Hello Kitcheners- hope you don't mind and apologies if a new kitchen has already been opened elsewhere but I couldn't find it if there has... I've done my best but it still needs a few throws and cushions to make it more homely, ready for the nights drawing in and chillier evenings. Some freshly baked scones, jam and cream on the side if you fancy a treat.
I hope you dont think it presumptious of me to start this kitchen as I don't post as regularly as some of you but do find Soops Kitchen a lovely place to drop into even if I've nothing to say.

Redcar Thu 18-Sept-25 18:25:00

Thank you mamaa the new kitchen looks good. I’ve brought a few cushions in for the chairs and a fleecy throw for anyone feeling chilly(although it’s been quite warm here today). I couldn’t find another thread so well done for opening up!

mamaa Thu 18-Sept-25 18:29:54

Oh Hello Redcar [wave] thankyou for your reply. I didnt want to tread on anyones toes; but with Jax on her holidays and Soop not very well, I thought I'd give it a go, as its now early evening.
I'm off to make some dinner now for 'I'm Indoors' and myself but I'll pop back later to read everyone's bizzyness as hopefully by then they'll have found us.

GrandmaC47 Thu 18-Sept-25 18:31:19

So pleased to see dear Soops kitchen open again. I’ll take a throw and go back to the quiet corner.
Hope our regulars find us quickly

BladeAnnie Thu 18-Sept-25 18:43:37

And I'll pop in with some nice new cushions and a bottle or two of fizz to share around 🥂

Grandmabatty Thu 18-Sept-25 18:58:54

Waving to mamaa and everyone else. I have homemade chocolate brownies on the worktop. Made by my daughter who is a phenomenal baker.

kittylester Thu 18-Sept-25 19:50:39

Thank you, mamaa. We need one- who ever opens it.

I'll follow GrandmaC47 into the quiet corner with some brownies and fizz.

brook2704 Thu 18-Sept-25 20:14:32

Thank you mamaa so kind of you to open the new kitchen, it’s so lovely and cosy with the comfy cushions and throws.

I hope everyone is doing ok, we’ve had sunshine all day here but it’s very windy - definitely a double pegging day for the washing

cornergran Thu 18-Sept-25 20:25:14

Thank you mamaa. I’m chilly tonight so have left some hot chocolate on the side as I head for the quiet corner.

Hope you’re feeling OK kitty and being sensible.

Take care everyone.

Redcar Thu 18-Sept-25 20:26:05

I’ve been at DD1’s all day looking after her dog and the granddaughters when they came home from school. They have a new sofa and I struggled all day to get comfortable on it. Yesterday’s yoga certainly gave my back a workout. Gradually improving with painkillers and a hot pad!
Thinking of those in the quiet corner and who are struggling in any way and hoping for a good nights sleep for us all.

Jaxjacky Thu 18-Sept-25 20:29:40

Thank you mamaa a comfy space, I’ve left various pasties ready to be warmed through.
It’s been cloudy with some drizzle of and on, a brief glimpse of the sun, beach walking, the car is a tip!
A tasty dinner and am now partaking of a glass, Sauvignon blanc, nicely chilled.
Cheers, your health all 🥂

Hello everyone in our new kitchen. Thank you mamaa for opening up. I love soops it’s a comforting place to be. The icing on the proverbial will be when soop and Baggs can pop in again. My thoughts are also with dear Blossoming tonight.

I hope you are comfortable after your op kitty?

Budge up please in the quiet corner. I like to sit awhile and calm my anxiety. Distraction is the name of the game for me these days to fend off feelings of panic. It’s good to be in here amongst the kindness of strangers isn’t it? GN at its very best. x

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 18-Sept-25 21:55:46

Hello kitchen people. It’s good to have a new kitchen. Chocolate brownies and a bottle of fizz are on the side.

I collected my latest Royal Academy print from the framers today. It is pretty d* good! It’s in my bedroom and I’m resting a print of a large pineapple vase.

I went to the U3A Art History lecture. It was on the Huns, Vandals and the two lots of Goths. One of my friends who is usually there always asks after OH’s bees and knees!

Have a good evening and I’m thinking of those in the kitchen who have heart rending difficulties. Sleep 💤 tight.

A lovely new kitchen, thank you mamaa. I'm often in the quiet corner, always lots of good company in there.

As FGT said, it will be perfect when our dear soop can join us, along with her good friend Baggs.

I wish you a good recovery kitty.

Warmest thoughts to you all. x

dragonfly46 Thu 18-Sept-25 22:41:24

How lovely, a new kitchen. I too am sitting in the quiet corner worrying about DHs appointment at the hospital on Monday.

mamaa Thu 18-Sept-25 22:42:11

So glad you’ve all found this edition of Soops Kitchen and thankyou for all the things you’ve added which continue to make it a haven for all who wish to enter and ‘rest awhile’.
Life throws us its curveballs and I like to think that here, in Soops Kitchen, we can share our good times and those which tbh are to be colloquial ‘rather a bit pants’!😉
Thankyou for your posts thus far, I was worried that I might have appeared as an upstart, but so didn’t want the Kitchen not to continue as it is our Haven and I thank lovely Soop for it. xx

SueDonim Thu 18-Sept-25 22:53:57

Such a pretty new Kitchen, thank you Mamaa. I’ve brought some late sunflowers in vases for the windowsills and some still-warm scones. I hope Soop can join us soon and that Baggs will be back, too.

I’m in FGT’s fending off the panic gang. Ds has his latest scan tomorrow. Must. Not. Think. About. It.

We had a very breezy day today as well, Brook. The washing dried well!

Dd2 arrives tomorrow for the weekend. Can’t wait to see her. We’re looking after 3yo GS too, he’ll be beyond thrilled to see her.

Sweet dreams, everyone. Xx

Catterygirl Thu 18-Sept-25 23:14:34

Glad to see you back. Have a good weekend and sleep tonight.

Mollygo Thu 18-Sept-25 23:56:14

I love to read the kitchen posts. Maybe I’ll make an effort to join in.

whywhywhy Fri 19-Sept-25 00:05:49

Can I join in the kitchen please? I could do with a lovely quiet corner with a rocking chair and wood burner. Brought along my crocheting project and mugs of hot chocolate.

Grran Fri 19-Sept-25 01:05:58

Thank you so much for opening a new kitchen, Mamaa. I, too, treasure this place♥️
Sleep well all

Hello all, 👋, glad I've found you, thank you, Mamaa for opening up.

There's a slow cooker full of lentil soup, with crusty bread on the side, please help yourselves.

It will do our dear Soop's heart a power of good to see so many lovely people visiting our cosy new kitchen. A very special welcome to all, old and new, regular posters or residents of the quiet corner, Soop has created this haven for us all.
TOYA.

Naughtyneine Fri 19-Sept-25 09:51:05

Mamas I'm so glad you have opened up a new kitchen, I did think about trying but a) I didn't know how to and b) I still feel a new kid on the block.
Happy Birthday Grandmabatty have a wonderful day.
SueD I pray that today's news is good for your DH.
FGT you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm not lingering long....as Soop would say the
Buggeration of pain has got to me over the last few days and weepiness is prevailing...( How stupid for a 70 year old but there is is)

Love to you all.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 19-Sept-25 10:02:36

Hope you get reassuring scan news today SueDonim. 💐
