Good morning from Malta where the sky is blue, there’s a cool breeze and a high of 27°C forecast along with the chance of showers.

I woke early as usual, I am finding it quite difficult not having to go to take care of the boys so I still get up and do half an hour of online aerobics.

Happy birthday to Iris, how quickly they grow up.

Grandmabatty what a busy day you had yesterday, no wonder you needed a lie down especially after the day you had on Tuesday.

Don’t the boys come out with some gems!😂

I’m another who thinks your vicar was irresponsible for possibly inflicting his covid on others grandMattie

So sorry you didn’t get your anniversary lunch Marydoll. After the morning you had you really deserved something nice to make up for it.💐

The washing machine has just played its merry little tune to tell me it’s ready so I shall go and see if it’s worth hanging it out or if the predicted showers are looming.

Wishing you all a good day.☀️

Good morning everyone from a cloudy and downcast south coast. I’m keeping my eye on the forecast for tomorrow’s storm as I’m lunching ‘across the water’ which will involve walk, bus, ferry, walk which strangely enough is less hassle than taking the car. Getting soaked will be avoided if I drive but I’ve yet to make the decision.
Housework to do this morning.
Hope everyone has the best possible day.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

OH and I are having our flu jabs this morning. Afterwards I will drop off a dress at the seamstress so she can turn up the hem. It’s a beautiful dress from Seasalt which I bought recently, but it’s a little too long.

A quick trip to Waitrose and once back home I’ll make final preparations for my sister and brother in law’s arrival tomorrow. I saw them both in Australia in March and my sister was here for my 70th in 2023. I can’t remember when bro in law was last in UK.

Have a good day especially those of you with difficulties.

Good morning all and it’s overcast here in Essex.

Yesterday I took a friend for coffee at my old neighbours house. We had a wander around her huge garden and large Victorian house. It’s really too much for her on her own now but she’ll never move.
It was a nice morning, chatting over coffee.

Today Dh has a blood test and then I will shop.
DDil is having an op today, so ds1 has a few days off work.
Such a devoted dad and husband.

I hope you all have a good day 🙏

Good morning everyone, finally plucked up the courage to post for the first time from a dry & cloudy start in Scotland. Hope im not gate crashing into here. I've noticed some sound advice on here and thought I'd sign up. smile

Good morning from a slowly brightening NE.
Only my BIL came yesterday as my sister was not well, he took me for my vaccinations and then shopping.
My cousin's funeral is to take place at the end of this month, four weeks seems a long time.
Quiet day today because my arm is sore where I had the vaccination.
Have a good day.

Aldom I hope everything goes well with exchanging contracts and you are soon settled in your new home🤞🏻

Crossstitchfan Thu 02-Oct-25 08:53:22

Hello Scottishthistle and welcome to the madhouse! Just thought I’d say that you aren’t gatecrashing at all! Like you, I was new once and found the first posts or so scary, but posters are generally kind (there are always one or two who can be a bit ‘difficult’, but you get those anywhere).
The best thing for me is that, if you have a worry, there is usually someone on here who has experienced the same, or similar, and is happy to advise.
Hope you enjoy it!

GrannyGravy13 Thu 02-Oct-25 08:57:58

Welcome Scottishthistle 🙋‍♀️

Jaxjacky Thu 02-Oct-25 09:08:41

Morning from a cloudy sis Hants and welcome Scottishthistle we were all new once!
Much better news Susan56 👍
Happy Birthday Iris 🦩
A very pleasant lunch with a friend yesterday, we called info the farm shop/nursery on the way home, I resisted the beautiful cyclamen. I must buy some bulbs today at another place with a better selection, I’ll try to avoid the tea and cake brigade as it gets very busy in the car park.
A walk will feature as tomorrow looks dire.

Good morning from cloudy s somerset

Up late today, I was determined that I needed to get back to good sleeping, back to the old routine of doing a few things for an hour before bed, no watching screens. I prepped the space in the boiler cupboard to see a tiny drip

Found out it was the pressure release valve doing its job and helped by me, taking out about a cup of water via bleeding a radiator. Pressure was normalised and there are no more drips or oozes. Boiler service or safety check today, I have a few questions ie is a service only necessary if the numbers are not right. I will be asking him how the heat exchanger is performing ie is it clean. They are local and trusted, I just need to know more

I only managed 6 rows of gansey pattern last night, I need to get my skates on and do more, I want this for DS for Christmas

Allotment visit yesterday was lovely, I cycled there wearing 4 layers and cycled back wearing two thin layers, the sun showed itself, I was warm

The whole plot is weeded, the quick way, with a hori hori or hoe apart from the bindweed which creeps in from next door, I dug all that out. The allium bed is ready and I have ample veg which will stand through winter

GM I am shocked at your vicars thoughtless behaviour, with covid, attending in a crowded room, many people there will get covid from him. How awful, all those elderly or unwell people, all at high risk. His covid bugs will have filled the room, just by breathing. Not a good character trait at all, could not care less about other people

Have a good day

Thankyou so much @crossstitchfan @ GrannyGravy13

Welcome Scottishthistle

Scottishthistle Thu 02-Oct-25 09:21:23

Thanks @jaxjacky 😊 enjoy your walk. Hope you beat the weather.

Grandmabatty Thu 02-Oct-25 09:24:02

Welcome to Scottishthistle. Mick's thread is very welcoming and there are many kind folk post on it.
I'm back from depositing the boys at school/nursery .I was taken to task by dgs1 for not parking right outside the gates(yellow lines) as he finds it "frustrating". When asked why, he said that his legs are too tired in the morning to walk far- and then he promptly began a game of football 😂

glammagran Thu 02-Oct-25 09:24:44

Good morning from overcast Wiltshire.

Parcels to collect today and a top up shop from M&S. First a phone call with a hip consultant,

When GD3 was in Reception she had a meltdown because she accidentally flushed a fly down the toilet whilst at school. She can’t bear the thought of any living thing dying. Well, this week she and GS2 who is currently in Reception have caught nits along with most of their classmates. D2 has applied lotion from the chemist. Cue another meltdown as “baby nits were going to die” - that aspect of her hasn’t changed. 😂

Grandmabatty so sorry to read about your current worries. I hope you feel much better today. Why on earth isn’t sedation given for painful procedures?

Sorry your anniversary went somewhat awry MD. I’m left speechless your vicar would turn up to an event with many elderly people whilst having Covid.

I would rethink your plans for tomorrow Merlotgran I’ve read Storm Amy will be bad in Scotland with ferries cancelled.

Have a good day all

Scottishthistle Thu 02-Oct-25 09:25:39

Thanks @luluaugust smile

Scottishthistle Thu 02-Oct-25 09:39:21

Thanks @Grandmabatty smile
Had a laugh at your post. Love it when the wee ones say the first thing that pops into their minds. (Sometimes) 😉 will read Mick's thread. Thanks grandmabatty.

BlueSapphire Thu 02-Oct-25 09:43:42

Good morning everyone from a cloudy grey Northampton.

Plans have all changed today! Was expecting to be spending today emptying bedroom furniture in readiness for new carpet arriving tomorrow, but just heard from them to say it will now be Monday. However, I think I may make a.start on the job, only not with the urgency I originally planned.

Had a lovely day yesterday meeting RosiesMaw in Milton Keynes, shopping and a nice Italian lunch and wine. I was tempted and gave in to a pretty long-sleeved winter dress in FatFace; little bright orange flowers on a dark blue background, and the perfect length.

Sainsbury's delivery in about an hour, so I need to get myself ready for that.

I keep finding myself locked out of GN and having to enter email and password details every time, even though I keep ticking the "keep me signed in" box. It is getting to be a nuisance.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

hollysteers Thu 02-Oct-25 09:45:29

Good morning from a brightening northwest coast. Opera co. AGM last night followed by a short rehearsal. I’ve decided to now sing second soprano aa my voice has dropped (as well as everything else…) but means I must work hard to learn the second line as the concerts are not far off. My best friend didn’t make it as her car was being serviced.
The cat left me a present of a tidy baby bat in the porch this morning.

DS 50th birthday today, hard to believe, apart from the difficult breech birth. He’s in London for gigs so a get together will be held when he returns.
DD leaves for the south today and has been v helpful with choosing a carpet for the newly decorated spare bedroom etc. The carpet fitter is coming this morning to measure up.

Iris🎂 Hello Scottishthistle and thank you for the tip for A Horseman Riding By karma, it looks good.
Thoughts to all🌺

hollysteers Thu 02-Oct-25 09:46:20

Tiny baby bat🦇 😢

Grammaretto Thu 02-Oct-25 10:02:51

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It's sunny but I overslept. The alarm had been un-set.

Since I was awake for so long in the night I finished watching 2 Netflix films.

I tried to sort out financial stuff yesterday by way of the lawyer and the bank - both in Edinburgh. Both helped but there is still more to do. This dates 5 years since DH died.

Then I returned some clothes I had bought online but couldn't spend any more money as I'd left my purse at home!

I need to pack as I'm going away for the weekend. Nowhere exotic just a church conference near London.

Welcome to Scottishthistle.
I wonder if you're anywhere near me.

No wonder you are tired Grandmabatty. Try to rest a little today.
Thinking of Marydoll 🙏

Happy birthday to Iris. GM

Now to begin my day.

Scottishthistle Thu 02-Oct-25 10:03:22

Thankyou hollysteers,
Aww a wee baby bat.. Try not to let it play on your mind though, could always light a candle ✨️
