A windy good morning from a surprisingly warm north Wales, methinks I’ll just trot round the corner for my 🗞️ later rather than the hike through the trees to next town!

Hope you’re all surviving the weather and woes on the health fronts, major or minor - I’m booked in for a flu 💉 next week…before Mr PG! He has to wait for the over 75s batch and is miffed😂

Today will be spent wiping, wrapping and storing a huge bag of Dads 🍎 which should see me 👩🏻‍🍳goddessing my way through the winter producing pies, crumbles and sauces aplenty!

Free electricity tomorrow is the end of my exciting weekend where PG Towers will be like a 🇨🇳 🧺 with five washes sorted!

A peaceful weekend for you all 🙏

Good morning from Shropshire.Sounds calmer after yesterdays gales and torrential rain.

A quiet day planned as we are out to Tattoo Cymraeg tonight so a late night.

We have twelve hours free electricity tomorrow too Pantglas and I also have five loads of washing planned. Will use the tumble dryer too.

Hope Grandmabatty is feeling better and thoughts to all struggling.

Wishing everyone a good day🦩🌻

Good morning from a damp Bristol. It will be stormy later on.
I slept well for a change but am really annoyed that my loo stopcock which has been misbehaving has spoiled my good temper by giving up entirely p. It’s not 2 years old. I’m going to have to get a plumber in, urgently, as I’m away from Friday. Grrr…
Yesterday went well, although I was tired. The greengrocer has been extraordinarily generous, my harvest display this morning will be lovely.
I’ve got a covid/flu vaccination at midday, and no doubt I shall have to queue for ages, hopefully not in the wind and rain.
I’m making bread this afternoon for the Harvest lunch tomorrow, though I doubt I’ll be staying on as the jag always makes me feel unwell for a few days.
Bellasnanaand I had a chat yesterday morning to arrange a meeting; next Saturday. Very excited.
I hope everyone has a good weekend l. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Bellasnana Sat 04-Oct-25 06:20:32

Good morning from Malta where yesterday’s wind has dropped and we expect a sunny day with a high of 24°C. It feels chilly! I had to wear long sleeves yesterday!

Had the usual broken night with some very weird dreams so have woken feeling rather fuzzy headed.

I shall do some cleaning and laundry today but there’s also tennis from Shanghai to watch so I shall fit it in around that.

This evening I’m off to babysit the boys as their parents are going to an anniversary party.

I’m delighted as I haven’t seen them since Tuesday and really miss them. Not sure if I shall sleep there or here, it depends how late DD3 and SiL are planning to stay out.

Take care everyone, I hope the storm hasn’t caused problems for any of you and that you all have a good day.☀️

Good morning from the Midlands, what a storm last night but at least the grass got a soaking.
Quiet weekend planned and going to make a bread pudding since I had I've. My grandmothers were the best but she used suet, mine will be Flora buttery so won't be as good, but I will like it,

peli Sat 04-Oct-25 06:33:41

Good Morning fr MS, sunny & 28c. The pumpkin patches opened on Oct 1st. We buy pumpkins for decor, & also use them for cooking - eg. chili & baked goods. The Autumn decorating season is officially open as well - that's a v big "thing" here. I hope everybody has a relaxing day & that the poorly pp'l feel a bit brighter.

Good morning from a dry but very windy Torbay.

An unexpected turn of events yesterday as one of the garden flats was flooded. The poor occupant is a single mother who returned home from holiday at midnight on Thursday to find her front door wouldn’t open as the flat was flooded! Luckily, her daughters had stayed with their grandmother all week.

Before long, contractors were on site and (amazingly) members of staff from the management company and representatives of the leaseholders of whom we never see hide nor hair! All her worldly goods had to be brought out and some are on the frontage, awaiting a visit from the insurance assessor on Monday. The little family is being housed in a luxury caravan for a week on a site where the grandmother is a saleswoman. Another flat has been having a leak investigated (just like I had last year) and that was the cause of the problem. The owner of that property is currently on holiday.

Various neighbours pitched in to help. DH and some younger folk carried her sofas into the communal hallway where much of her furniture is being stored awaiting transport to a storage unit over the weekend. We have several damp photo albums spread out on an airer whilst we run the dehumidifier and an oil filled radiator in the hope of drying them for her. The little family is being housed in a luxury caravan for a week on a site where the grandmother is a saleswoman.

An early Lidl shop is planned here.

How lovely to meet up with Bellasnana, grandMattie!

Happy weekend and stay safe and warm! 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Good morning from blustery south Glos, it’s damp and dark here at the moment. We dodged the showers yesterday when out, we didn’t have as much rain as I’d expected.
I didn’t get to my art group yesterday as DH announced he was going out to get a haircut 😡, knowing full well that I have my only weekly outing on a Friday morning and that bigger dog has her dog walker. Why on earth he does this I don’t know, he has the whole week apart from Friday morning to do whatever he likes.
I made leek and potato soup for dinner, putting some in the freezer. It was quite tasty.
Nothing planned for today, it will be a blowy dog walk this morning!
Take care everyone 🌹

God morning from a windy Glasgow, where it is 10°C, . Poor DD has lost part of her garage roof.😔

I'm awake early, the hacking cough has returned and DH has brought me a cuppa, I'm anxious that the cough will prevent me having my procedure on Monday, I was asked about it yesterday, when one of the scope nurses phoned,

Yesterday, my visit to Silverburn was a short one, I couldn't manage the walk down to Tesco from Marks, where to my utter joy, Scan and Go was operational again, 😂
Unpacking and packing a trolley is very difficult for me, anything to make my life easier,
I picked up lots of yellow sticker beef items, then got home to find little space in neither freezer.😱
I then had a workout, trying to cram it all in. It may never see the light of day again. 😂

Even although I was struggling, I succeeded in making a detour via Monsoon, where I picked up a 60% off dress, it could be classed as a case of shopping addiction triumphs over physical limitations. 😌

Late afternoon, a rather wet man, SIL, appeared out of the storm. He pretended he was just passing (miles from home) and looked as if he was settling down for some time, The biscuit tin was raided and Mars Bar cake and melting moments were quickly consumed, with a request that I don't tell DD. 😂

He mentioned picking up DD at the station, which I assumed was their local one in the village, but it turned out that she was coming here on a different line, to check up I wasn't dying 😉 When she did arrive, I had the usual lecture about keeping my health issues a secret, she has a point.

Today will be a quiet day, I feel quite ropey, my stomach is niggling away,
There is a thread on GN about decluttering craft stuff. This inspired me yesterday to do an hour in my craft room, How many envelopes can a person have?
DIL's sister, a guide leader, will be delighted with the suitcase of card and embellishments,
I may do another hour today to take my mind off things,

I was hoping for more photos of Cordoba, GG,

DH likes to go early for his racing papers, Yesterday, his golfing partner, who is sheilding before his transplant, phoned asking DH to get his racing papers and morning rolls today. DH said it was not a problem, then his partner proceeded to give him a shopping list for a number of neighbours, whose papers and roks he normally gets. I had to raid my purse for enough cash to pay for it all. 😂

I have been comforted by all your good wishes, it means a lot to me. I am feeling a tad sorry for myself at the moment. Thank you, ♥️

My thoughts and prayersare with all the mountaineers.

Stay safe, folks, I can hear the wind outside, Last night, I thought the conservatory roof was coming off!!

Marydoll Sat 04-Oct-25 06:49:21

Peli, my DIL would love that display! Her house is already decorated with Halloween items and Babydoll is now hooked!

What a dreadful thing to happen to your neighbour, Ash.

Sillydilly Sat 04-Oct-25 06:49:52

Very dark outside but sounds calm.

No real plan for today, if it is dry-ish, I’ll pop out and do litter picking.

Wishing you all a good weekend x

baubles Sat 04-Oct-25 07:06:22

Good morning from South Lanarkshire.
Thankfully the wind has died down after yesterday’s wild weather.

I hope none of you have been badly affected by the storm. There are lots of trees down around our town apparently. I was supposed to be meeting Baggs today but there are no trains and her neck of the woods was badly affected yesterday so our outing has had to be postponed.

DH has been installing a new vanity unit in the downstairs loo but, predictably there’s a plumbing problem for which he’s had to order a part which won’t be here for another couple of days. This is why I dislike redecorating, the entire house seems to be in a guddle.

I’ll have a quiet day crocheting I think.

Have the best day possible everyone.

karmalady Sat 04-Oct-25 07:12:49

Good morning from soggy s somerset

More rain today and a yellow wind warning, I am staying put inside today

I have been trying to get to bed later and up later, so far so good. I have not been nodding off either so am getting a full sleep at night

I put a few cured squash into my garage yesterday and will today clear some wire shelves for the others. I could do with another session of tidying in there, might do that today, it is a grand overflow area to the house. I did a trip run, weeds and trimmings and the tomato plants, I wanted to get everything done in good time, I don`t enjoy these jobs when the weather is too cold.

The flooding your neighbours have had Ash it is so traumatic for all of you, being so close by. Community spirit does happen when needed

Bed changing later today, my free electricity is today from 12 to 2, I am certainly not doing any washing today, I want it to dry outside, which it will do later this week. I am changing my linen to the autumnal taupe colours and will be storing the pink gingham for next spring

Have a good day

kittylester Sat 04-Oct-25 07:12:50

Morning from North Leicestershire where it is much calmer than last night.

Today, I am going to drive - fair warning!

Where are you sillydilly?

Have the best day possible everyone.

Grandmabatty Sat 04-Oct-25 07:15:59

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 9° and wet. Yesterday was stormy. We had a power cut late afternoon and there are trees down locally. I'll go into the garden later to assess the damage, if any.
Ash your poor neighbour. GrandMattie how lovely to catch up with Bellasnana. Susan thank you. I'm feeling a bit better.
Yesterday I spent in the house waiting for a delivery which didn't arrive. Although I was initially annoyed, I realised the weather was so bad, it would have been dangerous to drive. Apparently it's arriving today. I pottered about the house and rested in equal measures. I had run out of bread so made a loaf in the morning. I realised I was not well prepared for a power cut, so I'll buy a flask and I've charged a battery operated lamp. My friend messaged me to say she has covid again quite badly. It's a worry as she had it a few weeks ago.
Today the plan is for housework and washing. I really need to get into the dining room as it's piled high with stuff which needs sorting. If I do a little every so often, I should clear it this weekend. Dinner will be out of the fridge. Have a good day all.

Jaxjacky Sat 04-Oct-25 07:16:18

Morning, dry in S Hants with a breeze, we escaped the foul weather further north, MrJ’s family members in NI and Donegal all lost power.
I had my pneumococcal jab yesterday, no reaction at all.
I’ve lasagna to make later for family visiting tomorrow, it’s been a while since we were all together.
Thanks for the picture peli it reminds me of business trips to the US around this time and approaching Christmas.
Have a good day all.

Good Morning from Durham. I’ve been awake a couple of hours, just watching tv in bed, but have yet to check if there’s any damage outside. I expect the apple and pear trees will be bare - it’s still very windy here. My sore back might mean the windfalls stay where they are - I don’t use them and no-one ever wants them, so they are just binned.
Meeting my friend for coffee today - I haven’t seen her for 3 weeks, as we’ve both been away on our travels, so a lot of catching up to do.
Only 2 hours free electricity from Octopus later - I wish they would do a longer period, plus I believe it’s not quite as free as it sounds.

Best wishes to all. X

karmalady Sat 04-Oct-25 07:29:12

Georgesgran mine is octopus too and I am not finding the `free` electricity is worth the effort. You only get free what you use above normal usage. I worked very intensively last 4 sessions and have received a total of £1.60. I am not bothering again

brook2704 Sat 04-Oct-25 07:41:45

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve grey clouds but dry and a lot less windy than last night
What a shame for the family re the flooding Ash, hope they can get things sorted out fairly quickly
We’re off into town this morning then we’ll call into DD2s later. Yesterday’s storm brought a lot of trees down locally and I’ve seen reports of a couple of shop roof signs blown off at the retail park so will see what it’s like.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

grandMattie Sat 04-Oct-25 07:44:38

Not met bellas yet. That will be Saturday next week when I’m in Malta. The chat was at the telephone to arrange the meeting cara a cara.

luluaugust Sat 04-Oct-25 07:46:21

Good morning from a chilly W Kent. I must get up soon as we have our flu and Covid jabs today. A quiet weekend ahead as I always feel rough afterwards. My deaf group yesterday was poorly attended only 3 of us, sometimes there is 10 to 15 I can only imagine the weather put people off. The lady who runs it reminds me of an old friend of my mums, we were just getting down to family gossip when a gentleman arrived and put a stop to that 😂
Best wishes to all

Greyduster Sat 04-Oct-25 08:00:09

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a wet, very windy South Yorkshire, where the garden chairs have rearranged themselves all over the patio and my potted rose is getting a battering. I asked DS to take a rain check on coming down today as I would worry about him travelling on the motorway. I think he was quite grateful. There will be other, calmer weekends.
All the decorating is now finished. The colour I chose for the bedroom is rather startling but I’m sure I’ll get used to it, and it will look better when the pictures and the curtains are back up and the bed remade. Today I will finish putting back small items of furniture into the two rooms and replacing the photos and oddments.
Peli the photo is lovely. I think we all envy you that porch.
Have the best day you can folks.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 04-Oct-25 08:02:52

My friend and I are going to gatecrash a rather nice hotel today right in the beach front. There will be lots of lazing on a lounger and people watching.

Last night we popped into the same hotel for a vino blanco and discovered the most tremendous trio of male singers a Spanish Il Divo. They were so good we were reduced to tears by nessun dorma.

Enjoy your Saturday Good morningers,

Take it easy Marydoll
