Hello Kitcheners- hope you don't mind and apologies if a new kitchen has already been opened elsewhere but I couldn't find it if there has... I've done my best but it still needs a few throws and cushions to make it more homely, ready for the nights drawing in and chillier evenings. Some freshly baked scones, jam and cream on the side if you fancy a treat.
I hope you dont think it presumptious of me to start this kitchen as I don't post as regularly as some of you but do find Soops Kitchen a lovely place to drop into even if I've nothing to say.

Happy birthday, Charleygirl, sorry I'm late! Sounds like you had a lovely day. 🎂🥳💐

Happy holidays 🏖✈️🌞 YiaYia, Nannytopsy and all on their travels!

Wonderful to hear that Kitty💐 is safe home, and Blossoming💐 is posting again. Wishing good recoveries to both.

What kind friends, Redcar, your garden will be looking so well maintained! Mine is a bit neglected these days, must try harder...

UsedToBeBlonde, 💐 🙏hope things improve for you and your family very soon. We never stop worrying about our children. If they are OK, we are OK.

You are a great help to your DD, brook, so lucky to live nearby.

Hope you and your car are OK now, Grandmabatty. We are lost without them.

I'm taking my sister and her old rescue cat to the vet this afternoon, fingers crossed 🤞 I come back with both of them. He hasn't been great recently. 🐈‍⬛💙

Work has started on next door's extension, so far so good. The builders are very polite and considerate concerning parking etc. It's bright and dry so good weather for the groundwork.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Tuesday, thinking of the Soops, FGTs, SueDs and all with illness, worries or sorrow. TOYA. 🥰

Happy birthday for yesterday Charleygirl ! I’ve put an apple cake on the side for you x

cornergran Tue 23-Sept-25 02:09:29

Belated wishes from me too charley. Hope there has been cake. Just in case not 🎂🎂x

Redcar Mon 22-Sept-25 22:33:12

charleygirl a belated happy birthday, I’m glad you had a pleasant day with lots of cards and messages!🥂🎂🎉

Charleygirl5 Mon 22-Sept-25 22:29:13

corner I was so sorry to read about your friend's death, and her husband is also in a care home. Perhaps it is as well that he will not know precisely what is happening, but their poor daughter will.

I hope you and Mr C are resting and enjoying walks along the sea front.

It was my birthday today, and it was so pleasant with so many emails, e-cards and phone calls, but my heart stopped temporarily because it was the husband of an Irish cousin who rang, but it was to wish me a happy birthday, whereas I had thought the worst.

My heating decided to take a holiday, so luckily somebody is coming on Wednesday, which I had planned last week to be ready for winter.

cornergran Mon 22-Sept-25 20:11:43

That made me smile, kitty. Hope you’ve made it by now and Mr Leicester is looking after you. Mr C said he’ll send his Butler uniform if it helps. smile.

I’m sorry utbb. You need no more stress. Life can be hard.

Thank you all for your thoughtful comments. Our friend was very unwell indeed, sadly it was time for her to leave us. Although geographically distant supporting her daughter has meant we’ve recently been aware of every detail, we were as prepared as anyone can be. Our friends husband, of course also a friend, who is very frail is cared for in a Home. Dementia means he remembers little of today. Horrible situation for their daughter. We’ll hang on to happy memories of them both

Goodnight Blossoming. Look after yourself.

Love that knight outfit nannyt while understanding you need a holiday!

Hope your holiday is a wonderful one yia and gives you both some respite, a chance to re-charge a bit.

There seems to be a glass of the weekends wine left. It woukd be a shame to waste it.

Rest well everyone.

Redcar Mon 22-Sept-25 19:52:13

kitty I hope you’re safely home now and will make a speedy recovery there.
utbb I hope that your DS’s employers can help him to continue working despite his mental health issues.
blossoming I hope you have a restful night and wake up feeling refreshed tomorrow.
Two of my lovely neighbours/friends came round this morning, one cut the grass in the back garden and the other one spent a long time cutting back some of the shrubs growing from his garden over into mine. It all looks so much tidier and I’m so grateful to them both. I hope to be fit enough next year to be able to do some of it myself.
My godmother has been ill again but has agreed reluctantly to accept a carer three times a day for the next week to help her. Fingers crossed she’s soon able to eat again!
Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone, safe travels to those on the move and Happy holidays to those travelling to foreign climes!

brook2704 Mon 22-Sept-25 18:51:11

Lovely picture nannytopsy thanks for sharing
Hope you’re home now kitty and well on the road to recovery
Goodnight blossoming, hope you sleep well
utbb 💐

Usedtobeblonde Mon 22-Sept-25 18:40:41

I hope you are safely home kitty get completely well soon and let everyone look after you.
Things here are more muddled than ever.
I won’t say just how at the moment but my S’s boss will not accept his notice, they hope to work something out to help him cope with his mental health.
I pray it will be helpful.
I can’t cope much longer.

Blossoming Mon 22-Sept-25 18:14:55

Hello lovely kitcheners, it’s been a full on day and I’m so tired, so I’ll just say goodnight and love to you all xx

kittylester Mon 22-Sept-25 16:17:21

Happy holidays yiayia - make lots of lovely memories.

Enjoy yours too topsy when you go.

Uttb, I have an inkling of how you feel. My Bil left lots of jobs very 'precipitously' and was a huge worry to my parents in law though he didn't have a diagnosis - it wasn't so common then. The trouble is, we never quite let go of being a mum, do we?

I gave good news and bad news! I am already to go but DH has gone home for a cuppa and to get changed. Good job I'm not strong enough to commit murder.

Nannytopsy Mon 22-Sept-25 15:26:32

Enjoy your holiday Yiayia. We are off to Kos in a little over 3 weeks. This will be a holiday - last week was a lovely treat to spend it with the DGC but at 3 and 20 months, it was not a holiday!
Someone got a knight outfit from a chateau …

brook2704 Mon 22-Sept-25 15:11:47

Oh so sorry to hear about the latest stresses and worries uttb, thinking of you, wish I could help, such difficult times for you and your family, please look after yourself ❤️
So pleased you’ve got your car back now grandmabatty and you’re mobile again
I’ve been out all morning, DD2 messaged to ask if I’d help with a few things so I’ve been round there this morning tidying the children’s bedrooms and putting washing away etc. I don’t mind helping out now and again as she’s busy, even though we both know she should do it herself!
Have a wonderful holiday Yia enjoy every minute together 😎😎

Grandmabatty Mon 22-Sept-25 14:44:16

UTBB your son is very fortunate that you are there. Is he having medical treatment? He really should as he's relying on you too much. I have some experience of this, as my brother walked out of three jobs for various reasons but ultimately he knew mum would support him. I found my job challenging at times but it wouldn't have occurred to me to rely on my parents as an adult. It seems like everyone relies on you UTBB and who looks after you?
Yiayia have a lovely holiday! I have just picked up the car from my lovely garage and I have my feet up for a bit.

Redcar Mon 22-Sept-25 13:50:39

Oh dear utbb I’m sorry things are so difficult for you at the moment but can only hope life improves soon.

Changing the subject completely, yiayia have a wonderful holiday, I hope the weather is more settled than it is here and you can relax a bit away from the
pressures of home!

Usedtobeblonde Mon 22-Sept-25 13:24:01

I am sorry to say the wheels have come off again today after a reasonable day yesterday.
Just to précis what is happening , my S who lives with me and now we have his very autistic S living here also, suffers with anxiety and depression, he had about 7 months off work last year and hasn’t been back very long .
I could see he wasn’t happy but didn’t ask too many questions so as not to rock the boat.
He texted me late last night, from his bedroom, he isn’t talking at the moment to say he has handed his notice in as he is being bullied at work!!
So I feel I must add Paranoia to the mix.
I will try to get him to talk when he gets home today.
He may or may not engage.
His ex partner is not in the picture.

Jaxjacky Mon 22-Sept-25 11:12:54

Have a marvellous holiday Yia it should be warmer than here and your happy place.

Yiayia4 Mon 22-Sept-25 11:03:46

Morning Kitcheners,we don’t eat late these days UTBB its. great fun getting old isn’t it?

Sorry about your friend Corner you must have so many memories.🌻

Doing the last of the packing today,I always take to much!We had to declare the last scan DH had to the travel insurance and it’s costing more than our holiday! But it’s worth it when you don’t know what’s round the corner.I have 2 cousins in Corfu at the moment so will be nice to meet up.
Will be thinking of you all and will pop in when I can.
Love to you all.

Usedtobeblonde Mon 22-Sept-25 00:53:53

After my better day I am not enjoying a better night. Simply because I ate too late.
I know eating late no longer suits me and although my GD also knows this, her best intentions didn’t work out and it was after 7:30 when we ate.
I am now unable to sleep, feeling bloated and uncomfortable.
I have had Gaviscon to no effect.
I remember the days when we wouldn’t go out for a meal until 7:30 and if it was at someone’s house it would be sometimes 8:30 when we ate, those days seem a lifetime away, well actually they were!!

mamaa Sun 21-Sept-25 22:51:04

Evening everyone.
Thankyou Blossoming for taking the time to post the photos of Glasson Dock- they bring back some very happy memories. I hope you are feeling better. x

Redcar Sun 21-Sept-25 22:11:57

So sorry to hear about your friend corner. Hang on to the happy memories of parties and meals together.
utbb I’m pleased you’ve had a better day today. Sleep well tonight!
Night night everyone

Grannmarie Sun 21-Sept-25 22:05:04

Oh, Cornergran, I'm so sorry to hear about your dear friend. What happy memories you have, I hope they bring you some comfort in the days ahead.

Hoping that UsedToBeBlonde has had a brighter day, and that Kitty gets home soon.

Today has been a cousins day... phonecall this morning from one of our Australian cousins, who looked after us so well in our time there. Her daughter is travelling in the UK just now, so planning to welcome her soon. Then after Mass, my sisters and I enjoyed lunch at our local Chinese restaurant with five cousins from our Dad's side. We shared stories and memories of our Nanna, my Dad's Mum. Family history. 💕

Wishing everyone a peaceful Sunday evening and a good night's sleep. TOYA, NNGB.

Usedtobeblonde Sun 21-Sept-25 21:46:47

Corner I hope your memories of your friend are happy and comforting ones.
As we age it is inevitable we lose friends but we must remember the many, many happy times.
I have had a better day today, my GD’s BF was playing in a golf competition so she asked if I wanted to do anything.
I had ordered things from M&S online which were not suitable at all so we decided to return them in store.
Her friend who was “ home alone” for the weekend said she would like to go with us and we made the snap decision to buy the makings of a Sunday roast and cook at her friend’s house.
I just sat ,watched a film and was waited on.
We had roast chicken, stuffing, roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese and spring veg all practically ready for the oven, it was delicious.
BF joined us after golf, I had a G&T and two glasses of wine and enjoyed it all tremendously.
We got home about 30 mins ago and I am now in bed with a cup of tea, very tired.
I hope all your days were as good as you hoped they would be.

dragonfly46 Sun 21-Sept-25 21:09:13
