What have you got enough to last you a lifetime?

I’ve just gone into my spice cupboard to get my jar of nutmegs, it occurred to me I am unlikely to ever have to buy any again.

The same goes for knickers and lipstick.

What have you got a lifetimes supply of?

spottybook

Reels of cotton. I gave up making my own clothes and curtains years ago.

Earrings and clothes but I can still be tempted!

Art supplies…I’ll still buy more.

T Shirts….I’ll definitely still buy more.

Jumpers….ditto

Lipsticks….I’ve not bought any this year and have decided to be very strict with myself over this.

Pears soap. I used to love the transparent soap as a child and thought it was no longer available being so old fashioned.
Then I discovered a source online but had to bulk buy.
I’m sure someone will be happy to inherit the bars that will be left!

Enough crockery, cutlery, pans, garden tools etc. Probably enough bed linen and towels and, if I don't put on any weight, enough clothes for the next few years.

Handbags
Summer shoes
Winter shoes
Clothes
I don’t really go far these days but I can’t resist buying clothes

Dinner services, 3 complete sets of dinner, tea and associated tea/ coffee pots etc.
We use most of one, but I just can’t bear to get rid of the others.

Cutlery?

I am finding I need more.
May end up buying a canteen of cutlery.
Not had a new one of them since I got married.

I think my GC either eat my cutlery or steal it for some strange reason, hard to imagine what the two year old might be doing with it but then it might be his big cousins. Teaspoons are a particular issue.

I remember when one of our sons was about two years old, we also had the mystery of the disappearing teaspoons. It turned out that he was throwing out his yogurt pots along with the spoons!

Joss Stick! My husband ordered a box ...but it contained 100's of packets. Have given huge amounts away but still got loads. Every time I light one I do think of him and laugh as he very rarely made mistakes, and he died over 3 years ago.

Well I suppose looking around other would say I have enough books to last me for ever, but I say NEVER, and that is a pleasure (of few left to me!) that there is no one to say
"not more books" or what have you got that lot for! So I am at the moment getting rid of a big dresser so that guess what ? yes a better book case to put them in!!

Too many china mugs and cups etc., used to have lots of people visiting and family so needed a good view, not so many these days.

Still have some lovely perfumes still well sealed from when I worked for the airline and now put it on as and when I choose, usually to go to a concert or out to something, but on rubbish days I sometime treat myself to just smelling nice for myself. If I look at the price in the shops I am shocked. when these are finished I shall only smell of clean soap and clean clothes, not buying any more/

Oh of course, I have several rather nice notebooks bought of course in the january sales, usually gardening or bird ones and use them for obviously making notes, keeping info where I know where to find it etc, and any course I go on, so can remember easily that the yoga info is in the garden book and the computer workshop is in the one with an otter on the front!

Whilst ther are of course plants now waiting for me to find a space for them, I shall never say I have enough, and can see me managing to look for a plant on my last day on earth!!

Perfumes...it's my extravagance. I have over 30 bottles of expensive stuff. Expect my daughter will inherit them

essjay Thu 11-Sept-25 15:49:50

pen50 Thu 11-Sept-25 15:46:14

Possibly knitting wool. People do keep giving it to me.

And bath/shower gel - ditto

knspol Thu 11-Sept-25 15:05:33

Crockery, glassware, bed linen, napkins, furniture and also liquid shoe cleaner - mistakenly bought box of 12 when I only wanted one!

Same here, nutmeg. I bought a bag of whole nutmegs on a Caribbean holiday back in 2006 and still have loads of them left.

JANH Thu 11-Sept-25 14:53:27

Tea cloths
Crockery - inherited loads
Pictures on every wall
Culled my bed linen when I went over to coverless duvets, last year
Shoes so my husband informs me

There are probably more

Greciangirl Thu 11-Sept-25 14:32:49

Clothes.

teabagwoman Thu 11-Sept-25 14:31:07

Knitting needles
Table linen.
Food storage bags. I wash and reuse and my stash never seems to go down.

fancyflowers Thu 11-Sept-25 14:27:48

Cutlery, towels, furniture and carpets, sheets (although I'll probably buy more duvets and duvet covers), my trusty Stanley knife, lots of my handmade leather items, possibly handbags although I might just buy some more), plates ( we have far too many) and paintings on the wall. I'm sure I could think of more.

Flutterby345 Thu 11-Sept-25 14:23:51

Plastic mini greenhouses. Just got one, roof strut missing, got given another and told to keep original. Will be able to use original when new one gives out.

SillyNanny321 Thu 11-Sept-25 14:23:19

Books even though I let 100’s go when I moved to a smaller place 2 years ago. Then there is my cd & vinyl collections! Cant (wont) part with any of them!
