Good Morning Thursday 2nd October 2025
(59 Posts)Good morning early birds from a cool north Wales coast where my wake up time is getting back to normal in half hour increments…🥱 who’d have thought a 2hr time difference mattered🤔
Loved that picture of Cordoba GG! Did so many trips there for ferias and festivals - it was probably my favourite city to trot around as everything was within walking distance ❣️
A visit to my dad’s this morning to listen to his woes (none of which will stop him swanning off to Goa next month 🤦♀️) then the reward of a coffee and natter at a friend’s!
Hope for good news from all on the medical fronts…💐
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14° and raining. Pantglas enjoy your coffee and natter.
Yesterday I picked up the boys, fed them and dropped them off at school. I stayed and did half an hour's work in the school library, then came home and lay down for a while. Later I picked up the boys again and took dgs1 to his football training and deposited dgs2 at his house. Back home, I tidied up the kitchen which had been left for a couple of days, removed the matchbox cars from my living room and had steak and sausage casserole out of the freezer. Then, thoroughly exhausted, I went to bed. The procedures on Tuesday had taken more out of me than I realised.
Today will be a rerun of yesterday mostly. No football training but I'm keeping the boys til half five. It's their parents evening at school/nursery so dd will get them afterwards. Dgs1 bought a book at the school book fair yesterday. He told his mum he had bought a football diarrhea! 😂
Of course he meant diary.
Have a good day all
Good morning from a dry, clear Bristol. It’s milder, in anticipation of the first of this season’s storms; Ada, I believe, will visit us tomorrow.
Yesterday went well, but I was wiped out, having been awake from 0230. The vicar told me (from a distance)t hat he has COVID so didn’t feel he could join in anything although he was there for the whole party.
The church was set out with chairs around little tables. Guests started to arrive at least 30 minutes before we even opened, some being annoyed that we weren’t ready! The AgeUK volunteers arrive; there were about 8 of them. Cake was cut and put on each table, the guests were very spoiled for their free entertainment, £2 donation cup of good coffee.
The singer was excellent,,once a couple started to dance, others joined in and were bopping according to their ability. The younger volunteers couldn’t believe their eyes. 😂
I don’t like crowds nor volume, so kept well out, washed up, made more coffee, etc. Sme 90 people attended.
At my close, the residents were enjoying the first coffee morning (organised by me) since February. The area manager popped in with an interviewee and introduced her. Apparently, she impressed the ones who spoke to her.
Meanwhile, I have also found out the the retired manager, who lives onsite and was supposed to have moved out on Tuesday after three months’ notice, was still there and wouldn’t be leaving for another 2-3 weeks. Ye gods! Apparently, the place is a tip and needs to be completely refurbished before a new manager takes it up. This means that it will be well after the new year before we have anyone looking after us. 🤬
I did nothing in the afternoon, although I was supposed to go to an afternoon tea. I was just too tired.
I have decided to take today off. It’s Iris’ 13th birthday today, and I have been invited to join them for dinner.
May all appointments bring good news, the travellers be safe and everyone hav3 a good day.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
Happy birthday to Iris. GrandMattie, I think your vicar was a bit irresponsible attending when he has covid! Even at a distance.
Good morning from south Glos, I don’t know what it’s like outside besides being dark 😊
I spent nearly all day yesterday sorting out my so-called craft room, aka the smallest bedroom, i was exhausted by mid afternoon! I emptied and tidied the built in cupboard and filled a black bag of rubbish plus another for the charity shop. I gave a friend some art material for her granddaughter too.
I need to tackle the table top today….
I don’t seem to have much oomph at the moment, so a quiet day today besides dog walks.
Best wishes to everyone 🌹
Good Morning fr MS - 29c & sunny.
GG: I also enjoyed seeing that Roman bridge in Cordoba photo! The bird in my photo yesterday, is a Laughing Gull - a quite young one, wearing his 1st Winter plumage.
(1 of his v large family joins us @morning ☕️ & we've named him Logan, lol)
I hope today is a good day for everybody!
Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 15°C, With rain forecast,
Birthday wishes for Iris,
Yesterday, everything went smoothly with my MRI. As usual, parking at the hospital was horrendous, with people going the wrong way round the one way system and others abandoning their cars,
To my surprise, I was informed that a chest xray had been requested and to save coming back, the radiographer escorted me to the X-ray dept., still wearing my gown., where I was seen immediately. I am finding the speed of this rather unnerving, considering that I have been waiting a year for a referral to respiratory dept. However, I am extrehely grateful.
Of course, as usual, I met someone I knew, who told ne how well I looked, in my gown,😂,
Our anniversary lunch did not materialise, we could not get parked, DH was becoming very stressed, he cannot cope with parking in town, To my disappointment, went home, sans lunch. I was so looking forward to it,
This has been a rubbish wedding anniversary!
Today, we have Babydoll, so I must get up and make her pancakes,
She does not cope well with deviations from her routine! Coral will not cut it.
I have noticed that Kalu has not been posting.
I wish you all, a pleasant day and best wishes for those, who are struggling.
GM, how irresponsible of your vicar, to attend with so many vulnerable people there. 😡
Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s grey and mild here at the moment, and still dark!
I went to seated yoga yesterday morning which was quite challenging at times. I suffered with my back later in the day. In the afternoon I visited my godmother who is in hospital and quite poorly. She’s in the elderly care ward, which probably says it all! Not the most cheering of environments.
I have to wait in for a delivery today so will do some ironing and housework.
grandmattie; Happy Birthday to Iris today, I hope she has a good day. How irresponsible of the vicar to attend the coffee morning with Covid, no wonder it’s spreading again.
grandmabatty I hope you’re feeling less bruised this morning.
Thinking of all those with problems of any kind and hoping that life becomes a little easier for you soon.
Have the best day possible everyone, and batten down the hatches before Storm Amy reaches us.
Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is still dark but forecast to be the last decent day before it all goes down hill this week. I had two jabs yesterday - one in each arm, and they were very sore last night so I didn’t sleep very well.
The decorators finished the living room yesterday and are moving on to my bedroom today. I’m very pleased with the darker colour on the fireplace wall which will set off my watercolours perfectly. DS is coming down on Saturday so I’ll let him put them back up for me, and put the rug back down.
Writer’s group at the library was great fun although we were fewer in number than usual. GS phoned as I was walking back to the car to ask if I had time for a chat. It seems that he’s beginning to settle into student life, and is being inventive in the kitchen though he did manage to, as he put it, “chop a lump out of my finger” cutting up an onion. I suggested ready prepared onions might be safer!
Walking group today, then lunch with DD and a haircut this afternoon.
Have the best day you can, folks.
Good morning from dark and drizzly Shropshire.
I enjoyed yesterday. The day felt like my old normal before I was ill.Shopping wasn’t a great success but I then drove to Staffordshire my first longish drive in months. We went to collect DGS who had forgotten we were coming and had gone to after school club. The teacher went to get him and when he saw us he ran the length of the playground with a huge smile on his face straight into my arms then into DH’s.The teachers said they all felt quite emotional as did we🥲DD and SIL took us out for a lovely meal.As DH got up from the table he caught his head on a mirror, an oval mirror with a border of mini antler horns.Blood everywhere🤦🏼♀️the staff were really good and took the mirror down immediately. One said it’s beautiful but I knew it was a hazard.Back to DD’s for birthday cake then home.
Today drs first thing then home to do household chores then collect the children later and bring little dog back for the weekend.
Take it easy Grandmabatty.Hospital visits can be exhausting especially with all the tests you had done.I hope the vicar hasn’t shared his covid grandMattie😤
Wishin everyone a good day🦩🌻
Good morning from a misty W Kent. Enjoyable morning out with DH yesterday we purchased a couple of second hand books and I got a very cheerful jumper. Both very tired so a quiet afternoon. Today I have art group. I don’t usually do figures but I have drawn up some children on the beach so I will see how that goes.
Happy birthday Iris it is my SIL’s birthday today
Best wishes
Good morning everyone. Greyduster I had COVID and flu jabs yesterday, both in left arm. Once home I put Arnica cream over the area. Later on as the arm began to ache I reapplied Arnica and again at bedtime. I slept well and no ache or soreness this morning.
I'm moving house and hoping to exchange contracts by the end of this week.
Thinking of all those with difficuties to face.
Good morning Mick and all GN's on a dark and as far as I can see, still morning in North Yorkshire. I am still with out laptop, Internet connection, and trying to keep going the best I can. Very frustrating, to say the least. However I can at least read your posts. So the washer is trundling along with the bedding, and I am hobbling about, with difficulty, have cheered the morning with Bach , but darent risk the shower yet. I must get my act together as today I am going to the monthly meeting which is usually very interesting, but more importantly., an opportunity to meet and talk to a councillor. So, despite the hassle here, I absolutely must show my face and continue the campaign for the road and pavement improvement. It is my continued polite but resolute attitude which they have learnt to expect from me, that reminds them that I don't go away until they at least look at the problem properly.
So that is the morning gone. Pm, trying to get sorted, re Internet, radio etc , and glad Jessie coming pm , as wretched curtains are stuck and can't sort them, no chance of my hoovering, or bending down and my grabber seems to have packed up, to add to my woes. I am going to have a look round outside to see anything that needs to be brought in, or secured before the expected storm.
Will be reading all your posts and wishing everyone a pleasant day and success in whatever you aim for, whether jobs, contacts , or a day for yourself for a change.
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s still dark with grey clouds
A very Happy Birthday to Iris gMattiie, hope she has a lovely day and enjoy your family dinner this evening
I’ve a volunteer session this morning then going out for lunch somewhere with DH. We’ll do a bit of food shopping on the way home.
It’s a shame you missed out on your Anniversary lunch marydoll hopefully you can rearrange it
Sounds like a lovely day yesterday Susan56 so pleased for you but sorry about your DHs head!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings
Good morning from Torbay where we have a dramatically pink sky.
What busy days many of you had yesterday! I hope your results come through promptly, Grandmabatty and Marydoll. The waiting is the worst part.
We giggled about the football diarrhoea, Grandmabatty. It reminds me of an absence note quoted at one of my first teaching posts:-
“Sorry that Freddy was absent. He had diarrhoea through the holes in his shoes!”
Happy birthday to Iris, grandMattie! Another teenager. My DGD will reach that milestone at the end of the month. As mentioned on the alternative thread on Tuesday, her brother, now 15.5, seems to have come through a difficult adolescent phase and has emerged into the lovely young man we knew was there. His school sports tour of SA in July seems to have been a turning point. A relief to us all!
Last night at choir practice, I felt as if I was starting to get to grips with Bach's B Minor Mass. Our conductor is excellent and there are good singers sitting near me in the alto section which helps.
I’m due for a cut and colour at the hair salon today, which is within walking distance of my flat which is good.
Wishing everyone a good day!🦩💐🦩🥰🦩
Good morning from the sun 🌞
I hope Iris has a good birthday grandMattie I would have been rather cross with that Vicar and probably told him my opinion
Marydoll I hope your scan went as well as can be expected yesterday 🤞🏻🌸
I know a few of you know my location I have been coming here for 50 years and it was my family home for part of that time, my sister went from yr 3 all the way to the end of her school career here, hence her Spanish is perfect, no English accent or Spanglish , mine is deteriorating 😹😹😹
Today my friends and I are going on a boat trip (it’s actually a ferry from the Marina to F) they couldn’t believe it when I said I had never done it before ⛴️.
Enjoy your day dear morning friends 🙋♀️
Good morning everyone,
A dry and mild start to the day here in East Devon.
As I work two mornings a week and grandma duties one day a week, that can be very tiring but so enjoyable, I make sure I have a day, normally Thursday, where I make no plans. Just a day to rejuvenate and relax. Shorter version, being lazy.
Take care.
Good morning from 10 degree Cambridgeshire but looking like it will be a warm 19 degrees by lunch time.
I did my walk with DD2 yesterday and tried to talk some sense to her regarding an ongoing problem! Then back to gardening duties. I planted 30 crocus bulbs and two Christmas roses and continued tidying around. I then had a good catch up with DD1 on the phone.
Today is Pilates class. My neighbour has started coming with me not sure if that is going to work well or not she is quite hard work really and means I have to drive her home limiting some of the things I used to do after class eg stopping at the garden centre and popping into John Lewis in Cambridge! Will see how it works out going forward. Apart from Ocado delivery not much else happening but the ironing pile is growing ….
Have a good day everyone. Thinking of those awaiting results of tests never easy feels a bit like living in limbo land.
Good Morning from Durham. It’s overcast and gloomy here. After the funeral yesterday, DD2 and I called for a snack on the way home, then I spent a couple of hours on admin at home.
I’m meeting a friend for coffee/lunch today. She ‘thinks’ she has a structural problem with her house, so I’ll get all the details about that. Her health isn’t good, she’s on her own, so things do worry her.
Best wishes to all. X
I did suggest that the vicar went home. However, he’s a big boy and I didn’t think I could force him…
GrannyIvy just tell her that you can't drive her home next week because you have plans.
Good morning from a dullish Suffolk after 2 lovely sunny days.
There are masses of conkers in the churchyard adjoining our garden and I’ve been asked to collect some for youngest DGS. I remember our Dc soaking them in vinegar in the belief that they would beat their friends in conker fights. Not sure if it helped!
Off shortly to my stretch class and then coffee afterwards with a couple of friends who I’ve met there.
Hope today is a good one for all.
Good morning from damp South Lanarkshire.
I’ve woken with a headache because I actually slept through the night. The problem with that rare event is that I get dehydrated very quickly but normally drink about half a pint of fluid during the night. I also need to deal with a medical appliance through the night so it’s not ideal for me. Never happy.
Charity shop today as I couldn’t do Tuesday, I’ve no idea who else is in today.
I haven’t read the thread yet so will do that now.
Good wishes to everyone.
