I dreamed a dream...

Last night I had a dream, which is most unlike me, as I hardly ever remember dreaming.
However, in my dream I was sitting at my kitchen table (which wasn't my kitchen or my table) and opposite me was kittylester.
Now, I have never met kitty or seen a photo of her, but there she was. She had steel grey hair with a slight curl, and was wearing spectacles in a deep shade of pink, a sensible sweater and jacket, I don't recall the colour.
We were having a conversation about a recent cruise we'd both been on.
I've only done one cruise and one transatlantic crossing, so where we had been cruising is a mystery.
It was a lovely dream but very surreal.
I hope you don't mind me dreaming about you kitty.

Kitty must reply to this in case she matches your description.
😁

I certainly don't mind you dreaming about me but I have just paid a fortune

kittylester Thu 16-Oct-25 14:35:33

Sorry pressed by mistake

Just paid a fortune for highlights!!

Oreo Thu 16-Oct-25 16:31:56

Yeah but how about the pink specs and the sensible clobber?😁

kittylester Thu 16-Oct-25 16:37:42

My glasses are pink/purple with green bits and I'm currently wearing an multicoloured White stuff jumper.

DH and I were talking about another river cruises earlier though.

I hardly ever remember my dreams but this morning after a deep sleep waking up I had dreamed that my beloved late mother was still alive. I was talking to her and telling her that a dear friend from my childhood with whom I have recently connected had died!
Mother and I were shopping together. Then my handbag got stolen in the shop and I was fretting that I couldn't cancel a particular card because I did'nt know it's reference number.
Then I woke up.
If this is what remembering dreams is like, I'd rather not do it.

I dreamt once that we had a huge meet-up.
I remember actually meeting people whose names I knew but can’t recall who they were.
It was very strange as no- one looked like I had imagined.
This happens in real life when members post photos, my imaginings are mostly very wrong.

I think MiniMoon is psychic!

I don't think I am psychic. I have had ghostly experiences though.
Dreams are funny things.

Does anyone else have anxiety dreams? I always have them when, for some reason, I am worried about something. They always consist of a scenario where I am lost. I find myself somewhere huge like an airport and I can’t find my DH and I don’t have my phone. I remember them clearly the next day and they hang over me for hours.

I get worry dreams that are very similar. I am somewhere far from where I should be and have to either catch a plane or pick up the GCs from nursery or more recently be at the hospital because my DH has taken a turn for the worse. I usually have my phone but for some reason can’t use it and everything slows down despite my urgency. And I find myself going for a coffee etc., even though I am stressed about where I should be.
Is totally horrible.

Babs03
I feel for you.

I had a dream in which I was tucked up in our tent with DH, DS and DD (children were 8 and 6 at the time). I could hear a child calling, "Let me in, let me in."
Clearly, my longing for another child, which my head had ruled that out.
But that dream was one that stayed with me for days.

Woke to hear myself screaming , a high pitch sound I had never heard before , I opened my eyes in the pitch black bedroom and realised it was coming from my mouth . I stopped and in the silence waited to hear if I had woken neighbours but there was no movement , no dog barking from next door , no distant footsteps , nothing , just blackness and silence and a thumping heart . I had been dreaming and I stepped into a space , a small room or a car , the door locked and there was a man hiding, he was going to hurt me , that's when I woke to hear the screaming .

After I thought to myself , no one heard my scream not even the dog next door . Thank God it was a dream

I remember quite a lot of my dreams and really wish I didn’t.
Some are very gory or frightening. I do sometimes wake up shouting or screaming and take several minutes to realise it was not real.
Very strange because in real life I am fairly calm and apart from usual ups and downs of life perfectly happy.

When I went to dream groups I was taught that all the characters including animals are aspects of yourself.

And I was taught that enclosed spaces such as houses are your life and how you feel about your life. Many people dream about a house with a scary room or wing that they avoid going into.

Sometimers there are recurring human or animal characters some of whom are friendly and supportive.

MiniMoon I suggest you think about the word, kittylester. Is there something emotional going on with you that the word or bits of the word refer to? How did you feel about the dream encounter?

Kate1949 Fri 17-Oct-25 18:11:16

I get recurring anxiety dreams sadgrandma. I am in our city centre at night and can't get home. My phone is broken and I find a phone box and that phone is broken. Another recurring one is in dark room full of people where I am frantically searching for my handbag which I can't find.

Caleo Fri 17-Oct-25 18:13:44

MiniMoon , does the city of Leicester have a special significance for you?

Caleo Fri 17-Oct-25 18:18:52

Kate, what do you use a phone for when you are awake? Is it about communicating with others, or is it about getting information?

It may been just as you said. but the child outside may have been some thing you feel your life has not fulfilled.

I don’t dream that often, but if I do, I don’t normally recall them.
Years ago, when my children were 8 and 10, I remember having this vivid dream that they were both drowning and there was only me to rescue them. I remember being frantic at having to choose as they too far apart in the sea for me to reach both at once. Thankfully, I don’t now what the outcome was as I woke up.
The stupid thing is, living by the sea, we had made sure that the girls had swimming lessons at a very young age.
Consequently, they swam like fish. I couldn’t swim a yard!
