No, we have builders in all windows and doors open.
No socks (apart from the gym) until at least October. Heating no!

Autumn is early this year and it’s chilly this evening. I’m very tempted to switch on my electric fire, just to warm the sitting room.
In the end I put on my dressing gown, over my clothes, and thick socks.
Has anyone actually put on their central heating yet?

I'm in Scotland too. I was cold in bed last night. Brr.
But later today I dodged a shower by cleaning out the greenhouse, harvesting my meagre crops and was boiling.
I may throw a blanket over the duvet tonight.
Heating on? Not yet but I will light the fire when my visitors arrive.
yes my heating is on often, I would keep it off for longer, but my OH has alzheimers and feels the cold even on warm days, he sits by the radiator, with a fleece and his gloves on

Oh, absolutely not. We have an absolute ban on any form of heating going on before October at the earliest, and even then it would only be the woodburner. Central heating is reserved for the very coldest of conditions - talking about frost, snow etc.
Why is that?
If it’s a money concern, I get that totally, but not otherwise.
Still got the Summer duvet on the bed and it’s ok just about.
Downstairs am turning on the fake woodburner early in the morning until it warms the room.Got out my cosy socks and the throws for evening.
I really don’t understand this hairshirt attitude to having the central heating on. Obviously money can play a part in how we heat our homes but if it’s not a pressing issue, why be uncomfortable? My mum, when she was in her own home, lived on a basic pension plus PC but her little house was never cold.
Our CH works on thermostat. It came on the other morning for the first time since May, for 24 minutes. It took the nip off the air in the bedrooms and bathroom. It’s been on twice for an hour in the evening to take the chill off after windy and wet days.
We’re also in Scotland. I think it was about 15deg today and I got caught in a windy, icy downpour of a ninja shower, which was horrible.
Last week I changed the bed linen from cool cotton to warm flannelette, keeping the summer quilt. It’s made a huge difference and I won’t need the winter wool duvet for another month or so, hopefully.
Regarding CH, we spend our days in the south facing conservatory and it’s usually late October after clocks go back when we turn our thermostat up to 18degrees for evening warmth in the sitting room.
Our home is cavity and fully loft insulated with new windows and doors and our gas bill for the year is around £300. With the WFA being restored I’m donating mine to DGD so they can top up their insulation and not worry about their bills!
👋 Taichinan good to see you posting! x
I'm in bed and the electric blanket is on. I'm quite toasty now. Taichinan how lovely to hear from you.
Have a health condition that gets worse pain-wise if I get cold and once I get cold it takes me hours to warm up. The bed socks have reappeared and I've sorted out my long-sleeved pyjamas. The new electric blanket is on just on a low setting to warm the bed. It just isn't worth my economising on heat and being miserable.

Mostly money - couldn't afford to have the heating unless absolutely necessary, but we're used to living in a cold house. I grew up here with ice on the inside of the windows for about three months of the year, so we're pretty hardy creatures.
I am sitting here wrapped in a towel after showering. It is 23c in the lounge as it’s been sunny here and the sun pours in and heats the room. No heating needed yet.
Oh yes.
I think Autumn is early here as well.
And I have a skin condition. I think I am in for a cold feeling few months.
I haven't turned the heating on at home but I did have the heater on in my car this morning when I was doing the school run at 7.50am.
I put the heating on or light the woodburner when I feel cold. It doesn't matter what month it is. It's been on lots of times in the past 2 or 3 weeks.
Not the actual central heating yet, but I have a nice coal effect electric fire in the living area and that's been on for a couple of hours in the evenings this week. It's been chilly. I hate feeling cold.
Yes - I’ve got the CH on. I have lung problems so I need to have a warm house. My S/O is £227 pm. (Gas&Electric)
Yes i put mine on today in the lounge for the first time. Radiator in bathroom has been on for a week or so. Not in bedroom yet as I can't stand it too warm in there. In fact window still open and I'm in bed with my fan on as love to feel cool air on my head as long as my body warm.
I'm sorry to hear that, Crazy. Yes, I understand you need a warm house therefore. It's expensive but necessary.
I only pay £91 per month.
I hope you get better.
Ours is on all the time but controlled by the thermostat so it only comes on when it turns a bit chilly.
I noticed it had come on yesterday morning when I went down to make the early morning tea, but it soon went off again.
We had our central heating replaced recently and it’s very welcome. Our old boiler was unreliable and as autumn has come early and I usually dread the winter. My arthritic joints will appreciate the warmth now possible thanks to the new heating.
Brrr... exactly hiw I feel today.
Bought a couple of long line cardigans in Primark yesterday . They aren't perhaps a good buy as the quality is dubious .
Back to layer dressing.
I went to church last week and I was cold so now I know that Autunm is here .
We are having central heating installed for the first time at the moment, the radiators are all fitted and the new boiler goes in today. I can see us disagreeing on temps as I like it coolish while OH likes to be hot. The controls will be going up and down a fair bit.
Never had the old fire/oil rads on until November usually. I don't like it too warm and certainly not in my bedroom, window open all year unless it's really windy. At the moment windows are still open through the house.
Until it gets a bit chillier on my bed I just have the duvet cover with no duvet, I find that stays better than a just a sheet. I tend to kick it back anyway when it's hot. My OH has winter weight duvet on his bed all year round!
I took a hot water bottle to bed last night, still got my summer bedding on and the window open but it was so cosy to have a lovely warm bed.
My monthly bill is twice yours crazy one reason why I need to downsize ASAP and why I have lodgers.
I notice the fuel bills are going up too.
