Hello Kitcheners- hope you don't mind and apologies if a new kitchen has already been opened elsewhere but I couldn't find it if there has... I've done my best but it still needs a few throws and cushions to make it more homely, ready for the nights drawing in and chillier evenings. Some freshly baked scones, jam and cream on the side if you fancy a treat.
I hope you dont think it presumptious of me to start this kitchen as I don't post as regularly as some of you but do find Soops Kitchen a lovely place to drop into even if I've nothing to say.

Aww so lovely Yia thank you for the pictures
Hi blossoming thank you for the beautiful picture and well done with your walk
Today is the first really cold day we’ve had here in Inverness, we just went into town for a short walk by the river and definitely needed hat, scarf and gloves on.. The sun is out now but there’s not any warmth in it 🥶
Enjoy the special time with your granddaughter llfl
SueD enjoy your visitors and hope your DH and DS are both doing ok
Sending ❤️ to the Soops and thinking of everyone in the quiet corner x
I’m sure he’s looking forward to seeing you again Yia and will be purring on his flight ✈️
Afternoon all.
I’m posting latest photo of Spiros for anyone who is interested. He is with his lovely carer, she has looked after him since we left Corfu and will be taking him to the airport on Friday. Its a lot of organising but keeping us busy so all good.
Good afternoon dear Kitcheners. We have a lovely sunny day here, quite a contrast to yesterday. I hope you feel better soon Grannmarie. I always have the drops before my Botox jab Cornergran as they do an examination first. I think you’re having a different type of injection though.
We’ve had our usual circular walk taking in both bridges, just chilling now before our afternoon walk.
TOYA ♥️
Hello kitchen people.
I’ll be thinking of you both on Monday FGT2. Thinking of the Soops too.
I listened to a good talk at the local Art Society this morning. It was on Peggy Guggenheim.
After lunch elder son and his partner dropped off our granddaughter who is staying for a few days. They will pick her up on Monday. She is good company.
Sleep 💤 tight everyone. Don’t let those bed bugs bite.
It was a bit jax! .The bit I omitted was it all happened in just 25 minutes. I was still trying to catch up when we left
. Seriously so much easier than the three hour stint I’m used to. I’m not sure if future appointments can be at today’s venue, I can only hope. A glass of wine and a heated throw here now. Serious relaxation time.
Have a good evening everyone.
I’m pleased you’re improving Grannmarie it’s been a rotten bug.
Efficient GP utbb and Royal Mail, a very useful service.
Enjoy your curry Grandmabatty - probably gone by now 🙂
It all sounds exhausting * cornergran* I’m not surprised your feet are up.
Stretch class this morning, I’ve missed two weeks, but it was fine and I felt virtuous afterwards, nowhere near your diligence brook.
Then a fruitless attempt to get two tyres for my car, Monday now - I should’ve phoned first.
Yes I think of the soops often and am always grateful for this, her kitchen, we’re keeping it busy, I hope she knows.
FGT May you both have a wonderful weekend with pleasant news on Monday.
Mr J is at bowls - I have the remote controller…
I’ve got my hands full with visitors atm but had to pop in to say that I am so pleased for the FGTs. I hope he continues to make a good progress.
Have a good weekend, everyone. Xxx
I’m missing soop too and hoping that she’s comfortable and warm indoors.
cornergran I hope your eyes recover from the assault on them this morning!
utbb good that your doctor was able to put your mind at rest regarding your lesion.
grannmarie. I’m pleased you’re feeling better now, enjoy your video call with the wee boy.
Another good day for you and your DH fgt. I hope Monday’s hospital visit goes well and that some further treatment is offered to your DH.
An interesting appointment with the solicitor dealing with my godmother’s estate, with some more investigation for me to do. I’m exhausted!
Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone.
Busy hospital trip today. An eye test, drops, two scans, doctor appointment, local anaesthetic and an eye injection. First time I’ve had the dilating drops followed by an injection. I’m not sure my eye approved, I did as it saved another trip.
Injections are working, they will continue with a slightly wider gap between them, another three before a repeat of today’s process. I feel more than fortunate to get the treatment I am from a centre of excellence.
I’m smiling at a positive day for you both fgt. Wishing you the best possible outcome on Monday.
Prompt diagnosis and treatment is such a help uttb. I’m relieved it was available to you.
Hope you’re properly better very soon. granmarie. Rest if you need to.
You’ll be busy nannyt. Sounds delicious. Baking passes me by these days, just a lazy soul. That’s not a good mistake to have about your hip. Certainly doesn’t inspire confidence.
Yes, I do think we’re all missing soop, concerned about her and mr soop. too. Hope they’re both comfortable at home.
Feet up here now. It’s good for my eye
. Have a good weekend everyone.
Good evening Kitcheners. It's been another quiet day here in Batty Towers. I did some housework this morning and got most of the washing out of the road. This afternoon I had a nap and I've recently ordered a takeaway curry from my favourite Indian restaurant. I had a couple of deliveries, clothes for the boys and colouring books for them too. So a quiet day.
Grannmarie sleep is good. I hope you are feeling better. Nannytopsy that doesn't inspire confidence! Brook sometimes a listening ear is all that's needed. Fgt good luck for Monday
Hoping for the best possible news on Monday fgt 🤞
So pleased you got seen so quickly Uttb and prompt treatment too
I’ve been to a FitSteps dance class at the gym this morning and then onto DD2s this afternoon. I hadn’t planned to go but she messaged inviting me round so that was kind of her. I think she really just wanted a listening ear as she filled me in on all the latest going ons with her ex. partner 🙄
Hoping you’re over the worst now grannmarie and gradually getting back to normal, enjoy the catch up with your wee boy, he’ll be missing you too ❤️
Good evening everyone 🥰
You're right, FGT, we are all missing our dear Soop. Hoping and praying that she is cosy and comfortable with her devoted MrSoop. Glad to hear that you and Himself are getting out and about locally, enjoy your fish tea! I'll remember you both on Monday. 🙏
Excellent care from your GP surgery UsedToBeBlonde, prompt diagnosis and treatment will put your mind at rest.
Your baking sounds delicious, Nannytopsy, well done! I was never much of a baker, I make soups and stews!
I'm still sleeping a lot, not coughing quite so much. I've no energy or inclination for housework, it's taking me all my time to sanitise surfaces, empty bins and put a washing on. First day showered and dressed since Tuesday, that's how helpless I was...feeling a bit more human now. Think I'll have some cheesy scrambled eggs and toast, then I'm looking forward to a video call with the Wee Boy later, I'm missing our Friday routine.
I'm writing a Lidl list for DS3, he and lovely girlfriend will shop and drop for me tomorrow. I fancy a chicken to roast, it will do me a few days. I'm very thankful that I've supportive family. ❤️
Wishing everyone the best possible weekend, thinking of all our dear friends in the Quiet Corner. TOYA.
Fingers crossed for Monday FGT.
We had some decorating done while we were away and the chap came this morning with the keys. He had to be prompted to put all the door handles back and left everywhere covered in dust. 🤔. We still haven’t finished.
Baking for two different fund raisers this weekend - coffee & walnut, apple & lemon, and chocolate. Scones will be made on Sunday morning.
I have had contact from the hospital re my hip replacement. They offered a different consultant as mine has “a very long list” and I was very happy to accept. We didn’t hit it off! I was surprised when the booking clerk said it was for THR revision - No! It’s for my first new hip. Glad I won’t be seeing him again - how could he make such a basic mistake?
‘Evening All’. It’s quiet in here. I think we all continue to miss the heart of this kitchen. Soop we hope your days are smooth and pain free.
👋 to you though uttb glad you got seen to promptly with easy treatment to sort out that skin lesion.
Raining & cold here this afternoon. We went into the bank this morning then into some of the shops in the square - Home Bargains, Aldi, Iceland, Sainsbury’s. I’m not a fan in and out of them, but Himself enjoys looking round - and the exercise is good for him.
I then went over to see the Boy Wonder (13) on his own this week half term. Mum & L’il Miss finish today so the 3 of them will be home together next week.
I left Himself watching a film. Said he’d do his own lunch ✔️
Made cheese & ham toastie and then apparently ate a chocolate and fresh cream eclair (mindfully, because of the stent). 😮 be careful …
Fish & chips for my tea I’ve decided. I’ll go down for them at 5pm. Himself is brave enough now to pinch half a dozen of my chips!
I’ve got a ready meal fish pie for him & will make a sachet of parsley sauce on the hob to help it go down more easily.
We will eat together at the table - just different meals! 💕
Our days continue to be good. I’m very grateful.
I could get used to this.
Enjoy the weekend everybody if you can. I hope any anxieties are small and soon resolved reassuringly wherever possible.
We go back to the out patient clinic at Christie’s on Monday afternoon to see if another treatment plan is possible to try. My darling man fervently hopes so. Our life together hinges on one. 🤞
I’m nervous already thinking about it and I’ll let you all know how we fare next week. Thank you for keeping us in your hearts. x
A late Good morning.
I have had two success’s this morning.
A parcel I had trouble returning to an online company has just been picked up by Royal Mail collection, a service recommended on GN and I sent an email to my GP surgery this morning about a sore spot on my nose which wouldn’t clear at 8 am and I was seen by an actual Dr at 10:15.
I have Actinic Keratosis, caused by sun exposure which is ironic as I never sun bathe.
It is precancerous and would never clear without treatment.
I have cream which is very strong and it will get worse before it gets better, promised irritation and not looking very nice as it works but a very small price to pay.
Thinking of everyone else with so much more to worry about.
Oh FGT2 how delighted I was to read your wonderful post about your day, especially the encounter with the chap in the pharmacy, whose story must have given you such a lift.
Serendipity I guess is the word ?
So happy for you FGT
Fgt. Oh what a lovely uplifting post. Your news really cheered me up. Great to see Dixon back. Hugs to you and himself
What lovely news fgt so pleased for you both ❤️
Neine, good to see you in the kitchen, I hope your leg heals soon. 🙏
Great to hear about the FGTs happy day, wishing you both many, many more. Glad Himself is more comfortable now.💕
Thinking of the Soops, Dragonflies and all our dear friends with illness, worries or sorrow. Hope Grandmabatty's feet are a bit better and Redcar's back is less painful.
Sounds like your family visit was a great success, brook, well done on your hosting! I get quite anxious about family coming to stay now, never used to give it a second thought.
You sound comfy and cosy Cornergran, enjoy that blissful feeling.
Another jammies day, coughing and sleeping... I feel quite wiped out this time, so very tired. Lots of calls and texts from family and friends, patio drop offs from DS3 and DSis1, I have everything I need, and more, fresh flowers and tablet!
(Sweetie, not medication!🤣) Thank goodness I haven't lost my sense of taste, small pleasures lighten the mood.
My dear friend is still in HDU, her consultant is hopeful, she is still on oxygen, respiratory physio and combined IV antibiotics. We had a wee chat tonight, it was good to talk to her. Thank you for your kind wishes.
Wishing everyone a peaceful Thursday evening and a good night's sleep. TOYA, NNGB.
Such wonderful news, FGT - and such help from the hernia belt. Brilliant! (You sound very uplifted and more like your old self) 🫂
