Hello Kitcheners- hope you don't mind and apologies if a new kitchen has already been opened elsewhere but I couldn't find it if there has... I've done my best but it still needs a few throws and cushions to make it more homely, ready for the nights drawing in and chillier evenings. Some freshly baked scones, jam and cream on the side if you fancy a treat.
I hope you dont think it presumptious of me to start this kitchen as I don't post as regularly as some of you but do find Soops Kitchen a lovely place to drop into even if I've nothing to say.

hulahoop I too missed your important Anniversary, sorry and many congratulations both 🥂
Looking ok to me Blossoming comfortable I hope.
I thought I’d posted last night, obviously not, probably typed and didn’t press post!!
A couple of days slipping back into our routine, Imogen went to London yesterday with my daughter to see the Lion King, it was booked a month ago for her 18th, they had a great day, tiring though.
What wonderful memories corner but a gap in your life, my condolences and a hug.
Let’s hope so kitty 👍

kittylester Sun 21-Sept-25 19:36:30

So sorry to hear about your friend, corner. 39 years is a long time. thanks

kittylester Sun 21-Sept-25 19:33:15

Nope, still here corner. But possibly tomorrow. I have no attachments and am on no painkillers so should be ok. Though, comfortable isn't a word I'll be using for a while.

Blossoming, you look so lovely inyou photo. And I enjoy hearing about your marina- we have one that we drive to and which has lovely scenery and a nice bar/restaurant

cornergran Sun 21-Sept-25 19:12:32

Apologies for missing your anniversary hulahoop. Good to hear you had an excellent day.

Wonder if kitty has made it home. Hope so.

It’s been a reflective day here. A good friend died in the early hours of the morning. I’ve been mulling over the fun we had during our 39 years of friendship. Many a New Years Eve, Christmas mornings together, BBQ’s in the rain, sharing food. There was always laughter. Our friend was very poorly indeed, it felt time she left us. We’re in close contact with her daughter, by phone, who is very capable but understandably exhausted.

Quiet evening ahead here. We’re off over the bridge to see another friend tomorrow, it feels a case of treasure the friends who are left while they are still with us.

Wishing everyone a peaceful evening and night.

neine I also have very fragile skin and have to be careful gardening I case I get scratched because the skin peels back! DD1’s dog was trying to get my attention a few weeks ago and I now have a scar where she caught my arm with her claws.
I have a Fiesta, so am easily intimidated by big tractors!!

Naughtyneine Sun 21-Sept-25 15:17:05

Congratulations Hulahoop... Glad you had a happy day 🥂

hulahoop Sun 21-Sept-25 14:59:32

Blossoming Sun 21-Sept-25 12:25:33

mamaa The Smokehouse is at Glasson Dock, we often go there to enjoy the Jubilee path and lunch at a lovely pub on the harbour. I’ll see if I can find a photo 😎

SueDonim Sun 21-Sept-25 12:05:39

Ah, UTBB, you’ve never been bad - you accept your woes with remarkable forbearance. flowers

You look very restful in your photo, Blossoming. ❤️

I hope you’re having a good weekend, FGT. Xx

I’m sorry for not mentioning everyone, the kitchen seems to be very busy and I forget what I’ve just read! I do TOYA, though.

Apparently DS won’t get his scan results till later this week. It seems to chop and change as to when he gets them, sometimes it’s on his phone almost as soon as he’s left the clinic.

We’ve had a lovely weekend with dd2. She’s had to leave early today due to infernal works on the train lines, but we’ve enjoyed her company. My GC loved seeing their auntie though 3yo GS asked me ‘Granny, how do you know my mum’s sister??’ grin I didn’t confuse him by saying I was there when she was born!

Take care, all. Xxx

I did exactly the same at BioBank in Stockport last summer neine! A very thorough MOT.

Naughtyneine Sun 21-Sept-25 09:42:40

Blossoming took look absolutely blooming for someone who has been so poorly. Enjoy your stay at the nursing home and regain your strength. Having your hair done makes such a difference doesn't it. I had mine cut back to it's usually quirky short cut on Friday ( as opposed to the longer style that was suggested for the wedding). I felt so much better...and less Mumsy.
UTBB. I hope today is a much better day for you. Family issues cause so much stress and it seems that yours are not taking into account the toll it's taking on you. I hope they soon do...💐
Redcar where we live are lots of narrow lanes and tractors abound and some of them are huge. I drive a Lexus estate which is not small but some of the farm equipment could be quite intimidating if it wasn't for the fact that the drivers look more scared of a ditsy blonde driving a big car. Well done you on negotiating the drive. How fantastic that your Godmother is 100 and has managed to be self sufficient thus far. Good on her.
Kitty..I hope you are home soon and not too uncomfortable. ♥️
Do any other kitchen pals have thin skin that peels like a peach? I seem to cut at the slightest knock and chunks of skin are removed. DH has just patched the latest episode caused by Finlay and Storm charging off the bed as they spied a cat strolling past Henrietta MoHo. There is quite a hole in my shin now😱. It probably needs stitching or at least steri stripping but that will have to wait until later.
Yesterday's visit to the Bio Bank was intense. Scan to the brain, then another to Heart and Stomach followed by a Dexa scan...bloods taken, ECG, BP and then a 200 question lifestyle questionnaire to complete and then just as I thought my head was going to fall off a cognitive skills test to end with....puzzles, memory tests, problem solving etc. I reeled out of there. They give you a very brief summary with things like BMI, fat index all of which were ok...weight came out as 7lbs over recommended weight for height (170cm).
Needless to say the recuperative bar of Cadbury s didn't make an appearance. My leg is stinging like fury so it may well appear today.
Enjoy your day everyone.

cornergran Sun 21-Sept-25 00:53:29

Good to see you blossoming. Rest well, soon be home.

utbb flowers. Hope tomorrow, or should that be today, is easier for you.

BladeAnnie Sun 21-Sept-25 00:31:06

Feel better soon Blossoming

brook2704 Sat 20-Sept-25 22:15:26

Lovely to see you Blossoming 💐

dragonfly46 Sat 20-Sept-25 22:02:09

You look lovely Blossoming.
I hope tomorrow is less stressful UTBB.

Usedtobeblonde Sat 20-Sept-25 21:35:06

Oh Blossoming I thought you were home.
I hope your health improves and you are well looked after in the nursing home, you look so very well which I know is a problem.
I could be really ill and look blooming.
I have just come to bed, today has been very trying but I can only do my best and let things evolve, which they will.
I have decided I was very wicked in a previous life and am being tried and tested to see how I develop and change.
Is that Buddhism?

Grannmarie Sat 20-Sept-25 21:32:16

Lovely to hear from you Blossoming, get well soon and home to MrB.💕 How cheering to have your hair done almost on arrival! Glad you are close to home. 💐

Hoping that Kitty is cosy and comfy in hospital and that she returns home very soon. 💐

Well done with the tricky drive Redcar. How wonderful that your dear Godmother is still in her own home at the age of 100! Hope she accepts more help soon so that she can stay there.

Sounds like an interesting day in town, brook. I love a 'nosey' round historic houses.

Thinking of the Soops, FGTs, SueD, Dragonfly, YiaYia and DHs, and all with illness, worries or sorrow.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Saturday evening and a good night's sleep. I'm just settling down on the sofa for some 📺, I've started re watching Homeland from the very beginning. I do like a spy drama. If I remember correctly, it has one of the most satisfying final episodes ever...

TOYA, NNGB.

GrandmaC47 Sat 20-Sept-25 21:06:01

Looking good Blossoming hope it’s not long till you get to Lytham again 😀

Redcar Sat 20-Sept-25 20:49:55

Looking good to me blossoming!

I’ve been to visit my 100 year old godmother today. She’d been unwell during the week and isn’t eating or drinking enough at the moment. She has been persuaded to have a carer in to help her wash and dress in the mornings but refuses to have any other help later in the day. But this is a start anyway and will hopefully ease her tiredness. I’m tired now, it’s a 25 mile drive each way down narrow bendy roads with load of farm traffic at the moment. I love harvest time, just not when I have to dive into a hedge to get away from a huge tractor and trailer loaded with potatoes!
Have a pleasant evening everyone, a cooler night tonight I think, and a colder day tomorrow.

Blossoming Sat 20-Sept-25 20:39:44

It’s lovely in the nursing home, I’m booked in as respite care. I had my hair done yesterday a couple of hours after arriving! I’m here for a couple of weeks while Mr.B sees to having the stairlift fitted, I can opt to stay for the full 4 weeks if needed. It’s very comfortable and not too far from home. Night night all for now ♥️

A little haggard and in desperate need of a good tinted moisturiser, but not bad for 72 and just out of hospital!,
