Hello Kitcheners- hope you don't mind and apologies if a new kitchen has already been opened elsewhere but I couldn't find it if there has... I've done my best but it still needs a few throws and cushions to make it more homely, ready for the nights drawing in and chillier evenings. Some freshly baked scones, jam and cream on the side if you fancy a treat.
I hope you dont think it presumptious of me to start this kitchen as I don't post as regularly as some of you but do find Soops Kitchen a lovely place to drop into even if I've nothing to say.

Oh UTBB that sounds so hard for you. I can't offer help but I do offer sympathy 💐
Utbb 💐
Good afternoon all.
I just need a little moan which I can’t do to family.
I do know many are much worse of than me but as Isay frequently to others that doesn’t take my frustrations away.
My GS 16 now living with me and his father is going down with his mental health problems and it is tearing us apart.
He is struggling so much and although help for him is in the pipeline it is slow and frankly not enough.
He has had to be coaxed, forced , blackmailed into going to school which is totally unsuitable for him .
It is breaking our hearts.
I have had to lie to my difficult friend as to why I won’t be seeing her today as she is “ under so much stress over her CH boiler needing a new pump” she feels ill with it all.
I just couldn’t face it for the 3rd week, and it is now fixed but she still told me for 20 mins on the phone this morning just how dreadful it has been.
She just brings me down.
There I have ranted, I don’t feel any better but I have said it.
In the midst of all this I am trying to get a few bits together for two nights away in Nottingham with my friend across the road.
I just wish I could go with an easy mind and enjoy it without worrying about it all the time.
Sorryto go on and on but it is all I can think about and the tears won’t stop.
Redcar, I hope you find your dear Godmother comfortable when you go to visit tomorrow.
Blossoming, you are making great progress, well done you! Sounds like you and MrB had a lovely time in one of your favourite places. 💕
I love a seafood pasta, Nannytopsy, especially if its made for me! That's what I chose in the restaurant on Sunday evening. Enjoy!
Happy 78th birthday to your friend, Jaxjacky, good for him. Glad you're still enjoying your garden.
Well done on your gym classes, brook, ITIKWYM about getting dressed after the pool! I usually bring Cuticura talc but it can be a bit messy in a small changing cubicle. I'm booked for Strength and Balance after Aquafit on Thursday. 🤞
Not much sunshine here today, cloudy with light drizzle. I met my sister at Aquafit, then met my friend for lunch at a garden centre in the Clyde Valley, very popular and busy. Good to catch up. On my way home I popped into see my sister and brother in law, took her some photos of her with DH and their siblings at family celebrations, happy times. Another busy day.
Thinking of the Soops, FGTs, SueD and all our friends in the quiet corner.
Wishing everyone a peaceful Tuesday evening and a good night's sleep. TOYA, NNGB.
Glad you’re doing so well, Blossoming. My dsis, who lives in your area, said it was a lovely day so she and her dh were off for walk, to Tesco’s 😂.
I’ve just biked to nowhere for 30 minutes to make up for reading all afternoon.
Thinking of all with mountains to climb.
Back to the quiet corner I go.
Thank you for your kind wishes for my godmother jax and brook. She has been moved to another ward and has a nasty infection which hopefully will respond to treatment soon.
I saw my dementia friend this afternoon, she looked at me and said hello, but I doubt she knew who I was.
A lovely warm sunny day today, I enjoyed the sunshine when I went for my walk this morning.
blossoming it’s good that you were able to enjoy the sunshine when you had your walk. The forecasts for the end of the week are pretty dire so I doubt I’ll walk in the wet.
Thinking of everyone sheltering in the quiet corner.
Night night everyone.
Good to hear you’re doing so well Blossoming, well done
It’s been another lovely sunny day here, I did aqua aerobics at the gym then the usual aerobics class, it would have been much better the other way round as I couldn’t easily get my stretchy gym gear back on after getting dried - my skin did feel dry but my clothes decided otherwise and got stuck in all sorts of tangles. Then a coffee with a pal to recover and a walk back into town. I think we’re in for a wet and windy weekend up here so making the most of the lovely weather just now.
Well done to your friend Jax, working 30 hours a week at 78 is incredible, an inspiration to others
Hoping your godmother is feeling a bit better redcar
Thinking of all in the quiet corner, hope everyone is doing ok, take care all x
Granmabatty I’d be in heaven eating that food, our nearest one is Brighton, it’s noted!
I hope your friend is improving Redcar food poising is truly debilitating, most unpleasant.
A great post Blossoming coming on leaps and bounds, good to hear.
Another lovely day here once the morning chill had passed, I was out and about on various chores, but did faff about in the garden for a while later. Then we met a good friend in the pub, it was his 78th yesterday, he was out with his partner last night, he still works 30 hours a week, bravo.
We’ve friends in Cornwall at the moment enjoying a break, they’re in short sleeves, we were in coats 2 weeks ago!
Have a good evening all.
We have received a gift breakfast in the post from Dishoom. Very tasty indeed! I am jealous Grandmabatty.
It’s been a beautiful day in Suffolk but I have been mostly indoors doing admin and then a WI committee meeting here.
DH is creating a fishy pasta dish in the kitchen so I am keeping out of his way, with my glass of rose.
Enjoy the evening
X
Good evening everyone, I have struggled to get onto Gransnet today as the site was having problems. I’m feeling better today than I have for some time, the district nurse has been to check my skin, has supplied a new barrier cream which is working well and has organised a prescription for steroid cream from the GP to help clear up any problem areas. Every time I have to go into hospital I end up with horrendous skin problems from having canulae, injections, blood samples, dressings, etc. Hopefully all on the mend now. MrB has been to see me twice today and we had a lovely walk around the Marina in the warm Autumn sunshine.
Wonderful news FGT2, hope to hear from SueD soon.
Goodnight, dear kitchen friends, TOYA ♥️
That breakfast looks good grandmabatty, lovely to have time with your DS.
This morning I met a friend for coffee at Hyde Hall, an RHS garden. I hadn’t seen her since June, so a lot of catching up to do. Then we had a mooch round the gift shop, it’s a particularly good one and very easy to spend a lot of money . She then went home and I had a little walk in the winter garden. Although there were a lot of people in the cafe, the gardens are so big that it’s easy to get away from people. It was sunny and warm and felt very peaceful.
Just as well really, as I heard that my godmother had been taken into hospital this morning. She’s had food poisoning for most of the last two weeks and isn’t eating or drinking much. Apparently she did manage some food this afternoon so hopefully will begin to recover now. As she’s 100, she’s fairly frail physically, but not much wrong with her brain fortunately.
My phone has been red hot with all the messages.
I’ll see her on Wednesday, there are lots of friends who want to go and see her, so I have to join the queue!
Hopefully tomorrow will be a calmer day, I’ll see my dementia friend in the afternoon, and I think there’s more ironing to be done. I seem to create an awful lot of ironing considering there’s only me!
Thinking of those in the quiet corner and those who are suffering poor health.
Night night everyone.
I would just like to add, there were two breakfasts there. I'm not quite as greedy as that! I had cheesy chilli toast with fried eggs and a side of sausage. Assam tea. Ds had all the rest! 😂
What a treat, Grandmabatty, looks amazing! Sounds like a wonderful time with your DS.
Good evening, lovely Kitchen people.
Catching up with all your news, great to hear about the Soops from Baggs, many thanks. So glad they are seeing family and were able to attend the Blessing. Sending love and prayers to them and all who need/ wish them, especially those with illness, worries or sorrow. 💕🙏🕯
Wishing safe journeys and happy times to those on holidays or visiting family, enjoy your special days.
Hope Grandmabatty had a good catch up with her son, also hoping for reassuring news for her on the health front. Lovely autumn decorations. 🎃 I must look mine out soon but I need to clean the windows before decorating the ledges!
Glad you're still enjoying your garden, brook, you tend it so well. I've some spring bulbs to pot, must make an effort. I bought some nice hanging baskets of winter pansies from Tesco, they have replaced the petunias at the front and back doors.
Jaxjacky, you've had a very busy day, got lots done! Well done on winning your gammon, your post reminded me of Phoenix's clever verse. Enjoy your Quiz night. 🤞
I've been keeping myself busy, seems to be my coping strategy these days. Last week I went to my first Strength and Balance class at our Sports Centre, met half a dozen friendly ladies and gents, but the instructor didn't turn up. Fingers crossed for better luck this week. 🤞
DiL2 brought the Wee Boy over for lunch on Friday, local holiday so no school. My sisters joined us and we had a wee woodland walk, gathering conkers and acorns with hats on, lovely afternoon ending up at the playpark.
I spent the weekend dog sitting for my brother and sister in law, their old labradoodle is great company, nice and relaxing. I got some knitting done, listening to Sounds of the Sixties and old episodes of Desert Island Discs, later started watching House of Guinness with the dog beside me on the sofa. 🐕 📺
Last night we took our visiting Australian cousin out for dinner. It was lovely to see her, her Mum is our first cousin. She told me that the family in Australia had watched DH'S funeral on the video link. ❤️
This morning after Mass, I helped with the counting and banking preparation of the weekend collections, it's my new Monday job! Came home and washed the bedding, had lentil soup for lunch then had a sofa siesta cos I didn't sleep well last night. Fish fingers and salad pitta for dinner, now settling down for my Monday night quizzes on BBC 2. 📺
Wishing everyone a peaceful Monday evening and a good night's sleep. TOYA.
Wow grandmabatty that’s some breakfast! Looks amazing and I’m so pleased for you, a trip to The Ivy too, what a lovely day!
That all looks delicious and I love the plates!
Hello Kitcheners, I hope everyone is as well as they can be.
Today I was in Edinburgh with my ds for breakfast at a fabulous restaurant called Dishoom. We were there by ten and it was incredibly busy with queues waiting. Fortunately he had booked a table. The breakfast was wonderful and the service excellent. I've included a photo of our meal. When we left, the queue was right round the block! I've never seen a queue like that for breakfast. After that, he took me to The Ivy where I had a mocha. All in all, I felt very spoiled but the best bit was his company.
Later I picked up the boys and spent an hour with them before dropping off dgs1 at football training. Dgs2 was in one of his best moods.
Dinner is in the oven. Mince round and chips. Not exactly healthy but quick. Yesterday I made an apple and blackberry crumble, so I'll have some of that too. Then an early night for me. Take care xx
Hello kitchen people.
I’ve had a busy day too. While our Cleaner cleaned, I shopped at Waitrose and dropped two dresses and two pairs of ankle boots at a Charity shop.
Back home I made a batch of clotted cream ice cream. I also made two lots of stuffing mix - my own recipe. Finally a pan of bread sauce (with nutmeg rather than cloves). We are having a biggish lunch this Sunday and I don’t want to be tied to the kitchen. Everything I made today is now in the freezer.
Have a good evening everyone. OH is heating leftover chicken curry for dinner and cooking some more rice. I made lemon surprise pudding yesterday and there’s some left. Dinner is sorted.
Hi all, busy day on the voluntary phone, 14 calls, 10 lifts to medical appointments sorted, in between I dropped library books back also got towels washed and dried. It’s been a lovely sunny day, sadly I couldn’t make the best of it, a quick dinner, then quiz.
Hope everyone here has had a decent one - getting cooler now, I need socks!
So good to have news of the Soops and add my goof wishes to everyone else’s.
Baggs it's so lovely you are in touch with Soop and Mr Soop. Please send them my love and prayers.
Thank you Baggs. Please let dear soop know that we are all thinking off them both.
Thanks again Baggs Pleased to hear the family was able to visit. Love to both of the soops.
Thank you baggs for the update on soop I’m so pleased for both of them that they’ve had visits from family and were able to attend the blessing. Sending lots of love there way 💐
