Around this time of night, if at home, I fancy a little something, I usually go for a mug of Milo and a biscuit. Now and then a bowl of rice crispies, but DP often has cheese on toast which I tell him will give him nightmares, not that it does.
If I have home made cake in then I have a slice of that, but don’t like shop cakes.
I get bored with the same things, what do you go for?

I have a bag of Pom Bears at bedtime to stop my tummy growling in the night. Only 66 calories and just enough.

Anything I can lay my hands on

That’s the spirit 😁

Milo was made in OZ and sold from 1934 onwards globally.
It contains chocolate and malt and quite a few vitamins and was aimed at children as it was the depression era.
I always 🥰 it.

So, Milo is Ovaltine! Used to love that, haven’t had it for years. I am going to seek it out!

It's different from Ovaltine I think.

At least the Australian version is.

Dinner at 7 to 7.30, often with a couple of glasses of wine. Never think to have anything after that.

I'm off to find Milo now, another one that's never heard of it.

Try Home Bargains or B&M

I found some Milo when I went to Berwick on Tweed. I have not seen it anywhere else for many years. My night time drink is Ovaltine, but it has been in short supply recently. Peppermint tea for during the night.

Toast with marmite (is that what you are calling Marmite toast?) Is lovely at night.

Now have ‘we are the Ovalteenies’ running through my head with visions of those beige melamine mugs with ‘nightcap’ lids. I hope someone else remembers these and you don’t all think I’ve lost the plot 😂

Rediscovered Ovaltine recently and enjoying it again. Dissolves more easily than some other drinks. I heat a mug of milk in the microwave and spoon it in. Usually skimmed milk - I know it’s not everyone’s favourite but other milks are available! I find the drinks you make with milk less sweet than the ones you make with water.

..... just found it in Sainsburys and Morrisons!

It's not in my tesco sad (online shop)

Strange🤔
Do you have other supermarkets near you?

Not in Asda either - going to try Sainsburys next!

Every evening at around 8.00p.m - 8.30 pm I have an apple.

Mollygo Thu 18-Sept-25 12:28:36

Interesting thread.

We usually eat our evening meal around 5.30-6pm.

The health program I was recommended by our practice nurse for pre-diabetes recommends not eating after your evening meal.

The doctor, when I asked about my night time acid-reflux, recommended medication or to eat a banana or some carbs (not toast) at bedtime.

I’m going with the, If you find something works, helps you sleep and doesn’t make you put on weight treatment.

Interesting reading, Milo is now an instant drink chocolate and malt, make with boiled water and top up with milk.Comes in large tins from the supermarket.Years ago you had to heat up milk in a pan and add to the Milo powder.

DS discovered Milo on a trip to Malaysia. He doesn’t have hot drinks but will have this hot or cold when the mood takes him.

I have found that sucking a hard boiled cappachino sweet from Lidl deals with evening thoughts of ‘I wonder what’s in the fridge’.
