Will they reconcile do you think? Are you bothered?

I wish them well as father and son and hope the family can heal their rift.

But from a ‘royal’ perspective? No way. Harry made his choices and as far as I’m concerned, he can live with the consequences.

I'm not up to speed on this, having been across the channel a while, but it's encouraging to read of a reconciliation.

On a different note, the Royals seem to be out of the news in France, (apart from Macron's July visit to the UK), compared with a few years ago. I'm not sure whether people have lost interest or whether the foreign press has thankfully backed off since the illnesses were announced.

Yes definitely Iam from a family perspective. On that level I wish them every success in their endeavours. It would be mean not to.

FGT, I’ve not RTFT before commenting, for which I have my reasons (excuses). I will read in the morning, before which I want to say, well done our King and his son. I wish them well. I hope reconciliation is possible. My heart goes out to them, attempting reconciliation in the glare of publicity in which some yearn for failure

Its amazing Harry wants to be part of the family he publicly rubbished but it’s up to them. I would doubt they could ever
be alone with each other.

Harry has come to realise which side his bread is buttered.

Yep. I don’t think he realised how much he would be giving up to live in the US and now it is really hitting home.

We need him inside the family rather than setting up a court in America in opposition to William after Chatles dies.

Yes 👍🏻

Allira Fri 12-Sept-25 20:14:39

Well, that was an opening, wasn't it! 😁

Are you bovvered?

Kate1949 Fri 12-Sept-25 20:11:52

We were asked if we were bothered.

I can never understand why people post on a thread just to say they are not interested in the subject.

🤔

Because it is a point of view. Opinions are relevant are they not?

But it's not an opinion.

Family dynamics are always full of nuance and complex layers. None of us know all the details (or any of them). Whatever the facts are, I am bothered enough to wish Harry and HM well...who can take any pleasure in family conflict?

Lathyrus3 Fri 12-Sept-25 19:41:07

I hope it went well for both of them.

I can’t ever see a return to the relationship they had before.

Charles will be aware that he must always guard what he says so can never relax in Harry’s company.

Trust once broken is very rarely regained.

kittylester Fri 12-Sept-25 19:33:55

I really meant that he could overshadow William by doing just what he did this week.

Norah Fri 12-Sept-25 19:30:35

TillyTrotter I hope Harry - the youngest son - has visited the King - his Father - for the right reasons as Charles will still love him whatever unpleasant times have occurred in the recent past.

Parents love their children, no matter how appearances, imo. It would be difficult knowing (from either side) wrong ways you were an adulterous father or a unprincipled son.

Hopefully they'll get on with a good relationship. Though it matters not.

Babs03 Fri 12-Sept-25 19:24:03

From an estrangement point of view I think Harry taking off to the US with Meghan and then going viral with his displeasure with his family, in particular his dad, indeed almost making a brand of his rather spoiled bleating, must be hard for his dad to cope with, and well done him for agreeing to meet with his son despite the heartache Harry must have caused him.
Will not blame Meghan, Harry is big enough and daft enough to make his own mistakes. But I doubt she is encouraging him to reconcile, she obviously loves their life in the US too much.
Let’s hope Harry starts to grow up. His dad has already had cancer and isn’t getting any younger.

Kate1949 Fri 12-Sept-25 19:09:45

Not bothered. I don't know them so am not interested.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 12-Sept-25 19:07:40

Yes indeed - I did ask “are you bothered” for that very reason. Some people are not. And it’s perfectly okay to say so. 😊

I can't see that happening, or certainly not with people who have any power or influence.

William holds all the cards, now and in the future, through no fault of his own.

I would be happy to know that a father and son have been reconciled, especially if the father has been ill as Charles has been.

Harry's visit has certainly been very high profile, as he is not an HRH any more as he is not a working Royal.
Meanwhile, William and Catherine just get on with the job.

As for not having much money left, he apparently (so he let us all know) has made a charity donation of over £1 million to Children in Need.

Harry certainly looked very chipper. What is going on? 🤔

David49 Fri 12-Sept-25 18:54:33

Harry may well be reconciled with his family at some point in the future but it will be without Meghan, I really don’t see her being welcomed back to the UK.

Desdemona Fri 12-Sept-25 18:50:08

I am not really that invested in the Royal Family. I used to take an interest but I don't really see the relevance anymore.

I would hope that Harrys intentions are good - but I feel he has got some very good advice on how to improve his popularity - to make money - who knows?

What Prince William thinks is a different matter ….
