What have you got enough to last you a lifetime?

I’ve just gone into my spice cupboard to get my jar of nutmegs, it occurred to me I am unlikely to ever have to buy any again.

The same goes for knickers and lipstick.

What have you got a lifetimes supply of?

Pears soap. I used to love the transparent soap as a child and thought it was no longer available being so old fashioned.
Then I discovered a source online but had to bulk buy.
I’m sure someone will be happy to inherit the bars that will be left!

Art supplies…I’ll still buy more.

T Shirts….I’ll definitely still buy more.

Jumpers….ditto

Lipsticks….I’ve not bought any this year and have decided to be very strict with myself over this.

spottybook

Reels of cotton. I gave up making my own clothes and curtains years ago.

Earrings and clothes but I can still be tempted!

My dear daughter used to push my wooden spoons through the fence into next doors garden. I had to keep buying more. All eventually found when granny next door was in the garden! No idea why she did that but gave everyone a big smile!

Sorry Spotty, I don't know what I did?

Clothes clothes and more clothes!! Cannot pass a charity shop without a rake. Today's haul was a skirt, rain jacket a Per Una one in a shade I don't have. I put it down to not having a lot of clothes when younger. Skirt was £1 and jacket and jacket £3.

It’s a shame we collect all this stuff but can’t take it with us when we finally go.

Yarn. I knit for charity but could knit every day for years and not use it up. I bought three balls today!

Washing up liquid. OH buys the biggest one on the shelf at every shopping trip. The undersink cupboard is about to burst. It wouldn't be so bad if he sometimes washed the pots but that's s never entered his head.

Watercolour paints, I have several sets. I might need to replace an odd popular colour. I have my Mothers set too, they really do last!

Barbadosbelle Thu 11-Sept-25 20:51:14

Spices do have a 'Best before' date.

It takes many years but they do lose their potency.

Won't do you any harm to use them but you'll need a lot more to get your usual required taste.

And more books than I've got room for. I have a sort out and donate to charity now and again, but then I get tempted and fill the spaces I've made.

In our house it's toilet rolls. DH has a thing about them and buys huge packs whenever they are on offer, never mind the brand. DD didn't have to buy a single roll the entire time she was at university and DH is still very smug about the Great Covid Toilet Roll Shortage five years on. I think he gets it from his parents, who always put toilet rolls in their suitcases as if they hadn't been invented anywhere else.
