Can’t top that tale, Weirdo! Sunny, windy and showery here in the south west and must brave the supermarket in order to feed DD and DSiL who are arriving later today. It will be good to see them and I appreciate the fact that they take the trouble to come so far. No little jobs lined up for them either.

Hope the weather doesn’t get in the way of plans today and that we all have a good day.

Good morning, Michael12 and everyone!

All day yesterday and all night here in little Appleby, we had torrential rain, very strong winds, very cold and a massive storm! It was all so gorgeous!

There's been roadworks outside our houses for several weeks, probably going on for several more, and the storm was blowing over the metal signs and sending other things in the air! The trees look like they were contortionists!

I had my bedroom window wide open, and the wind and noise were lovely as it came in as I lay in bed, hugging 2 hot water bottles, my PercyRoboCat and a huge fluffy cushion!

True story: I accidentally annoyed a slug last night! I'd got out of bed about 11 pm to do a bit of washing up - mug, plate, metal straw and 2 teaspoons - that I'd left in the bowl to soak a few hours earlier, and there on the worktop next to the sink was a very long skinny slug with 2 funny little antennas poking from his head!

I chatted away to him, asking him what sort of day he's had, apologising for disturbing him while I washed up, and his body language looked quite ''annoyed''.

I'm gob-smacked just how fast they can move, as within the 5 minutes I'd washed up, dried and put stuff away, he'd sped off to the top of the sink then ''ran'' out of the open window onto the outside windowsill!

I called out ''Sluggie, please don't leave me! I promise I'll change!'' But he didn't come back!

When I die, if there's anything I want people to remember me for, it's one hell of a wacky sense of humour!

Good morning from a lovely sunny Margate.

Hope everyone is ok after a rather blustery night 🌬️

Just having breakfast and then heading to Aylesbury, to see Level 42 this evening.

Before driving back tomorrow.

Have a great day 😊

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 04-Oct-25 09:12:31

A quick morning all from a blustery West Oxfordshire.

Sister and brother in law are here and it’s lovely to have them. We are out to lunch at one of our favourite restaurants.

Have a good day. Thinking specially of MaryD and the FGT2S.

Good morning from a windy northwest coast. Jolly art yesterday morning and then had my remote garage door gadget fitted with a new battery.
Felt tired yesterday after a busy time, so enjoyed a quiet afternoon and evening. Will bang out some notes for the opera co. pieces today.

I’m supposed to going on to a Spanish galleon in the river today, a replica of the original, followed by a meal with old pianist friend but in this wind it raises a question mark. Hopefully it will die down by 6.
Thoughts to all🌺

Good morning all and it’s bright, sunny with a bit of a breeze but nothing to worry about.

I’m taking youngest gd to Brownie Camp today , I hope they don’t get blown away. Tiny little brown and yellow people . I think they are inside buildings and not under canvas thank goodness. She’s so excited.

Dh and I had our flu jabs yesterday. Dh also had the Covid one.
No reaction whatsoever 🤞.

We met up with our Friday pals but one lady was poorly with a swollen face. She was in a lot of pain so her Dh took her home. I must check in with her today.

DIL is home from hospital and had a good night. DS1 baked a Victoria sponge welcome home and will care for her every need.💞. I’ll pop to see her in a day or two.

Hoping you all have a good day. Keep safe

Good morning from grey and wet NE.
Weather was awful yesterday, gusty with heavy rain. I only left the house to bring the wheelie bin in.
This morning GD2 is at school for open morning, she shows prospective pupils and parents around and plays the piano in the music department.
DS and GD will come to mine after school.
The forecast is for very windy weather again, I hope it will not be dangerous travelling.
Thoughts are with poorly people.

Good morning. After last night’s wind and rain we have sunshine in N.Buo. Just one flower pot blown over and lots of twigs and leaves.
My shoulder is still painful and Son in Law is making me an appointment with his physio. I really need something sorted before we go away next week.
This morning we will do a local food shop and then pick up Mother in Law and take her for lunch. Afterwards she has her flu jab.
I shall be kitten sitting tonight as DD and family are away overnight and the two very cute kittens are so new.
Wishing you all a good day , especially those with illness and or troubles.

Good morning from a sunny and windy Suffolk although we’ve here in the East had nothing like the high winds in Ireland and other parts of the country.

The only thing I can see in the garden is a large fallen branch of an Elm tree which was rotten and hanging precariously.
How awful Ashfor your young neighbour to return home to find such devastation in her home but reassuring to read about the help and support you and others are giving her.

DH and I have our Covid and flu jabs this morning. DH never has any reaction to them whereas I usually have a sore arm and feel tired for a day or so. There seems to be a lot of Covid around so I’m grateful for the protection the jabs give.

Hope today is a peaceful one for all.

Good morning all from a sunny but windy south coast. I’m tired and achy this morning after a lot of walking yesterday. Lunch and shopping was fun but I was so busy chatting to a friend that we got on the wrong bus which was OK for her but the route changes slightly after her stop and misses out mine. Getting off added twenty minutes to my walk home. I made it just in time before the heavens opened. I won’t make that mistake again! I won’t be doing anything strenuous today if I can help it.
Hope those in the north haven’t suffered any storm damage.
Have the best day possible.

For Marydoll

GrannyGravy13 Sat 04-Oct-25 08:02:52

My friend and I are going to gatecrash a rather nice hotel today right in the beach front. There will be lots of lazing on a lounger and people watching.

Last night we popped into the same hotel for a vino blanco and discovered the most tremendous trio of male singers a Spanish Il Divo. They were so good we were reduced to tears by nessun dorma.

Enjoy your Saturday Good morningers,

Take it easy Marydoll

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a wet, very windy South Yorkshire, where the garden chairs have rearranged themselves all over the patio and my potted rose is getting a battering. I asked DS to take a rain check on coming down today as I would worry about him travelling on the motorway. I think he was quite grateful. There will be other, calmer weekends.
All the decorating is now finished. The colour I chose for the bedroom is rather startling but I’m sure I’ll get used to it, and it will look better when the pictures and the curtains are back up and the bed remade. Today I will finish putting back small items of furniture into the two rooms and replacing the photos and oddments.
Peli the photo is lovely. I think we all envy you that porch.
Have the best day you can folks.

Good morning from a chilly W Kent. I must get up soon as we have our flu and Covid jabs today. A quiet weekend ahead as I always feel rough afterwards. My deaf group yesterday was poorly attended only 3 of us, sometimes there is 10 to 15 I can only imagine the weather put people off. The lady who runs it reminds me of an old friend of my mums, we were just getting down to family gossip when a gentleman arrived and put a stop to that 😂
Best wishes to all

Not met bellas yet. That will be Saturday next week when I’m in Malta. The chat was at the telephone to arrange the meeting cara a cara.

brook2704 Sat 04-Oct-25 07:41:45

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve grey clouds but dry and a lot less windy than last night
What a shame for the family re the flooding Ash, hope they can get things sorted out fairly quickly
We’re off into town this morning then we’ll call into DD2s later. Yesterday’s storm brought a lot of trees down locally and I’ve seen reports of a couple of shop roof signs blown off at the retail park so will see what it’s like.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

karmalady Sat 04-Oct-25 07:29:12

Georgesgran mine is octopus too and I am not finding the `free` electricity is worth the effort. You only get free what you use above normal usage. I worked very intensively last 4 sessions and have received a total of £1.60. I am not bothering again

Georgesgran Sat 04-Oct-25 07:17:27

Good Morning from Durham. I’ve been awake a couple of hours, just watching tv in bed, but have yet to check if there’s any damage outside. I expect the apple and pear trees will be bare - it’s still very windy here. My sore back might mean the windfalls stay where they are - I don’t use them and no-one ever wants them, so they are just binned.
Meeting my friend for coffee today - I haven’t seen her for 3 weeks, as we’ve both been away on our travels, so a lot of catching up to do.
Only 2 hours free electricity from Octopus later - I wish they would do a longer period, plus I believe it’s not quite as free as it sounds.

Best wishes to all. X

Morning, dry in S Hants with a breeze, we escaped the foul weather further north, MrJ’s family members in NI and Donegal all lost power.
I had my pneumococcal jab yesterday, no reaction at all.
I’ve lasagna to make later for family visiting tomorrow, it’s been a while since we were all together.
Thanks for the picture peli it reminds me of business trips to the US around this time and approaching Christmas.
Have a good day all.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 9° and wet. Yesterday was stormy. We had a power cut late afternoon and there are trees down locally. I'll go into the garden later to assess the damage, if any.
Ash your poor neighbour. GrandMattie how lovely to catch up with Bellasnana. Susan thank you. I'm feeling a bit better.
Yesterday I spent in the house waiting for a delivery which didn't arrive. Although I was initially annoyed, I realised the weather was so bad, it would have been dangerous to drive. Apparently it's arriving today. I pottered about the house and rested in equal measures. I had run out of bread so made a loaf in the morning. I realised I was not well prepared for a power cut, so I'll buy a flask and I've charged a battery operated lamp. My friend messaged me to say she has covid again quite badly. It's a worry as she had it a few weeks ago.
Today the plan is for housework and washing. I really need to get into the dining room as it's piled high with stuff which needs sorting. If I do a little every so often, I should clear it this weekend. Dinner will be out of the fridge. Have a good day all.

Morning from North Leicestershire where it is much calmer than last night.

Today, I am going to drive - fair warning!

Where are you sillydilly?

Have the best day possible everyone.

karmalady Sat 04-Oct-25 07:12:49

Good morning from soggy s somerset

More rain today and a yellow wind warning, I am staying put inside today

I have been trying to get to bed later and up later, so far so good. I have not been nodding off either so am getting a full sleep at night

I put a few cured squash into my garage yesterday and will today clear some wire shelves for the others. I could do with another session of tidying in there, might do that today, it is a grand overflow area to the house. I did a trip run, weeds and trimmings and the tomato plants, I wanted to get everything done in good time, I don`t enjoy these jobs when the weather is too cold.

The flooding your neighbours have had Ash it is so traumatic for all of you, being so close by. Community spirit does happen when needed

Bed changing later today, my free electricity is today from 12 to 2, I am certainly not doing any washing today, I want it to dry outside, which it will do later this week. I am changing my linen to the autumnal taupe colours and will be storing the pink gingham for next spring

Have a good day

Good morning from South Lanarkshire.
Thankfully the wind has died down after yesterday’s wild weather.

I hope none of you have been badly affected by the storm. There are lots of trees down around our town apparently. I was supposed to be meeting Baggs today but there are no trains and her neck of the woods was badly affected yesterday so our outing has had to be postponed.

DH has been installing a new vanity unit in the downstairs loo but, predictably there’s a plumbing problem for which he’s had to order a part which won’t be here for another couple of days. This is why I dislike redecorating, the entire house seems to be in a guddle.

I’ll have a quiet day crocheting I think.

Have the best day possible everyone.
