there might be someone who will give you a hand and also make a cake that you can enjoy for once. Pity I am so far away or I would have made some parkin and brought it down, Karmalady is the electricity free because you agree to use it at off peak times or something else? I havent seen much about this scheme around here but dont think I could be part of it as , like today, I need to be able to have a shower to get going, or if I am very bad, feel the cold a great deal as I cant move about much , so either have to have a fire on or go to bed to keep warm, so dont think I would be able to make use of this idea. i=I hope that if it does rain you get a good downpour to help the g round and put a bit back in the reservoirs. We definitely need it. Here we have had annoying very short sharp showers which do no good for the gardens and we get soaked for nothing!
Ah well I am going to get myself some coffee, at whatever cost in aches and pains and then hopefully get in the shower and be able to make a start on things. Hope everyone has a calm and peaceful day and have the chance to speak to friends and family. Have a good day everyone
