Supper or just a drink?

Around this time of night, if at home, I fancy a little something, I usually go for a mug of Milo and a biscuit. Now and then a bowl of rice crispies, but DP often has cheese on toast which I tell him will give him nightmares, not that it does.
If I have home made cake in then I have a slice of that, but don’t like shop cakes.
I get bored with the same things, what do you go for?

Nothing, we have dinner, just a main course, between 7 and 8, maybe with a drink, that’s it.

With our jobs, we eat breakfast early, lunch just a sandwich and main meal around 6 pm.
No dessert and not a huge meal, so from 9.30 to 10.30 the cupboard and fridge calls.🤭

Just off now to make marmite toast😍

Just a drink around 9ish for me. DH will usually have a piece of cake of a couple of biscuits.

J52 Tue 16-Sept-25 22:03:06

I have nothing after dinner at 7 pm and rarely breakfast only coffee..
DH will sometimes have cheese or a biscuit at about 9 pm.

Bedtime tea for me!

Allira Tue 16-Sept-25 22:29:18

Well, nothing usually but now I want a Milo and a couple of biscuits.

Haven't got any Milo though.

Oreo

Just off now to make marmite toast😍

I did that about the same time. Love it.

I’m just having 2 teas and 2 caramel wafers while watching a Midsomer Murder.

Just decaffeinated tea at bedtime for me. Nothing for Mr C after our evening meal. I’m not a good sleeper, if still awake after 1am I often head for a slice of bread and butter and yet another cup of tea.

We have our main meal at lunch time and a light meal around 6.00pm. I am not a snacker and rarely eat between meals, if I do, it will be a slice of cheese or fruit. DH usually snacks on yoghourt or cheese. It is a myth that eating cheese near bedtime gives you nightmares, just an old wives tale.

I usually have a hot drink just before bed, usually a hot cordial or lemon tea, I have mild lactic intolerance and a milky drink would probably, no, would definitely, make me throw up.

Allira Tue 16-Sept-25 22:48:10

We always had cheese and biscuits at about 9 pm years ago and slept well, better than we do now without any cheese in fact.

Witzend Tue 16-Sept-25 22:50:25

I just had toast and honey. Off to bed now.

pably15 Tue 16-Sept-25 22:55:45

We have dinner around 5pm, then I have a sleep on the settee, can't kep my eyes open....around 8pm hungry again, usually I'll have toast with either banana or marmite, and a cuppa...

Wyllow3 Tue 16-Sept-25 23:03:44

Or banana and marmite?....

Visgir1 Tue 16-Sept-25 23:21:44

We eat around 7pm.. That's it, just water after. I would never think about anything else, even if we eat earlier.

henetha Tue 16-Sept-25 23:28:50

I have a glass of milk before 9 pm with sometimes a chocolate biscuit or similar...that's it.

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 16-Sept-25 23:37:41

Dinner is at 7 pm. No more food after that but I may have a martini!

Bukkie Tue 16-Sept-25 23:42:05

I am baffled. What's Milo? Never heard of it. Always have supper here, more out of habit than hunger. Tea is 6pm. Usually have tea and toast (with vegemite)

GrannyIvy Wed 17-Sept-25 04:24:55

We eat dinner between 7 and 8 and then only water or a glass of wine. I do like a digestive biscuit in the evening but try to resist 😂

NannyJan53 Wed 17-Sept-25 05:41:38

Dinner is around 7pm, after that nothing to eat. MrJ usually has a coffee and cake or biscuit around 9pm.

grandMattie Wed 17-Sept-25 05:50:28

I never drink after dinner. I have a stash of fruit and halva if I’m grazing while watching tv. That’s why I knit, to try not to pick at things and get fatter than I am…

Interesting reading, Milo is now an instant drink chocolate and malt, make with boiled water and top up with milk.Comes in large tins from the supermarket.Years ago you had to heat up milk in a pan and add to the Milo powder.
