A dark but dry start here in Brackley this morning.
Today, we have people in the building where I live checking electric and other bits in the apartments .
So its housework etc this morning.
Later in the week I get all the equipment from BT as to going digital phone wise .
Health OK ,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a dry Portsmouth after an overnight stay in Travelodge prior to our ferry leaving at 8.00 am for Ouistreham.

Our journey down wasn’t great especially at the end when we were confronted by signs saying M27 closed after J12 which is our exit! This led to long tail backs as three lanes of heavy traffic were reduced to one and this could only be achieved by the goodwill of drivers allowing others to filter across. It appears that resurfacing of that stretch of motorway is taking place, with the work only being undertaken at weekends.

A meal at the neighbouring pub revived our flagging spirits!

Wishing everyone a good day! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning from Malta.
I managed a fantastic night’s sleep and am feeling great this morning!
We did the prehistoric bits yesterday morning in the south of the island. They are not humongous but very interesting. We then stopped in an extremely popular fishing village for lunch. Goodness me, it barely possible to breathe, leave move, but was utterly charming despite that.
In the afternoon, we went on a boat trip round the harbourS. I’m a dreadful sailor and didn’t much enjoy that…
Dinner, unusually, was provided by the hotel; (a glass of) wine was taken and I was asleep before 10!
Today, it’s Gozo- another boat trip 😢
Have a happy day, hugs to the mountaineers.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning Mick from a cool @nd dark north Wales where I’m about to sit under the trees with the chamberpot ☕️😉 and look up at the stars before the sky lightens. I love feeling totally insignificant and that my worries matter not a jot in the whole scheme of things…

Enough of the philosophical stuff 🧐 and more about today’s exitments🤗 as it’s promising a sunny afternoon we’ll hop on a bus to our secret garden behind the wine shop in Conwy and enjoy a glass bottle of pinot Grigio and chat to visitors - I’ll chat to anyone, especially if there’s a baby or a dog!

Then home for ⚽️ later where I’m afraid little 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 have a mountain to climb beating Belgium - these pesky bigger countries have so much more talent to choose from 🤨

Lovely to see folks gallivanting home and away (I include you in that gang Miss MD 😄) and hope those with various challenges have an easier start to the week x

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 9° and a little foggy. Ashcombe safe journey to France. No more unexpected detours!
Yesterday I did some gardening after the hedge removal and fence work. I pottered about in the house too. I made a slow cooker pot of lentil soup, a pot of ratatouille and a pot of stovies.
Today it's early childcare day. I'm having the boys in the morning then dropping them off at their other grandparents at lunchtime. Then it's a trip to Edinburgh to get my results. I'm prepared for the worst but hoping for the best. Have a good day all.

Grandmabatty Mon 13-Oct-25 05:48:04

GrandMattie I'm a poor sailor too! Your photos are lovely.

Good morning from Malta where thundery showers are forecast with a high of 26°C.

Looks as though you visited Marsaxlokk (pronounced Marsa - shlock) grandMattie. It’s only a twenty minute crossing to Gozo on the ferry so hope you’ll feel ok.

Marydoll you asked yesterday about the restaurant. Yes, it did used to have green umbrellas! Caffè Cordina is the name.😊

I did nothing yesterday as I was so dopey after my sleeping pills. Didn’t sleep a wink last night again, it’s such a nuisance.

My friend has messaged to say she is on the plane so I had better get my skates on as I will be picking her up in three hours or so!

We have been friends since 1978 when we were both Nannies in Ealing, W.London. How the years have flown away.

Sorry your journey was tiresome yesterday Ashcombe, safe travels over to France.

Wishing you all a good day.☀️

Good morning from a dark but dry NE.
Yesterday was a sunny day but about 4pm it became foggy and remained overnight, cleared now.
Got a message from DD during the afternoon saying she intended to ring me but was feeling ill so she was going to stay in bed. Symptoms were so severe she did a covid test and it was positive. She suspects it is the new variant as the symptoms are much worse than the two previous times she has had covid.
Nothing planned for today and no visitors during the week as my sister and BIL are off on holiday today.

kittylester Mon 13-Oct-25 06:39:32

Good morning all from a dark and chilly North Leicestershire.

I am going to the hairdresser to get my colour done while DH goes to the gym and drops the ironing off.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning from s somerset, I think it will be dull weather today and for the whole week

My house is cooling so I did light the stove yesterday, just a few logs and the hot stove stays hot for the whole evening after the embers have died. I am hoping the plumber calls me this week but I do know he is very busy at this time of year and will need several hours to fix my boiler leak. I have halted the leak but no ch and am not using hot water from the boiler. Still, much better living conditions than when I was a child so am not grumbling. The upside is that my body is adapting to cooler and I have alternatives

My allotment visit was so nice yesterday, I put another 8 x 4 bed to sleep for winter, ample food for fungi, bacteria and worms under a cover of damp cardboard. I weeded, on hands and knees which is very grounding and removed a net from cavalo nero. My cabbages are more attractive to pigeons so I left their net on. The autumnal ambience in the rural area is palpable now

I spent a couple of hours forward planning for the 2026 planting season. Most seeds have been bought, from real seeds again this year, I have a few more items to order, elsewhere, such as charlotte potatoes. Then today I will be starting a new notebook, as an allotment planner, I will need to know what I am planting in the beds, which will be in full production next year. My old softback notebook is messy, bent over and too full of scribbles

I have a very tall freezer and am looking to make progress on emptying the meat/fish drawer and nut/coffee drawer. I can do that over the next 7 months, my own produce will take priority

Today is very much an unfolding day, a bit of this and a bit of that. I might look at getting a yearly or lifetime pass for Wells cathedral and bishops palace plus 14 acres of gardens, another tranquil area to escape to, plenty of benches there and I can take my sock knitting. Perhaps I will add that to a Christmas present to myself

Have a good day

Good morning from dark, dry Shropshire.

Grandmabatty, praying for the best results for you today🙏🏻

We are going to visit mum today and then will go to check on her house.I have big decisions to make re sorting the house. My daughters and niece have offered to help but realistically it is more than we can manage.I have spoken to a chap about house clearance but want to go through everything myself first but as it’s a 100 mile round trip to get there it’s slow going.

The home requested new cosy night dresses for mum in a smaller size which is also proving tricky🤦🏼‍♀️she is shrinking in height as well and trying to find long sleeved cosy nightclothes is also proving tricky.Any ideas anyone?

Safe travels Ash and olddudders.

Lovely photos grandMattie.

Thoughts with all our mountaineers and wishing everyone the best day possible🌻🦩

Susan56 Mon 13-Oct-25 06:49:40

harrigran my daughter is getting over covid and it has been a lot worse than last time she had it.I hope your daughter feels better soon.

Good Morning from a dark North Yorkshire, where it was very warm with wall to wall sunshine yesterday. I’ve stayed overnight with a friend in a lovely lodge beside lakes near Thirsk. We’ve to vacate by 10am then an hour’s drive North back home, although I may take a little detour - not sure.

Best wishes to all. X

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 13-Oct-25 06:53:46

Morning all from a still dark West Oxfordshire.

Our cleaner should come this morning and I will do a Waitrose shop.

It is my friend over the road monthly Craft afternoon. I have missed the last couple of months (arthritic painful thumb and holiday) so I might take over some of the pottery I made earlier in the year to show off! I think we will be doing Christmassy things.

We didn’t get to the Car Boot sale yesterday. There was thick fog and OH wasn’t happy about sitting outside in the cold.

Have a good day. I hope MaryD has perked up.

DD1 is also suffering with Covid. It’s her third infection and ‘far worse than the other 2 added together’ according to her. She’s very definite that I steer clear.

Redcar Mon 13-Oct-25 07:16:09

Good morning everyone from mid Essex where it’s just getting light, cloudy and a mild 13 degrees. No wonder I was hot in the night.
Did very little yesterday, both DDs were out all day but we spoke in the evening. My friend in Kent is also suffering from lots of aches and pains, her recent hip replacement is also still proving troublesome.
I have to go out this morning but won’t do much after that.

Safe travels to France ash. I hope the boat trip to Gozo isn’t too uncomfortable grandmattie.

Thoughts as ever to those with worries. 🤞for a good result from your tests grandmabatty.

Have the best day possible everyone.

peli Mon 13-Oct-25 07:21:36

Good Morning from sunny MS, 29c.
I hope everyone has a pleasant day.

brook2704 Mon 13-Oct-25 07:25:31

Good morning everyone from DD1s in Cambridge where it’s a grey, cloudy start to the day
Safe journey Ash enjoy being in France with your DH and gMattie sounds like you’re having a lovely holiday, thanks for the pictures
I’m travelling home today after spending a lovely weekend with the family. The DGSs will be at school and the others working so I’ll potter about this morning and then leave around lunchtime, it’s an early evening flight up to Inverness and DH will pick me up from the airport later
Hoping for good news today grandmabatty
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

BlueSapphire Mon 13-Oct-25 07:25:47

Good morning everyone from a still dark Northampton, a dull grey day forecast. Yesterday turned out nice and sunny, but didn't venture out, enjoyed not having to go anywhere, or do anything.

Yoga first thing, then am going to spend the afternoon on dust removal and vacuuming the sitting-room... how can you guess I may have got visitors popping in later this week? Then I shall catch up with my reading.
An easy dinner of ham egg and chips after cooking a small gammon joint yesterday.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Grandmabatty Mon 13-Oct-25 07:27:50

Safe journey home Brook.

Good morning all from a very dark and dull start to the day here on the east coast of Fife,
I’m hoping to go shopping to Sainsburys today - it all depends on my care provider no one turned up yesterday to take me to church, they are so short staffed I’ll phone them today,

Quote for today, don’t worry about tomorrow let today take care of itself 💕💕

Grammaretto Mon 13-Oct-25 07:39:31

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where there's a haar . Hoping it will lift and we'll have another glorious autumn day.

I was with my pottery friends all weekend near Arbroath. We pack and fire the big wood kiln there several times a year and share food, sleep in shifts, drink coffee to keep alert. The results won't be known until next weekend when there's a grand opening.

Today it's exercise class and wash day.
I will be thinking of you Grandmabatty I hope it goes well.

Safe trip to France Ash 🚢
Sorry about all the DDs with covid. Mine has had it recently too and is still exhausted.

I hope everyone's day goes well.

kittylester Mon 13-Oct-25 07:41:23

I forgot to say that it is Wolfie's 7th birthday today and he got Player of the Match in his game yesterday.

Greyduster Mon 13-Oct-25 07:43:53

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Very misty start to the day in South Yorkshire. My Hive controller was playing up this morning so the heating didn’t come on and I had to reset the whole bag of mashings! The boiler is having a service on Friday so I’ll ask the engineer about it.
DD and SiL came over yesterday for lunch and they moved some furniture around for me. I hate it when they have to sing for their supper, but they are always willing helpers and very appreciative dining companions! GS phoned after they left and we had a long conversation, mostly about pasta! Since he left for uni, he’s becoming something of an expert on the subject!
Today I will go to the gym when the mist clears, and take some curtains to be cleaned at a nearby dry cleaners. After that, who knows.
Peli that’s a lovely photo for a dull damp morning.
Have the best day you can, folks.
