Hello Kitcheners- hope you don't mind and apologies if a new kitchen has already been opened elsewhere but I couldn't find it if there has... I've done my best but it still needs a few throws and cushions to make it more homely, ready for the nights drawing in and chillier evenings. Some freshly baked scones, jam and cream on the side if you fancy a treat.
I hope you dont think it presumptious of me to start this kitchen as I don't post as regularly as some of you but do find Soops Kitchen a lovely place to drop into even if I've nothing to say.

Stunning Grannmarie you shout be well home now. Nowhere near as interesting, but we had blue sky and sun today for a few hours, which of course show everything, so off I went to buy a window vac.
It was a pleasant walk today too, leisurely instead of rushing in the gloom.
I hope the drops ease that ulcer llfl sounds painful.
Quiche for dinner, not home made.
Thoughts with FGT and himself.
Cheers to Blossoming going home tomorrow 🥂

Good morning everyone 🥰
We're in the airport, heading home now after a great wee break in Geneva. Yesterday we went to Chamonix in the stunning French Alps, beautiful scenery, blue skies and fresh fresh air!

Thinking of you all, especially our dear Soop and all with illness, worries or sorrow.

Hello kitchen people.

I am pleased to be tucked up in bed about to read a couple of Diana Henry’s essays on food.

It’s been a busy day. It was the U3A monthly lunch. It was all delicious.

I popped into Boots and spoke to the Pharmacist about the ulcer on the roof of my mouth. She recommended some antiseptic numbing drops.

WI this evening. We tried different foods from around the world. I took along a whole orange cake and some rich chocolate cakes. They seemed to go down well.

Sleep 💤 tight.

Hi all, late to the party, I have square eyes, Blue Lights, then Traitors.
Another dull day, sorted out bulbs, I'm not planting in the tubs until we’ve had a good dose of rain, due at the weekend. I saw a Hellebore in flower today, tucked away, so cleared some space around it of dead nigella and some California poppy,.
My garden helper is here next week, she’s more agile than me and we’ll work together for final clearing.
How disconcerting utbb .
Thanks brook it’s daft, so many others have far more serious worries, what a beautiful walk you have.
Now to choose a book for bed, book club or latest Robert Galbraith?
Night all.

Another dull day here today, my friend visited, such hard work, she only wanted a glass of water, she didn’t feel well.
This is almost every week now, I truly wish she stayed at home.
Her D and SiL are coming on Friday and I am invited to join them for a meal at a local Italian for friend’s birthday next week..
We had some small excitement this morning.
When I switched my iPad on this morning there was a notification from the ring doorbell of a person detected at 2; 30 am. When I checked it was the police, two officers in full gear , knocking on the door but not ringing the bell.
One was heard to say ,this is the number, however they only knocked once and then went away.
My GD rang the non emergency number and after asking the name of the homeowner, me, names of all living here , the responder said there was no record of a visit or incident reported.
We are still in the dark as to what happened and why.
It unsettled me but it seems for no reason.
My little cat is now protesting loudly that she hasn’t been fed so I must rectify that while wishing you all a peaceful night.

It's a very hearty soup, brook.
I spent a lovely two and a half hours blethering with a friend this morning. This afternoon I took to my bed, as the saying goes. I just felt not right and I dozed off and on. Egg, chips and beans for dinner.

Hi kitchen pals, it’s been a beautiful autumn day here in Inverness, quite warm in the sunshine too - hope it’s been better for those of you further south too and the grey clouds have lifted
Hope you can get an appointment for your DH corner and he’s back to normal soon
After the gym I enjoyed a riverside walk back into town, did a bit of shopping, had a coffee and then got the bus home.
I’ve made your lentil soup grandmabatty so just finished a delicious bowlful, not much room for anything else now
I’ll be thinking of you on Friday Jax it’ll soon be over with
Hoping everyone in the quiet corner is doing ok, take care all x

Nannytopsy Wed 15-Oct-25 18:18:27

It’s quiet in here today. Suffolk has been damp, grey and chilly so we are glad to be heading for the sun. I hope you enjoy being home soon Blossoming. Thinking of everyone with mountains to climb.

Grey skies bring grey moods here.

Still, your good news cheered me blossoming. I’m more than pleased for you.

Both jabs accomplished and we’re both weary. The jabs or the skies? Who knows! I am concerned about Mr C. He’s just not right. My problem is how on earth do I put that on an e-consult? Wouldn't get past the first page. Once he agrees to an appointment I’ll need to be creative.

Our friends’ funeral isn't until next week. It seems totally right to have a joint service. It does seem a long while coming though. Death certificate delays and family holidays have been major factors. I know the waiting is feeding into my lack of positivity.

Night night everyone. Sleep well.

Blossoming be careful with your stairlift. Mine is the second I have had fitted, and the seat was so slippery that the fellow who demonstrated it almost slipped off. He immediately found a small, washable flat cushion for me, which I have used for the last 2 years.

I am also fed up with the miserable weather.

Redcar Tue 14-Oct-25 20:43:38

So pleased that the stairlift is working satisfactorily blossoming and that you’ll soon be back home! Another one who’s fed up with the gloom outside, quite cold here today too. I saw my dementia friend this afternoon, her house was cold and I was glad to get home.
Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone, sleep well.

Jaxjacky Tue 14-Oct-25 19:39:06

Anti cyclonic gloom apparently GrannySomerset sounds about right 🙂

Usedtobeblonde Tue 14-Oct-25 19:29:32

Good evening all.
Like most places a dull day here though not cold.
I have had a quiet and lazy day.

I had no reaction at all to my Covid and flu jabs , not even a sore arm, I have been tired but nothing unusual about that.
Yesterday as well as my jabs I stripped my bed, got the Night Lark duvet washed and dried and back on, as well of course as clean sheet and pillowcases, I also did two other loads of washing and did some tidying so felt justified today “resting “

I hope the stairlift is in satisfactorily Blossoming
How you must be ready for home.

I wish you all a peaceful evening and a restful night’s sleep.

GrannySomerset Tue 14-Oct-25 19:18:44

So pleased by your news, Blossoming, getting home can’t come soon enough.

Today has been grey all day - Bill Bryson described such days as like living in Tupperware with the sky pressing down on one’s head. Not a lot of sunshine in the forecast either, but we have been lucky for so long that it was bound to come to an end. Still, I would hate to live somewhere with no seasons.

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 14-Oct-25 19:17:34

Excellent news Blossoming! 🌹

Jaxjacky Tue 14-Oct-25 18:47:51

Whoop, whoop Blossoming great news!
I’m actually getting quite antsy with the grey weather we’ve been having for the last few days, it’s doesn’t inspire outside work and today was chilly. Meaning I'm tending to be indoors with forays out for necessities and appointments, a plus is any dropped leaves are crunchy as it’s been dry too.
I’m also slightly fretting as Friday I have a molar out and an immediate denture put straight in, off my blood thinners for two days prior as instructed. I’m sure this time next week all will be fine.
Enjoy your evenings.

brook2704 Tue 14-Oct-25 18:29:00

That’s such lovely news Blossoming, not long to wait now 💐

hulahoop Tue 14-Oct-25 17:57:16

Blossoming Tue 14-Oct-25 16:24:57

So pleased the biopsy results were good Grandmabatty. Fingers crossed for your husband now YiaYia.
