Hello Kitcheners- hope you don't mind and apologies if a new kitchen has already been opened elsewhere but I couldn't find it if there has... I've done my best but it still needs a few throws and cushions to make it more homely, ready for the nights drawing in and chillier evenings. Some freshly baked scones, jam and cream on the side if you fancy a treat.
I hope you dont think it presumptious of me to start this kitchen as I don't post as regularly as some of you but do find Soops Kitchen a lovely place to drop into even if I've nothing to say.

Thank you for the update Baggs

The kitchen just isn’t the same without our dear soop

Sending her love and (((hugs)))

gillgran Tue 07-Oct-25 16:26:28

Thank you, Baggs, for keeping us up to date with dear soop.
I do hope that the transfusion helps the anaemia.
Good that carers & a treasure of a cleaner are helping.
soop is certainly very precious to us lot in her gransnet kitchen.
Sending best love. x

Just spotted this Baggs. Thank you for keeping us in the loop. Lots of love to the Soops.

Baggs Tue 07-Oct-25 16:11:17

Hello, kitcheners! The latest news from soop is that she is going to be taken by ambulance to Campbeltown Hospital tomorow to have a complete blood transfusion. If I understood correctly this is because she is very anaemic.

Soop has carers and a nurse coming in daily and, what pleases her almost as much, a cleaning lady who dusts and polishes beautifully. Those of you who have known soop for while will know that dusting and polishing and having everything spick and span is very important to her. I'm glad she is getting help with that. Having no energy, soop is unable to do very much at all. Even holding a feather duster is more than she can cope with.

Treatments for pain are to be reassessed.

In the meantime, I have been ordered to tell you that soop sends her love and that you are PRECIOUS people. She thinks of her Gransnet Kitchen often and all who visit it.

Fgt and dragonfly in my thoughts today. Good luck for this afternoon

GrandmasueUK Tue 07-Oct-25 11:44:34

Thoughts and prayers for the FGTs and the dragonflies as always. I rarely post now, but do read and you are always in my prayers, along with dear Soop and her family. ❤️

Thinking of FGT and sorry to hear dragonfly has worries too.

brook2704 Tue 07-Oct-25 08:00:14

Hoping all goes well for your appointment too dragonfly
So good that you’ve a holiday to look forward to next week nannytopsy, enjoy the rest and relaxation and hope you sleep a bit better too

Nannytopsy Tue 07-Oct-25 05:22:14

Love to Dragonfly and to FGT for their upcoming appointments.
Yiayia Corfu looks lovely. Please leave some of that sunshine for us - we go to Kos next week. I have given up hope for my hip replacement any time soon so we have booked for a week of sunshine.
I can’t get back to sleep. I don’t think 4 hours is enough.
Hope you are all fast asleep still

FGT2 will be keeping fingers and toes crossed for both of you ♥️

I have had a good day, the storm abated this afternoon and MrB and I have been out for a walk in the sunshine. I have no idea what the future holds for me but this evening I am happy.

Himself is to start on a new iv chemotherapy regime tomorrow afternoon at the Christie. It’s a big step. The success rate is apparently only 20% but as he said “20% of something is better than 20% of nothing at this stage.”

Oh my darling brave man. xx

Jaxjacky Mon 06-Oct-25 18:59:40

Hi all, I feel angry with you GG13 they have absolutely no idea, it’s caused total upheaval in our family.
Our 12 year old grandson, very tall, we both get hugs and ‘love house’ brook, it’s special.
A busy day on the phone, not the number, but the complexity, still, I’ve done what I can.
I think Grannmarie there are those study and take quiz seriously, then some like us who have fun and are amazed if we get placed! your weekend sounds delightful..
I hope the FGT’s had a reasonable consultation this afternoon.

Grannmarie Mon 06-Oct-25 16:22:04

Redcar, I'm so sorry to hear about your dear Godmother, may she rest in peace. 🕯💐 Thinking of you, glad you've got your family round about you.

Grannygravy, I'm sorry to hear that your opinionated friend has upset you. Such offensive ignorance would be hard to deal with at any time, but especially so on your holidays when she is your host. 💐

Grandmabatty, sounds like you are back to your busy domestic goddessing, but I'm glad you managed a nap, very wise.

brook, so lovely to have cuddles from your DGS, long may they continue! Hope your DGD enjoys her residential trip.

YiaYia, glad to hear that your sons holidayed with you, and that your DH has enjoyed the break and the sunshine☀. Safe journey home. ✈

Heartwarming to hear that the FGTs have been enjoying special family get togethers with all the generations, making memories. 💕💐

Hoping and praying that our dear Soops are managing likewise, with the love and support of family and friends in these difficult days. 💕🕯💐

UsedToBeBlonde, I'm glad you are safely home, I hope you are feeling a wee bit better and that your ongoing family issues settle down soon with some support from your DGS's school. 💐

I enjoyed having DGD staying over at the weekend. She loves to shop so we went to a big retail park along the motorway, where she used some of her birthday vouchers to buy clothes for their upcoming holiday. I bought a new pair of Skechers for mine! 🤣She enjoyed a pumpkin frappocino and 🎃 brownie in Starbucks, Gran's treat! I made her favourite beef links sausages in onion gravy with mash, we both enjoyed that. Later we joined in with TV quizzes, she shares my love of quizzing. Her Papa and I used to enjoy that on a Saturday evening. 💕📺. DS1 and DDIL1 came to collect her on Sunday afternoon, we had lentil soup and rolls, then tea and shortbread. Good to have a catch up with them.

Usual counting of collections after Mass this morning, then to Morrisons to get passport type photos to apply for new driving licence, I've still got my original pink paper one! I look like a criminal. 🤣

Washing and some housework this afternoon, more drying indoors... then TV quizzes this evening.

Good luck for your quiz, Jaxjacky, one of these nights you'll win it! Glad your family gathering went down well, along with your lasagne.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Monday evening, especially those with illness, worries or sorrow. Thinking of our dear friends in the quiet corner. 💕TOYA
