Good morning everyone!🥰
Thank you so very much for your kind birthday wishes, very much appreciated.
Redcar, I chose surf and turf in ginger and spring onion sauce, delicious!
Thinking of Cornergran 💐 and all with family worries, especially those caring for sick loved ones.
Hoping and praying that all is well with Blossoming.
Ladyleftfieldlover, I hope your appointment today is helpful.
UsedToBeBlonde, I'm glad you saw your GP, hope her advice helps.
Gg and brook, I love 😍 the crazy mash, that's what I'll call it from now on!
I'm trying to pick up on my routines so I was up and out early yesterday to take my friend to Mass and Coffee Morning, haven't managed that since before I had Covid last month. Best laid plans... poor soul became trapped in her outside lift, it wouldn't go down and the safety gate wouldn't open for me to get her wheelchair off the platform. I called the lift company who advised me to call 999, so I did. Fire engine and crew arrived promptly and freed her in no time! They were very cheery and professional. I had wrapped her in blankets from her house, they put a tinfoil wrapper over that, because it was frosty and cold. One fireman came into the house with us and did an assessment, checking that other accessible exit was available until the lift at the front door is repaired. Very reassuring.
So that was our excitement for the morning! We were too late for Mass but we made it to the Coffee morning, All's well that ends well.
Wishing everyone a peaceful Thursday, TOYA.

Soops Kitchen is now open again - Mods shut the last one.
(1001 Posts)Hello Kitcheners- hope you don't mind and apologies if a new kitchen has already been opened elsewhere but I couldn't find it if there has... I've done my best but it still needs a few throws and cushions to make it more homely, ready for the nights drawing in and chillier evenings. Some freshly baked scones, jam and cream on the side if you fancy a treat.
I hope you dont think it presumptious of me to start this kitchen as I don't post as regularly as some of you but do find Soops Kitchen a lovely place to drop into even if I've nothing to say.
Redcar, I was born in March 1947. Apparently the snow reached was very deep. Unlike you I hate snow, and I’ve felt the cold all my life 😂😂.
I do hope Blossoming is ok. Thinking of all with problems of ant type.
Better news utbb a real boost for you.
You sound snug brook send any snow pictures this winter! Please.
Redcar just noticed I am just 10 years older than you born in 1937..
1947 was a dreadful winter, we walked to school , they never closed then, walking on a level with the hedge tops down the country lanes in my county of Derbyshire, it was very rural.
It seemed to last forever, the bottles of milk supplied at school were frozen and were thawed out on the thick black pipes which ran around the classrooms which were the only heating
we had.
As we didn’t know anything else it was just normal to us.
It was the hardest winter I have ever known.
Your parents would have worked very hard to keep you warm and safe.
utbb so pleased that you have had some helpful advice from the GP today.
Thank you for your concern about my dementia friend and her DH, * brook*, cornergran and neine, my friend has been in bed for the last two years, she can’t move, but was warm under a fleecy blanket. Her DH had at least two jumpers on, possibly three! He had a new boiler installed two years ago and it’s never worked properly in my opinion!
Bitterly cold here today, I was quite miffed when DD1 said they’d had flurries of snow in the nearest town! I didn’t notice any here! I love snow no doubt because I was born in a blizzard in 1947!
I didn’t go to yoga today, although my back is improving slowly I didn’t want to push my luck and make it worse. I did walk round to the post office to post a letter, I’m gradually getting faster, but it was really windy, making it feel even colder.
Keep warm everyone and have a pleasant evening.
I have seen a GP otoday with my glowing nose.
She has advised me to leave the harsh cream off for a week to allow the skin to heal from the weeping crusty stage.
I can then use it for one more week being careful of the delicate skin under my eyes.
I feel happier and less stressed about it now.
It has been almost a month and it will be a few weeks before it is clear but at least it will be clear for which I am so grateful.
Very cold here but no snow.
Take care everyone and enjoy your evening in the best way you can.
brook2704 ha ha I have just seen that, I meant creamy mash 🤷♀️
Hi kitchen pals, it’s snowed today and is very cold, heating is on and I’m snuggled on the sofa with a blanket
I braved the gym this morning for a couple of feel good classes then home for a zoom volunteering session this afternoon. I’ve not done much since then apart from some online shopping. DH kindly went to Tesco for the food shopping and made dinner for us both
GG your dinner sounds lovely but I don’t know what crazy mash is! 🤣
I’m hoping Blossoming is ok too and everyone in the quiet corner, take care all x
DH has gone out, I have a beef casserole in the oven which I shall have with crazy mash, sprouts and cabbage.
Other than going to the gym and changing bedding, which is washed, dried and waiting to be ironed I haven’t done anything other than laze on the sofa, making lists.
Thinking of Blossoming and our dear soop 🌸
Hi all, we had wet snow for a short time this morning with sleet, rain and wind, eventually clearing to sunny intervals, boy is it cold.
So this sloth did little, a brisk walk around the block, oven and hob hood cleaned, dinner prepared, not much else.
I love snow - hope we have some more.
I’m rather concerned Blossoming has been absent, I do hope nothing is amiss.
Enjoy your evening x
Happy Belated Birthday Granmarie....it all sounded just perfect and you deserve it.
FGT.... I'm hoping all has gone well after yesterday's chemo, a softly softly approach with a lesser amount will hopefully mean no horrible reactions this time.
NannyT....ooh a new kitchen just in time for Christmas....I love our cottage but I do miss my big kitchen with it's island and wall ovens and American fridge...no bending down like now squeaking with pain each time.
Redcar.... That is sad that your friend's house was so cold. It's not so easy to keep warm as we get older and also presumably not moving around didn't help either.
Corner I rescued a Christmas cactus from the garden centre way back and to all intents and purposes it was in its way out. I put it in the utility room and forgot about it until last week when it bloomed and it's oh so pretty.
Llfl....my thoughts will be with you next Tuesday... Those in the know will know it's the day before day that's the worst....all I can say is Sudocrem and a soft cushion. !!!!!!!
Brooke...brave lady venturing out in snow and fur the gym too.... I've had to suspend my membership for now as I can't manage it with my hip feeling like it's going to dislocate when I stand up.
It's freezing here and I'm dipsy at the best of times and now I'm trussed up in so many layers I look like the Teletubbies version too. Grrrr
We are perilously close to a new kitchen! A red and white theme might be appropriate with a small Christmas tree in the corner, well away from the AGA.
Guess who is awake too early? 🤣
Hello kitchen people.
I had my colonoscopy telephone pre-op today. It was only half an hour rather than 45 minutes as I’ve had two colonoscopies already. I am booked in for next Wednesday afternoon.
This Thursday I’m seeing an optometrist about my slightly drooping right eye. It seems to have improved but my left eye is a bit swollen. I don’t know. Old age isn’t for wimps is it?
I hope the FGT2S had a good day.
Grannnarie - it looks like you had a wonderful birthday! 🎂
Sleep 💤 tight.
Your celebrations sound super nannyt and granmarie.
Agree brook. Just back from a weekend in a hotel I quickly decided I could live in one - as long as it had a decent chef 😂.
I hope your friends don’t get too cold redcar, some days the heating is better to be on.
Good for you deciding you’ll go to lunch on Sunday utbb, that’s the spirit. I’ve been known to mutter if folk aren’t happy with the way I dress or look they can look the other way! Really hope you feel more comfortable very soon.
Thinking of Mr and Mrs soop, the fgts and all finding life hard going.
It’s been a mixed day here. This mornings attempt to organise was more of a challenge than I envisaged. A good lunch and time to potter in the big garden centre and equanimity was resumed. A beautifully coloured indoor cyclamen come home with us. They thrive in our conservatory. There will be a poinsettia closer to Christmas, I’m not good at keeping the poor things going and like it to be still with us at Christmas. Buying one probably counts as plant abuse!
Time to try for sleep.
Night, night everyone.
So pleased you enjoyed your very special birthday today grannmarie 💐❤️🥂🎂🥰
If sounds like you also enjoyed a lovely treat with your DH nannytopsy 🥂
A very cold day here but I managed to keep warm at the gym this morning and then the volunteering centre this afternoon. I was a bit stressed out with the bus being cancelled to get me from one place to the other but after a very brisk walk I got there just in time. DH had the car and wasn’t near enough to help but it was ok in the end
So sad that your friends house was very cold redcar with the thermostat turned down - I hope they were both wrapped up warm enough and you got yourself warmed up later
Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, take care all x
A lovely birthday for you grannmarie, you have a very kind, thoughtful family. I hope the Chinese was tasty this evening.
Thinking of fgt, dragonfly and their DHs, and soop and anyone else who I’ve not mentioned but who needs special thoughts.
Haven’t seen blossoming for a few days, I hope she’s ok.
Very cold here, and I was cold when I visited my dementia friend this afternoon. Her DH had got the heating thermostat turned down and it wasn’t set to come on until 5 o’clock! It took me about an hour to warm up when I got home.
nannytopsy at times I think I’d like to live in a hotel!
Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone.
Hope today has gone as well as it can, FGT.
Your friends in this kindly kitchen continue to think of you & your dear husband. x
Also, warm thoughts for dragonfly & your dear husband. x
There are so many of us with poorly husbands, family & friends.
I'm sorry I've not mentioned others by name, I do think of you, along with our own dear soop . x
A gentle group hug &
for you all. xx
Best of Birthday wishes for you Grannmarie.

Happy Birthday Granmarie.
Happy birthday Grannmarie. I hope you enjoyed your spa day. I hope it went well at the Christie FGT.
Littlest DGS has just moved into his big boy bed 🥰 and his little sister won’t be far behind! They grow so quickly. The cot we have here is earmarked for another new family in a few months. I love to see things go to a new home.
We spent DH’s birthday voucher at a country house hotel in Norfolk last night. I could get used to it 🤣 We woke up to a heavy frost and a herd of red deer.
Hope everyone has a good evening
Hope you are having a happy Special Birthday Granmarie 🎂🥂 💝
Good evening, everyone!🥰
I'm hoping and praying that things went well for the FGTS this afternoon, that our Soops are cosy and comfy, and that all dear friends coping with illness have all the necessary support.
Thank you all so very much for your kind wishes on my big birthday. I'm quite touched, you are lovely, thoughtful people. I had birthday messages from family and friends from 7.15 in the morning! I went to morning Mass, remembered all our sick friends 🕯🙏, when I came home my sisters arrived with smoked salmon bagels and fizz! The spa afternoon was delightful, I was in the pool and the jacuzzi, then had my massage and facial, so relaxing, I think I was snoring 😴 at one point! Now I'm getting ready for dinner with my siblings this evening, Chinese, my favourite.
Everyone has helped to make this 'first' a happy occasion, and I am eternally grateful.
Wishing everyone a peaceful Tuesday evening and a good night's sleep.
TOYA
Wishing you a very happy birthday Grannmarie 🥂🍾🎂🎈🎉
