We might not always agree and have no idea what you are supposed to have done but it's a shame to lose posters unless they are trolls or deliberate stirrers.

Nobody knows why posters are banned on forums except the moderators and the banned person.Sometimes they are allowed back after a period of ‘grace’ and sometimes not, it’s all in the hands of the moderation team.
If posters observe forum guidelines then it wouldn’t ever happen. Time for everyone to remember there’s a real person behind every user name.

Quite right and this is why I have never and would never report anyone.

I refer you to GN to ask questions.Anyone who reports a post certainly does not know why the poster is banned, it would hardly be for one deleted post!

Yes Oreo I did understand. I've had some nasty posts directed at me over the years I've been on Gransnet but didn't report them. I leave them for others to see and just hope someone is having a bad day and they won't be repeated. I would never want anyone banned because I've reported them.

I agree.
Have had some nasty remarks made to me but have never reported it, have only reported it if it is a racist remark made in general. Personal remarks are hurtful but I would also leave them for others to see so they know what kind of poster they are dealing with.
Would never seek to ban a poster but I think GNVQ do this if a poster has had frequent warnings. WWM didn’t have frequent warnings so I imagine was a mistake or a knee jerk reaction.
The best way forwards is, if you feel hurt by a certain remark, to search your conscience and wonder if you have done the same thing to others.
People can get testy if you say something nasty to them.

I’ve never reported anyone, even when I’ve received hurtful, sarcastic, personal remarks (only on the N&P forum). Like you, I prefer to leave those posts up for others to see.
