Hello Kitcheners- hope you don't mind and apologies if a new kitchen has already been opened elsewhere but I couldn't find it if there has... I've done my best but it still needs a few throws and cushions to make it more homely, ready for the nights drawing in and chillier evenings. Some freshly baked scones, jam and cream on the side if you fancy a treat.
I hope you dont think it presumptious of me to start this kitchen as I don't post as regularly as some of you but do find Soops Kitchen a lovely place to drop into even if I've nothing to say.

Oh fgt, why wouldn’t you be scared? It will be hard putting on a brave face, exhausting. Although no certainties the news about your husband is hopeful. Im pleased for you both. Hope you both rest well tonight xx

Good to hear you’re feeling stronger blossoming. I have an image of you singing in the rain

Have a good evening everyone. Rest well.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 27-Oct-25 20:31:00

Thank you lovely Kitcheners.
I’m scared, truth be told. I wish I wasn’t, but there it is. I’ve said it.
Big girl knickers on now….

Sar53 Mon 27-Oct-25 20:18:15

I'm so pleased to hear your more positive news FGT. Fingers crossed 🤞 all goes well. Best wishes to you both xx

Crossed posts, Blossoming, so glad you're feeling stronger. 💐

Grannmarie Mon 27-Oct-25 19:29:42

Hopeful news, FGT, hope Himself 's treatment is manageable.

Lovely photos, Blossoming and Jaxjacky.
Imogen looks beautiful, calm and confident. Good luck for your quiz.
Good for you, walking in the rain, Blossoming!

Glad your eye treatment is going well, Cornergran.

I'm sure your DGD loved her weekend, Ladyleftfieldlover!

I cooked roast chicken yesterday too, UsedToBeBlonde! It's always a treat, very tasty. I had it with baby potatoes, carrots and peas. Plenty of leftovers in the fridge. It was the first time I have cooked since developing Covid.

I tested negative today, thankfully, but I am nowhere near resuming my usual out and about routine. I'm still very tired, slept most of the afternoon. 😴

Thinking of our dear Soops, hoping and praying that they are cosy and comfortable and surrounded by love and all the help they require. Kind thoughts to all in or Quiet Corner too.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Monday evening, I'm settling down on the sofa for my Monday evening 📺 quizzes.

Blossoming Mon 27-Oct-25 19:29:01

So glad to see encouraging news FGT2: will keep my fingers crossed that all goes well.
We were blessed with an unexpectedly sunny day after a dreadful forecast. It’s very windy, so we wrapped up warm and headed to our favourite bit of seaside. Stopped at the farm butcher on the way home, treated ourselves to some of their lovely square sausage which we enjoyed in a toasty for lunch. We then had our usual circular walk around the dock, I’m definitely feeling stronger.
Have a lovely evening and a peaceful night, TOYA ♥️

Grannydaisy1 Mon 27-Oct-25 18:59:49

Pleased to hear your better news*FGT*,sending loving wishes to you both for the days ahead.

grandMattie Mon 27-Oct-25 18:33:04

Oh, fgt, such encouraging news. And I’m in admiration of Himself’s Gung ho attitude. Chemo is not for the faint hearted so may I wish him “Bon courage”. 🫂

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 27-Oct-25 18:25:11

Good news FGT2!

Granddaughter went back to Kew today. Her mum picked her up after lunch.

I thought she would have liked a morning doing Lego but oh no, she loves supermarket shopping so that’s what we did!

I’m shattered now. An easy dinner (chicken sandwiches) and an early night.

Usedtobeblonde Mon 27-Oct-25 18:10:37

Better news FGT, positive at least.
As you say better than we have done our best.
Rain here this morning but it brightened up later, however I didn’t feel up to going out.
I should be going to see my D and GC tomorrow but cancelled a couple weeks ago.
I am pleased now I did as I really wouldn’t enjoy it and I was able to get my money back.
An early night beckons , I hope it is a decent evening for you all.
I hope the Soop’s are comfortable and happy together enjoying simple pleasures.

Grandmabatty Mon 27-Oct-25 18:08:29

I'm glad to hear positive news from you FGT.

brook2704 Mon 27-Oct-25 17:58:53

Thank you for your update fgt , it’s positive news to have a treatment plan in place for your DH and hope the side effects are manageable. Thinking of you both x

Jaxjacky Mon 27-Oct-25 17:56:28

Definitely positive FGT after trepidation there is hope x

A relatively quiet day on the voluntary phone, a couple of the clients, as well as appointments wanted a chat, some are very lonely - blessings counted here.
I did get my tyres changed ‘can you get your locking wheel nut please?’ Well, I can now!
Quiz later, daughter and Imogen in our team 🙂

GrannyGravy13 Mon 27-Oct-25 17:40:12

Reassuring news FGT2 👍🏻

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 27-Oct-25 17:30:13

‘Evening All’

Well the guardedly good news is that Himself was assessed this afternoon and deemed fit for chemotherapy. The same one that he had last month but iv only this time (hopefully every 3 weeks - see in clinic the day before) and no chemotherapy tablets to go with this time. So, a lesser dose and see how he goes. 🤞

He is obviously delighted - quite gung ho.
Said coming out “Well I’m on the ropes but I’m still in the ring”.

I love this man and the fact that he is so mentally up for treatment. 💙

Although I’m pleased too, I’m always anxious about his tolerance - the possibility of his bloods being on the floor again. We will be back to checking temperature, monitoring for side effects as explained. “There’s always risk involved” cautioned the doctor in clinic.

Tell me about it.

However where there’s life there’s hope isn’t there? Better to have a glimmer of that, rather than being told “Sorry we’ve done our best”.

Ever onwards. Cautiously …. x

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 26-Oct-25 22:33:09

Hello kitchen people.

Just a quick visit - I’m exhausted!

We took granddaughter to an art exhibition this morning. She photographed her favourite exhibits. Then lunch at our favourite riverside pub.

She is going back to Kew tomorrow. My son will collect her sometime after lunch. We might fit in a quick trip to a Lego building activity in the morning - I love Lego - before doing the weekly shop.

Sleep 💤 tight. Especially the FGT2S who have a hospital appointment tomorrow.

Lovely photo Jax

brook2704 Sun 26-Oct-25 21:59:56

You very much deserve that wine Uttb especially after cooking a lovely roast dinner for 5 - well done to you and hope you sleep well tonight

Redcar Sun 26-Oct-25 21:51:09

What a lovely young lady jaxjacky you must be so proud of her.
I’m just going to bed utbb, I’d love a television set in my bedroom but there’s nowhere to put one! If I had one I’d probably go to bed at about 7 o’clock! I hate it when they change the clocks, it takes me about a week to adjust my body clock.
Night night everyone.

Grandmabatty Sun 26-Oct-25 20:38:54

That sounds lovely Utbb. I'm already in bed, listening to audible. I might get up soon for a cuppa though

Usedtobeblonde Sun 26-Oct-25 20:23:14

I have just come to bed to either read or find something to watch on television.
I cooked a full Sunday roast for 5 today ,the first time in months.
It was chicken with all the trimmings including Yorkshire puddings.
I am essentially a purist, only liking them with beef but the family like them with everything so I cooked them and I have to say they were good.
I didn’t clear up, left that for my GD and her BF while
I finished my wine, the only one having it.
Do I feel guilty?
Not at all.

I hope you all manage a decent night, I know it isn’t easy but my best wishes go to you all.

cornergran Sun 26-Oct-25 20:14:07

Imogen is just lovely jax, really poised and elegant. Thank you for sharing her with us.

It’s been a quiet day here. Motivation there was none. Did manage some ironing, Mr C changed the bed then it was on to some organising for tomorrow. Well, moving a heap or three of paper to create the illusion of tidiness. An Openreach engineer will attempt to connect us to full fibre broadband in the morning . I predict chaos and much muttering. I’m thankful the connection isn’t our responsibility , it will either work or it won’t. The engineer may need a whole heap of luck.

Hope you’re all having a good evening.
