^I finished the japonica jelly. I didn’t get many jars. Jelly always feels like a lot of work for little results.^
Not that I’ve ever (or will) make it grandMattie but your comment reminded me of this.
🤣🤣🤣🤣. Absolutely!

🤣😅 ......the spinach!
I did manage a walk yesterday, and another one today, Marydoll. It’s good to read that your church is often full, as so many seem to struggle nowadays. Hope all goes well on Wednesday.
Good morning everyone. It’s a warm, dry day here in Lancashire. MrB has been to see me and we have had a short walk in the fresh air. My legs are a bit tired today so we didn’t go too far.
Wishing you all a Happy Monday 😎
Good morning fron the west midlands. A clear, cold day here. Beautiful but personally I'm dreading the cold days of winter!
I'm still downsizing & finding it hard to send books to the charity collection but I can't keep them all!
Good morning from a sunny NE.
A very quiet day yesterday spent catching up on TV programmes.
DS and GD posted photos of their day at Beamish, the weather was good. GD had five of her friends with her, a belated birthday outing.
Housework today then maybe some reading.
Have a good day.
Appointment with the hygienist cancelled so no other plans apart from the inevitable laundry and the gardener this afternoon when we will dismantle most of the summer pots and plan for spring. The geraniums/pelargoniums still look good and will probably survive until the first frost and have been a brilliant buy, flowering non-stop since mid May.
Sorry Marydoll has another week to wait and that she feels so awful; hope at least that the itching improves. Thoughts with the FGTs and all dealing with illness, sadness and worry.
Good Morning from a grey Co Armagh ,
Dentist checkup this morning, home for a quick tidy , then off to visit a cousin I haven’t seen for a while , she won’t know me , but her Daughter keeps in touch with my Daughter and there will be lots of chat
Best wishes for your appointments MD whenever they happen
Wishing you all the best at your appointment Marydoll.
Morning all from a chilly North Leicestershire.
I'm feeling better everyday, thank you GIvy, and eating more normally now. Wish the flipping diarrhoea would stop but it is, thankfully, slowly abating. Sorry if that is TMI.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.
Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 3°C,
Sorry folks, I have confused everyone including myself., however, my appointment is Monday 6th, I wish it was today, I am humbled by how kind you all are.
However, I do have a CT scan on Wednesday, I cannot fault the NHS for the prompt intervention.
It is probably just as well, that the appointment is next week, I have had an awful night, with little sleep.
I was itching from head to toe and was up looking for an antihistamine at 2am, it was driving me mad.
GM, I had to laugh about the seating at church, I too have my own seat 😉 and no-one is brave enough to sit in it, but there is a reason. I sit next to the sacristy, at the side altar, in case of an emergency or I am feeling unwell and need to leave,
There are regulars, who arrive there an hour before Sunday Mass, to secure their seat and outrage occurs if anyone has the audacity to sit in their row,
However, the sheer numbers attending mean the church is always full,
I benefitted from not attending church yesterday, doing very little, However my plans of chilling were thwarted by messages from parishioners, who had expected to see me at Mass, and had been saving up their problems,
I am ashamed to say, I was relieved there were no family visitors yesterday, it is becoming more and more difficult to cover up,
My former colleague wanted to come and visit, I don't feel up to socialising and I think I may have upset her.
GMB, enjoy your trip to Edinburgh, I am so happy that once more, you are spending time with your son,
I hope you are on the mend Kitty and best wishes for all the poorlies,
Blossoming, I hope you managed your walk yesterday,
GG, I hope you can get back into your kitchen soon!
My brain is a bit muddled this morming, so apologies if I have missed any birthdays etc, ♥️
Have a pleasant day folks.
Good morning all, it’s a bright start to the day here in South Lanarkshire.
Our weekend was busy. An overnight in Edinburgh with the children was quite full on. Yesterday morning we took them and our dog for a walk in the nearby Holyrood park. There’s a circular road which was closed to traffic but there was a cycling event on. I chatted to a chap wearing a sweatshirt bearing the name of a walking group from my town, turned out he’s a near neighbour whose son was taking part in the event.
Later on we seemed to spend an inordinate amount of time sitting on motorways due to roadworks on the way home followed by the same scenario a couple of hours later as we drove to Glasgow’s West End to have dinner with my visiting Canadian cousin.
Today we are picking up the only available child of DD’s and taking her for lunch at an Italian restaurant near their home. It’s a holiday weekend in this area.
An early night tonight for me!
Good wishes to all.
Good morning from a fair Wiltshire.
Thank you very much for all your birthday wishes yesterday. Our lunch booking for 1pm ended up lasting nearly 5 hours. We had a quiet corner of the friendly pub which DD1 decorated with small vases of flowers and table confetti. The Sunday roasts and drinks were very good which DH paid for. I was overwhelmed by the genorosity of my family who gave me gifts and a little booklet to choose a night away with a show of our choosing. It was warm enough to sit in the pub garden for a while drinking pots of tea later. GD1 made a video call from Uni. The 2 middle GCs had their phones confiscated by their dad and the youngest 2 were on their best behaviour for a change.
I am sending my very best wishes today to Marydoll. Thinking of the FGTs also.
Hope everyone has the best day they can.
Morning from a sunny S Hants.
karmalady I just showed the shop where I took my Amazon parcel the QR code on my mobile, they scanned it and do the rest, painless.
Those of you with colds, may well have Covid, it’s still about.
A wet morning yesterday and a dark day until late afternoon when we had a win on the meat draw. I chose a smoked gammon, nearly 2k, it’s in the freezer for the festives.
Voluntary phone today, library, then quiz.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where I am waiting for the decorator. Yes, folks - he’s finally coming!!
Yesterday the sun came out and I drove over to the woods where we walk on a Thursday to have a really good ramble round with my camera. With 350 acres to go at I was spoilt for choice and was out for almost three hours. The trees are just starting to turn, the ground littered with acorns and sweet chestnuts, plenty of water in the brooks. It’s one of my special places.
Today I will be keeping out of the decorator’s way, ironing, gardening, sorting out paperwork - and making tea I suppose!
Have the best day you can, folks.
Hoping Madeleine is feeling better this morning 💐
Also all the best to Marydoll I seemed to think your appointment is next Monday but maybe I got it wrong so wishing you all the very best.
Also wondering how Kitty is doing following her op.
Sending a hug to all those who need one sorry if I have not mentioned you personally and missed someone out and happy hols to those away or planning to go
Also happy 70th to Glammagran for yesterday.
FGT ❤️
Good morning Mick and all GN's from a still dark morning in North Yorkshire. I hope that it clears to some sunshine today as I missed it all yesterday!
It has been a horrible couple of days, with high temperature, and coughs and sneezing etc not helping my back at all. I had hoped to get up and do a bit in the afternoon but just so rotten had to stay in bed. Felt so rough that I couldnt even read or concentrate on anything, and so only got up to make myself a drink and go to the loo and just had radio 3 for company, for which I was grateful. Anyway here I am today and hoping for things to improve somewhat. Have had some cereal, and now just waiting for the Bach before 7 to cheer the day, and will feel a little more in charge of whats happening. So , of course, my back is complaining madly as spending the day in bed is exactly NOT what to do to help that. Im sure I could hear it creaking as I struggled out of bed! Any tortoise would have won the race to the kitchen .
Well my most important goal for today is by hook or by crook I am going to get some vunerable plants put into the border from pots. I may be ringing for the fire brigade to get me up after I have got them planted but the forecast is for possible frost and definitely colder later .. As a yorkshire woman I dont pay for plants and not get them growing. We shall see how I manage after some painkillers and a shower but am determined to sort them. At the very worst will have to ring a friend to come to my rescue. Fortunately I always have enough food and a bit in the freezer and have plenty of milk etc, so it wouldnt matter if I dont feel up to going out today, but felt so annoyed that I wasnt able to sort the plants out. I certainly knew how bad I felt when I wasnt able to manage it.
Of course there are now loads of things that I need to catch up on, will be able to sit here and do some emails etc, and have a stool in the kitchen so that I am able to sit and do the washing up but no chance of hoovering around or sweeping and if anything falls on the floor it will have to stay there. My grabber is getting old and losing its grip and I must get round to buying a new one.
I had meant to get in touch with my son and planned to go over their way, but this episode put a stop to that, and so will wait and see how I am today, and then think I might suggest that we have a meet up somewhere if they are free on saturday. But have to keep fingers crossed first that I am ok now and dont have to go back to bed, so need to go steadily at things and not try to do everything at once. I have already mentally cancelled swimming on wednesday. Did enjoy watching Antiques road show from Bradford , with a lot of interesting things on it, but also reminded me that I had planned to go to see the art gallery where they have a great exhibition of David Hockney and some from his youngest days. Have always been a fan of his work and loved the wolds pictures and saw quite a lot of them when they came to York art gallery. The east riding works were all places that I knew from my childhood and still love driving across the wolds to this day. In my youth I used to cycle a lot round there , but even in the car it is lovely and often very quiet. If I go across towards Bridlington from here I much prefer to travel via all these lovely little roads and villages than on the A64 from York. There is such an openness and sense of freedom out there. When I was young and on the bike with my sandwich and a drink in a bag it felt so free to me. Not responsible for anything, on my own without my sister in tow. I loved struggling up to the top of a hill and then swooping down and sometimes just screaming for the hell 0f it. You could shout as loud as you wanted and no one to here you. Whenever I was feeling very down or stressed it was a great way to let go. These days dont do a lot of screaming, but do enjoy having the windows open and singing at the top of my voice. No one to see or hear me or decide that I have definitely lost the plot!! But will put that on hold for a more sedate catching up with what I can manage today. Even the sun has come out now and so hope that it is going to stay for the day.
Saw a bit of the cycling yesterday Mick and thought of you probably watching it. Hope you have a good journey today. GrandMattie you are still busy with your jams and marmalades I see. I remember several church goings on with pews and also other things. In particular decorating the church for things like harvest festival. At one church a newcomer, who was actually very good at flower arrangements but not so good at being aware of social niceties, made a rather lovely decoration for harvest festival, but had taken over the WI window! However a staunch WI lady who looked and sounded rather like Peggy Mount (if you remember her) walked across and lifted it firmly from that window ledge and took it across to another one just saying"A lovely effort dear, but that is the WI window". In another village there was some consternation when a recently retired baker came in with a beautiful sheaf bread load saying that he always made one for the festival, but the local baker always did it, and so there was a hasty reorganising of a table near the entrance so that his sheaf could be welcomed and enjoyed without causing a major rift. My great granny always used to say, if you are new somewhere take a seat in the middle and look and see how things go before you find your place. Good advice, as often no one would actually come across and tell you what you were doing wrong , but would be seething underneath. Not a very christian attitude but we do tend to be creatures of habit dont we? Karmalady , hope your planting goes well and you are successful with your visit to the post office. Safe journey to many of you all returning from holidays, and hope you have no delays. Mary doll thinking of you and hoping all goes well at your appointment.
Good wishes to all GN's for a pleasant and successful day today
Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside sandhills northwest coast. I practised the soprano line yesterday for upcoming concerts and it’s improving.
I’m off to send my hand painted large card to DS for his 50th. He’s in London with his band for the actual birthday, but we have other dates to celebrate with my DD and DGD.
After a grocery delivery this afternoon, the plumber is ‘supposed’ to turn up for my bathroom slow leak🙄.
Flying DD in the south arrives tonight after being in India. She will drive up after landing and I’m cooking a chicken for a lateish meal. Don’t know how she manages it…
Thoughts to all🌺
You deserve the break GG . Enjoy your time away and forget the mess youve left behind. It will all be worth it in the end.☀️
Good morning all and yes it’s quite foggy here in Essex, as GG and Redcar have already told you.
Yesterday was a quiet day and I managed to finish a book I started a while ago. Watched a couple of episodes ofHouse of Guinness. So good! Dipped in and out of the Ryder Cup. Thank goodness’we’ won. Such disgraceful behaviour from the American fans. Really spoilt it.
Today I have Chimes. I haven’t been for the last two sessions so I’m really looking forward to it. Making music, hysterical laughter, cake and coffee. What could be better. 🔔.
I’ve ordered a lightweight wheelchair for Dh , just for occassions when the walk is too far. I’ll be able to take him further afield. He doesn’t know and will fight me all the way. 😬.
Hope all travellers have a good, troublefree journey.🤞
Wishing better health for all suffering.🙏
Good luck with all appointments.
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a bright sunny start to the day
Thinking of Marydoll and others with medical appointments today
Yesterday was a gorgeous sunny day so we went out for a walk and just did a little bit of gardening when we got home. Today I’ll try to get on with some housework, get some food shopping in and get the washing done
Safe travels to everyone travelling today and enjoy your trip to Spain GG
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning from a slightly misty Suffolk where the sun is beginning to appear so hopefully will be a good drying day.
Our little dog is 10 today and DH started the habit of arranging for boxes of chocolate brownies to be sent to the DGC. They look forward to her birthday.
I didn’t get round to any bulb planting yesterday so that is a job for today before a busy and social week ahead.
Thinking of those who are unwell or caring for others and hope MD’s hospital appointment goes as well as possible.
Good morning from a foggy W Kent. The cleaner will arrive later if she can see the way! Otherwise a quiet day with just a picture that has been framed to pick up.
I wonder what it is that makes people want to sit in the same seat every time, it happens in all the groups I go to
Lovely day with DS and family yesterday, I was a bit worried afterwards that I had talked to much
Thinking of Marydoll, best wishes to all
