I can feel the darkness descending so my hope would be to stay well, enjoy a few things, improve my surroundings a bit.

Oh and be 2 lb lighter by November 1st.

I share your hopes Aldom! Re the house move, our last attempt in May resulted in our buyer pulling out on the day we went to exchange contracts, so we definitely don't want a repeat of that stressful experience!

To have a full night's sleep and wake up pain-free. To be able to walk a bit further and maybe even be able to go dancing. Ballroom, country. Pa's a Doble or tango. Won't hold my breath. But just a decent night's sleep would be enough.

Good link Stripeygran, thankyousmile
I'd be inclined to cut them all out, pop 'em in a bag and 'tombola' one each morning with my cuppa!

Very creative and nice use of tombola as a verb!

My hope is that my husbands eye operation is successful.

Oh and be 2 lb lighter by November 1st.

1. I'd like to be 2 stone lighter - but not by 1st November!

2. I'd like this 🤬 sciatica to go, then I might be able to be more active and achieve No. 1.

3. Just for all the family to stay well or get well and be happy.

Hoping for decent Autumn weather, to keep to my diet and lose a bit more weight, to have a good outcome after my upcoming hospital visit, that my old dog remains well and that somehow the world becomes a more positive place.

I hope my son gets a new job soon

GrammarGrandma Wed 01-Oct-25 17:57:07

That I recover from breaking a vertebra and having a vertebroplasty and that I don't break any more bones!

StripeyGran Wed 01-Oct-25 18:05:22

Trust me Allira the 2 lb is what you may call a realistic target. Think more tortoise than hare.

Aldom Wed 01-Oct-25 18:23:09

Yorkshire pudding You have my utmost sympathy. I hope to exchange contracts in the next few days. I don't think I could go through the process again should my buyers pull out at the last minute. Wishing you all the best with your sale.

My hope is for my SEN relative to be out of hospital by the end of this month. The first 8 weeks they were minimally conscious, and the last 10 weeks in neuro-rehab. PEG fed with a suprapubic catheter fitted.
Fractured skull and 3 brain bleeds following a catastrophic fall in the night.
Daily 5-8 hour return trips to hospital with their very elderly parents are taking their toll.

To strengthen my leg muscles and improve my walking and
lose the half stone I need to lower my bmi enough to get out of the overweight category.

So sad how now brown cow. We lost a little girl a few years ago at the nursery I work at it was devastating.

I wish my OH would agree to move. I want to live before I die but feel in prison here. in solitary confinement. I need a telescope to see another house I want to choose where I live , not have anyone choose for me.

ViceVersa Wed 01-Oct-25 20:25:49

I would love to stop overthinking and fretting about everything too, but I'm going to be positive and keep everything crossed for a UK tour announcement by my favourite band. I've finally decided life is too short and I've missed too many gigs through having no-one to go with, so I've booked tickets for three concerts and I'm going solo!

Ah, October. Shortening days and cooler weather. Easy excuses to start indoor hobbies.

I started a swim program two weeks ago, so hope to see progression this month. Also ordered some yarn for a new pullover so hope that arrives. We have a postal strike, and I'm not sure which means of delivery the yarn shop uses.

And of course I hope improved health for my son who is out of the cardiac ward with myocarditis and now in recovery. Also for my husband who has multiple health issues; I hope he sees some improvement.

I share exactly this as the constant pain is debilitating and I so love dancing all dancing. I hope your wish comes through Madeleine45 it is not very likely mine will but still we can live in hope of a miracle.

Thank you, we really should appreciate our blessings. There is always someone going through a more difficult time.

seasider Thu 02-Oct-25 08:18:02

Mine hope is quite simple. I would like to empty my spare room . Myself and my youngest son had to leave our home quickly in 2001 when my ex turned nasty . I still have packed boxes so I obviously don’t need the stuff but I work a lot of hours and struggle to find the time/inclination to empty them .

Sadgrandma Thu 02-Oct-25 08:29:16

My wish is that the dreadful wars in Gaza and Ukraine end and that their people can start to rebuild their lives,
On a personal note I hope that my operation finally goes ahead in November and that it will resolve some of my health issues.

Agree but when you feel down this can just be another stick to beat yourself with. I think we are allowed to have our feelings.

Aldom Thu 02-Oct-25 10:05:06

Hownow many of us on this and other GN threads have been in the position of being 'Someone who is going through more difficult times'.

Aldom Thu 02-Oct-25 10:09:05

Sorry, phone rang.

To the extent that sometimes trivial things are unbearablely stressful.
