What have you got enough to last you a lifetime?

Coats and jackets. I have them for every possible weather in every season. Just today I decided it’s time to put away my lightweight linen jackets and switch to lightweight showerproof ones for Autumn…..

Everything- apart from food (although my stock cupboard and freezer will lso keep me fed for a few months at least! )

I've just been trying to rationalise it all but it's all gone back, just in a slightly different order!

Books. My bookshelves are crammed, yet still I borrow more from the public library (Colm Toibin, “Long Island” this time). We have a village library, so I must donate some to it. I’ll never buy another book.

Holiday clothes - beach / cruise. Just come back from 2 weeks in Greece with one suitcase of washing and one of unworn clothes and I still have lots in wardrobe and in drawers under the beds.
I also have enough yarn and fabric to see me out, as my mother would say.
I complete one crochet project and end up with lots of leftover wool, or finish a patchwork quilt for Linus project and seem to have more left than I started with.
I also do vol work in a charity Bookshop so I won't go into my book stash.....

Am a keen reader and have been from a child. There’s a lot of unread books here that I’ve bought and am working my way through them. Currently reading Touch not the Cat by Mary Stewart. Love her books. Hoping to read all my books before dying

I stopped knitting but crochet blankets to use up all the yarn so only had a ball or two about

8 years ago and went onto 5d crystal painting which I have 5 large boxes full of. Take more of my life time to finish.

Then saw some lovely coloured wool and I have been buying like it is going out of fashion and in the last year have 10 45 ltr boxes full there are so many lovely colours. DH just keeps looking at me doesn't say anything It has got to the point that I try and hide it before he sees it. I have just ordered 30 more balls and that is my last. Hopefully. Oh I need help!

Covid blue masks ! I do hope we don’t need them again but I’ve got quite a big stock !

Plates, pans, casserole dishes, mugs, my husband doesn't like throwing anything out, so when he's out I fill a bag up on the quiet for the charity shop, we've got that much he never notices

My favourite deodorant stick is Mum but when it disappeared from the shops I bought them in bulk on-line. They’ll see me out.

Yarns - especially fine ones.
I have maybe 100kg of yarn all together- which will be impossible to get through in my lifetime - and which costs me to store because I need to moth-protect it all. 🙄

it will store perfectly in packmate bags. I always store my yarn and spinning fluff in those. Mothproof and no humidity. As good as new when wanted

Clothes as well - as I foresaw clothes becoming poorer quality - and so I got a reasonable wardrobe of clothes before that happened. One has to hunt for normal quality clothing these days - whereas one used to be able to buy it in Marks & Spencers even.

Slight flaw to this - I think I'm "vanity size 16-18" currently and I'm suppose to be "real size 14 - now labelled as size 12" - and the weight isn't coming off as fast as I need to get "my" figure back again.

Not to mention that, for years, I've been expecting the powers-that-be to have another major war sometime. Didnt know when or on what excuse. But cynical enough to think "Don't put it past them - and they rationed clothes too in World War 2". After all - gotta keep the arms industries going - hmph!

Reference books - in topics I'm interested in. I started collecting in the 1970s and held onto the most "interesting" of the early ones in case Things Changed. Just as well I did - as things have indeed changed in a variety of ways.

So, for instance, when someone who knows little says in their book about foraging "Ah warning...warning...don't eat comfrey" I can check back with 1970s books on this and think "Hmm...someone not done their homework then....as there is a type of comfrey one can eat safely". Ditto economy cookbooks - I can look back through to mine that I bought in the 1970s if I'm after the most basic economy recipes of the time (ie vegetarian economy).

I basically saw the Internet coming in some ways and decided that I wanted proof of information in writing (ie no-one and nothing can touch it - with losing it/censoring it/whatever else) - as I've got it there in book form. Hah!
