What have you got enough to last you a lifetime?

I’ve just gone into my spice cupboard to get my jar of nutmegs, it occurred to me I am unlikely to ever have to buy any again.

The same goes for knickers and lipstick.

What have you got a lifetimes supply of?

Marseilles soap

Walking sticks! Five, including one in the car. (Currently, not using any of them as my arthritic knee responded well to a genicular nerve block performed in May. )

Bed linen.

Towels

Tea towels.

How long is a lifetime?
That is the question.

Towels (but it's always good to have some new ones)
Tea towels, if I use the souvenir ones
Probably yarn, but it's never quite the right colour.

I'm going to have a cull of makeup, especially lipsticks etc.

Well at 84 I think I probably have enough of everything - but I expect I shall have to top up on food from time to time 😉

Free sachets of face stuff as I recently bought a new lipstick and some primer from different companies.

Fabrics and spinning stash in my house, tools in my garage, I do use them including the `what if` tools

Spinning wheels, I have a herd

French soaps. I am happy to have culled make-up a couple of years ago and now have space to buy a few nice lipsticks

My favourite, easy-going house plants, different varieties of sansevierias

Reels of cotton. I gave up making my own clothes and curtains years ago.

Clothes, although they have been seen so many times they really should be retired.
My D lived in Antigua for three years many years ago now.
Every time she came home she bought me a jar of whole spices so I also have lots of nutmegs and the tiny graters for them.
I have given many away through the years.

I have several jars of cloves from when I intended to make orange pomanders with the DGC. Then came Covid.

I suppose the furniture would last the rest of my life.

But when I have to go into the retirement home I’m going to have all new stuff!

How can anyone ever have enough knickers 🤣
I think I have enough dinner sets. Am going to have to part with some when we move, we went through a phase of buying sets in charity shops and on car boot sales.

Art supplies from my various attempts at being an artist!
Also I accidentally ordered a huge bag of panko bread crumbs
when I did my click n collect groceries. Must be meant for catering!

ginny Wed 10-Sept-25 13:20:24

Art and craft supplies but it won’t stop me buying more.

butterandjam Wed 10-Sept-25 13:26:06

I go through so many nutmegs, knickers and savons de Marseilles , I have to buy new supplies every year.

My hoard of books, garden tools, tea towels, vintage bone china, vintage embroidered linen and vintage silk scarves should hold out until I'm at least 100- and-something.
