Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but dry start to the day here in Brackley.
My usual routine after housework , get the bus to Bicester ,mind you cannot use the proper bus stop because of the Annual Town Fair , so a temp stop just a seat and no shelter .
Watch TV and the last few days of the Tour of Spain which has seen its fair share of protestors trying to stop the event.
Health OK
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a sunny, dry South Yorkshire. Yesterday we had a nice, but short morning walk with the walking group as one of our members, half way round, said she couldn’t manage the whole route, so had to turn back. When one turns back, we all have to turn back and I felt rather put out by it as I was enjoying it. But, of course, one of these days that could be me, so I put my feelings to one side. The company was very enjoyable. The promised apocalyptic afternoon weather passed us by yet again and spoiled my plans to visit my niece on the way home as I was anxious to get home before the forecast deluge with T&L came on us.
Today I have a food shop to do and then I’ll screw up my courage to cover my living room walls with squares of paint possibilities. There will be so many shades of grey it will look like the livery of a Vulcan bomber!!
Have the best day you can folks.

Good morning all and it’s a bit chilly but sunny here in Essex.

Yesterday’s appointment for Dh wasn’t too bad. He has diabetes, but I knew he would have. He has a very sweet tooth .
So another pill added to his stash.

He spent a long time doing admin , he can’t seem to cope with forms and telephone calls these days, and is hopeless on the computer. Oh dear I’ll have to take over. 🤯.
It’s sad to remember how he was, in a high powered job , flying all over the world to secure billion pound deals.

The chiropodist phoned while I was out, to give him an appointment. He couldn’t hear her and rudely told her to get a new phone!!!
She phoned me yesterday and I apologised profusely but she just laughed and said ‘don’t worry’. Poor woman. 😬.
Strokes seem to change a persons personality, along with the frustration of not being able to do things.😢.

Today little pooch has her half yearly jab and check over, and then we’ll meet our Friday pals for a drink. Our Parkinsons friend is in hospital, so we won’t be seeing them . 😢.

I had a declutterring day yesterday and have a large sack to go to the charity shop.

Take care all 🌼

Good morning everyone from a sunny south coast. I shall make the most of the blue sky while it lasts and weed between the paving stones outside my front door which is probably my most disliked gardening job.
I was disappointed in the film The Roses yesterday. The bad language very quickly became tedious for me and the only genuine wit and humour seemed to come from the children. Aaah well. I must be getting old!! 😂
Hope everyone has the best possible day.

Good morning from Durham. A glorious start to the day with a bright, blue sky and sun, but feeling a little chilly.
The DGSs really enjoyed tea and soft play after school yesterday - the bill was hefty for 5 of us! It’s lovely to see them playing together, which doesn’t happen very often, as they have different lives.
Today, DD2 and I are off looking at cars for her - Motability, so there’s only a small selection available to suit her needs (and budget).
MD I hope the ‘phone consultation with your GP can at least explain some of the problems you’ve been experiencing.
Good luck gM you are very ‘brave’
to take on all you do. Such a shame your infrequent dinners with DD are spoiled.

Best wishes to all. X

Marydoll I hope your phone consultation goes well🙏🏻

Good morning from a sunny S E Essex.

The builders are sanding down/smoothing new sly plastered walls, the dust is everywhere, despite them having an extractor thingy underneath where they are working.

The 10yr old has just gone off to school, he is such a good boy 💙

I am off to the gym, a quick catch up afterwards then I am popping next door to have a pedicure and get my eyebrows and eyelashes died, and an eyebrow wax.

Then it’s straight over the road to pick up DS4’s 8 and nearly 6yr olds from school, rush back home and pick up The Imp and 10 yrs old. The schools are in the same road, about 3/4 mile apart 🤷‍♀️

DiL4 is away with her sister and mum, so we are going out to dinner with DS4 and the GC this evening, really looking forward to it.

grandMattie if I recall your GD is neurodiverse (apologies if I have got this wrong) it can be a rocky road for them and their loved ones 🌸

Fingers crossed Marydoll for your GP phone call.

Remember if life gives you lemons make lemonade 🍋🍋🍋

Morning, sunny as merlotgran said, showers later, we had one thunderstorm yesterday, it was very windy too.
A difficult day Susan how lovely it was so well attended.
MrJ had a liver scan yesterday, we were both worried, but all is fine.
Just seen on the news a reference to a flash mob in Paris of Bohemian Rhapsody, it really is brilliant if you get a chance to see it. The track will be performed at the last night of the Proms with the remaining band members tomorrow.
Today I'm out and about, various chores, pub tonight.

Good morning from Suffolk where we have sun. I think it should last for most of the day.

DH now has to make an appt to have his hair cut so I’ll probably go to our local little town and we’ll have coffee and cake before his appt.

Yesterday afternoon I was sitting in my favourite armchair in the dining room and could hear some noise in the chimney and a small amount of soot falling down. As I was in the sitting room telling DH about it,we heard a loud thud, which excited little dog!

DH found a rook flying around the room and when he opened a window it flew out. Apart from soot in the hearth, there was no other evidence of our visitor. We have a missing cowl from one of the chimney pots blown off by strong winds some time ago which we will now need to get replaced. For such a simple job it will need scaffolding and therefore a costly operation.

Hope all have a positive day.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, but a definite chill in the air, as I have just been out and hung the towels on the line. (I washed them yesterday afternoon). Another load of washing is in the machine.

Was at home all day yesterday, so got a few things done, indoors before lunch, and then in the afternoon in the garden to tidy up a border of overgrown shrubs, which last weekend's gardeners had not done to my satisfaction. I also weeded, got rid of some ivy and brambles which were getting Sleeping Beauty size - very satisfying. Also refilled the holes in the lawn - which will be dug again tonight by the three young foxes who delight in this game!

Off to the shops this morning as I have half a dozen things on my top-up list. Will have a coffee and a bite to eat in the M&S Cafe.
Curry defrosting in the fridge for dinner tonight.

Take care everyone, and have a pleasant day.

Good morning from a cooler but sunny Black Country.

A lovely sunny walk yesterday with my bi-weekly walking group. Started off along the canal, with stop for coffee at the Fishing Lakes. The view there makes it hard to believe we are in the Black Country (pic attached). Then on through the fields and back along the canal to our starting point. Almost 7 miles walking, no wonder my legs ached!

Bit of housework today as MrJ's DD is coming to stay tonight until Sunday, make sure the spare bedroom is spick and span.

whywhywhy ((hugs))

Wishing you all the best day possible with special thoughts to all of those struggling health wise.

Thank you Aldom.x

Liberty I live in a three storey house. When neighbours have needed work involving the roof they have used a Cherry picker much cheaper than scaffolding.

Taransay Fri 12-Sept-25 09:23:56

Good morning from the wet and windy Scottish highlands, we woke up to rain…..first time in weeks. The garden is desperate.
Will finish my housework this morning then a community afternoon tea later.
Best wishes for calm and peaceful day

karmalady Fri 12-Sept-25 09:32:23

Liberty, I had a cowl replaced, something a sweep can do. Mine used ladders safely and no cherry picker and certainly not scaffolding. Ask your chimney sweep

Borrheid55 Fri 12-Sept-25 09:49:53

Marydoll just a quickie to say thinking of you and fingers crossed for your phone call from GP. I will post soon - you know I lurk every day!

Good Morning from a chilly bright Co Armagh , dry just now but rain forecast
I might do some deadheading today , the cosmos benefits
We ha a cowl replaced by the Chimney Sweep, roof ladders , no scaffolding, ask around

Liberty Fri 12-Sept-25 10:52:28

Thank you all for your helpful suggestions but we have been told that, for insurance purposes, ladders can’t be used above a certain height. If they are and there is an accident, any insurance would be invalidated.

Our cottage is 3 storeys high, and very old. The roof is steeply pitched and was originally thatched but now pantiled. We will though certainly ask around and, having used the same local firms for over 35 years, can certainly trust their advice. Thanks again.

Ladders are not a possibility when it is a three storey house Karma. smile
