Today, we have people in the building where I live checking electric and other bits in the apartments .
So its housework etc this morning.
Later in the week I get all the equipment from BT as to going digital phone wise .
Health OK ,
Take Care,
Mick

Recovering after an unexpectedly social day. My only surviving cousin’s great grandson was being christened but I had declined the invitation as it meant 100 miles plus, mostly on the M4, and I only drive locally these days. On Saturday I got a phone call from the baby’s uncle, a senior paramedic, to say of course I was going and would be picked up at 8.30 am. Such kindness was unexpected and I had a wonderful day, returned home at 6.00 pm completely talk out. I am still overwhelmed at such thoughtfulness. I would like to somehow pay for the petrol so would appreciate any suggestions of how I can do this without offending or diminishing such a generous act.

Session with the hygienist this afternoon but a quiet day otherwise which is just as well after so much lovely chat.

Good morning from dull Wiltshire. Again. Despite assuming a high pressure area means sun it’s been dull here for days. Occasionally the sun appears just as it’s about to go down in the evening, behind the house which backs onto us.

We had youngest GC’s overnight on Saturday. A mix of playing well together and fighting as usual. I was exhausted by the time they were picked up yesterday. They are here again later for tea as it’s school pickup day.

I’ve had a cough since the 2nd week of August following a heavy cold (not COVID). Getting very annoyed by it. I imagine it’s the 100 day cough I’ve heard about. The kids both had coughs too.

Thinking of Grandmabatty today. 🤞

Grandmabatty all the best

Good morning from cloudy grey Lancashire. I’m up, showered and dressed and have had breakfast. MrB is coming to take me for a walk at 10am, so I will read your news later.
Wishing you all a Happy Monday ♥️

GrannySomerset my advice is not to offer money for petrol, they were going anyway. You could send them flowers or offer a bottle of wine if you really want to show appreciation.

Grandmabattythanks thinking of you today and praying for a good result

mamaa Mon 13-Oct-25 10:05:42

Morning all, just popped in to hope all goes well for GrandmaBatty as she gets her results 🤞🏻.
Also while I’m here may I suggest another option of BonMarche re nighties for your Mum Susan56.
We had a similar request from the home where Mum was living so I ordered online some lovely longer length nighties, with long sleeves which were easy care, very comfy and reasonably priced.
I had them delivered directly to the home as we were 300 miles away and I knew that had they not been right my brother or cousin would’ve been able to return them to the shop in town. Luckily this was not needed and they fitted her well, along with bed jackets I bought from there too.
Have as good a day as you can folks x.

Well a very late good morning to Mick and all GN's and actually it is good afternoon not good morning. I had a horrible night of cramp etc and was awake at 3am in quite a lot of pain, and struggling to find a comfortable way to sit. I sat in a chair and eventually went to sleep and then woke up after 7.30am, so missed Bach and your good selves and felt full of aches and pains and not at my best. So here I am catching up on all the news from everyone, finally up dressed and clean and in better frame of mind. I am going to be away for a few days, so dont know what the reception will be , so either miss it all, or will be able to read all your goings on, but not able to write back. Anyway will be home at the end of the week and hope to really enjoy some lovely autumn colours.

I went to meet my family and we had a good get together and I was able to give them the christmas presents to take back with them, promising not to open them in advance, but at least sure they have them. My son never got his birthday card at all, never mind late. Anyway it was good to see them and catch up with all the news and then I decided to drive up the far side of windermere and had a lovely meander through old haunts from when I was working for Nat Trust on that side and then had planned to go home from Ambleside, Windermere etc. Best laid plans!! Major crunch meant roads closed and double decker buses and stupid people who did not know the width of their car, driving up tiny roads to get to Kendal, so it was a very long drawn out trip back and somewhat shattered when I got home.

However I have recovered from that, got a few more things quickly planted in the borders, as they are promising frost at some point and things in little pots would get killed off. So even if I have to move them around later they are fine now, so a good effort made and pleased with what I have got done. Not so pleased when I found that the acer palmarton root had gone down through the hole in the bottom of the pot and now right into the ground. So I need to check up in my books and work out the best and safest time to carefully detach it and plant in the garden. Probably leave it as it is for now, but will see.

Missed Bach before 7 today, but cheers J S Bach is the composer of the week on radio 3 at 4pm, so shall be able to make up for lost time listening to that. Needed warmer trousers and jacket on today, but wont be able to walk very far today because my right leg is not good. But I shall put some coffee things together and go off into the countryside and enjoy the smells and sounds of autumn and carry on reading my Yorkshire Post magazine and do the crossword. What a decadent use of time!! Am not attempting to plan any serious job today as my leg will govern what I can do.

So it has been good to sit here and read all your posts and what you are all up to today. Good luck with your digital phone change over Mick and hope they dont find any problems today. GrandMattie, glad you are enjoying your holiday and enjoyed seeing your photo of the GNs get together.Karmalady, you are doing well with your organising for the allotment, I havent even really decided what is going in all the borders yet!! Susan56, could you stay over at your mothers house for anight? Just thinking that you could get quite a lot done if you stayed and didnt have to drive there and back both times! It is always a difficult thing going through stuff and I think even when you are fit physically it knocks the stuffing out of you having to make decisions and seeing old memories of things and times past. Re the night clothes query, could you try looking in a childrens department to see if there is something suitable, but also I would go and look in something like Mountain warehouse, where they tend to have warm and cosy night stuff for campers and hikers. Another area could be looking for the long johns that go under ski ing or sailing clothes and use them as pajamas . The third suggestion is to find possible short sleeved nightdress or pajama top, but have a warm fleecy bed jacket that could be put on and off easily, which would then be ok for a variety of temperatures. In winter I find it can go from reasonably warm until the heating goes off but if I wake up at 3am, it can be flipping freezing. You can also get (rather expensive but wonderful!) cashmere bed sox and gloves. So when I was camping, my sleeping bag was fine but I found the gloves worth having to be able to have my hands outside the bag, and they are easy to take on and off as and when it suits you. Hope one of these ideas might be of help to you.

Well time to get going and do a bit. Hope the day goes well for everyone and I am going to catch up with the posts from the last couple of days and get up to date. We have sun and dry here at the moment, but no idea what is to come. Enjoy your day everyone
