Goodbye Duke & Duchess of York.

Following the accusations earlier this week, Prince Andrew has relinquished his title Duke of York. Same for his ex-wife.

He will still keep his title of Prince Andrew.

But I guess that's the end of the titled road for Fergie.

Harry betrays.

Has Andrew been found guilty of anything?
Not saying he isnt guilty. But has he?

Has this suddenly happened because Guiffre’s posthumous book is about to be published?

No idea.
But could well be.

It was revealed earlier this week that despite his assurances during the Maitliss interview that after the infamous 4 day visit to NYC (to "nobly" inform Epstein they could no longer friends,) he had had absolutely no further contact with him, he was in reality emailing him long after this, telling him "we are in the together".

No doubt the imminent publication of Guiffre's book may have moved things along.

I would supect this has more to do with William and Charles than it does about Andrew personally. I'm not convinced he is that "noble" to have come forward and willingly relinquish all his titles.

That doesn't matter. They keep a low profile and don't discredit the royal family in any way.

And that's as good as it gets?

They and the rest of them could do so much for so many.

I'll never forgive the hideous self serving Fergie for apparently showing an interest in a local project. The building is derelict, no youth service, no nothing.

B and E do not walk on the same planet as most residents.

I think you are wrong, notgran, Beatrice and Eugene were both working and are settled into a different life. Beatrice is a vice-president at US tech company Afiniti, and Eugenie is a director at an art gallery - Hauser & Wirth. They have their own families and have always kept away from the grubby stuff it seems to me.

Working? Did they interview for the positions? Are they struggling to work and look after little ones? Do they deforst the car at 7 am and drive to work?

fancythat Sat 18-Oct-25 08:18:19

What concerns me is that Andrew is being hounded out of his own family, justified or not, for his links with Epstein.

Or is things "just" work related? In reality?

I don't know where this leaves my poor teddy. I was given him when Andrew was born and I named him after the new baby prince: Andrew Albert, Maigret, Christian, Panda. (Maigret as I thought that was the last word in sophistication at the time. Well I was only a very wee girl.) So he's now just plain Andrew Panda to me.

A relative used to have a painting[a replica I suppose] by Rolf Har ris. Not sure what happened to that either!

At the time of the revelations about Andrew and Virginia Giuffre, it was suggested that the settlement was made because of the Queen's Jubilee. Had the case come to court, or not settled so quickly, it would have cast a damaging shadow over her special year.

Yes.

There can be pay offs for all sorts of reasons.

No real time for the girls…l what they live on for a day would keep our grandkids for a year Very very entitled lifestyles and neither started with a paper round did they or a year part time in MacDs? amazing that they ve managed such high positions in the world of work !!!!

They have done nothing wrong though, so it’s a bit harsh to criticise them for living the life they were born into. I think they deserve our sympathy at the moment, as would any children whose parent has been involved in the activities their father was.

Will he continue to be a Counsellor of State?

That's rum list, if ever there was one.

He is technically a Counsellor of State but won't be called upon to carry out those duties. That also applies to Harry.

NotSpaghetti Sat 18-Oct-25 08:03:15

Calendargirl I wasn't saying that they hadn't benefited or led a privileged life - I just think they are very settled and would not be selling books about it (which is what notgran said she thought they would do.).

He’s disgraced his family and that should be his ultimate regret. Never liked him there’s always one black sheep in the family and he’s it.

Astitchintime Sat 18-Oct-25 07:56:36

Whatever will they live on?…………Hang on a minute, didn’t I see that Tesco are recruiting seasonal staff? I can just imagine Andrew and Sarah order picking and shelf stacking.

If you read ‘Entitled’, the latest book about the Yorks lifestyle, you will see that both Beatrice and Eugenie (particularly Eugenie) have benefitted from their parents dubious dealings for years. Gifts, appointments, job opportunities….

Frequent holidays were part of their normal lifestyle, including massive amounts spent on their security until that was reviewed and clamped down on, much to Andrew’s anger. He fought against it for a long time, but was unsuccessful.

No, B&E have lived a very extravagant lifestyle, even if they are now more settled with husbands and children.

Beatrice and Eugenie are independently wealthy though, they have trust funds from their parents divorce settlement, and from the Queen Mother. They are both married to independently wealthy men as well, Beatrice’s husband is a multi millionaire. I don’t think they are struggling financially at all.

What concerns me is that Andrew is being hounded out of his own family, justified or not, for his links with Epstein.

Meanwhile, Peter Mandelson, discovered to have much closer links with Epstein than originally revealed, and an equally shady past, is returning to Britain having been sacked from his post as Ambassador but is still in receipt of his six-figure salary, understood to be on a four-year fixed-term contract.
He has also announced he will remain in the House of Lords.

But of course, another of his best friends is Keir Starmer.

There won’t be revelations about Peter Mandelson of the same nature though, I would wager, as it’s highly unlikely he had illegal sex with underage girls, which is primarily what the Epstein scandal is about. Sex is what sells, rather than friendships and turning a blind eye to others’ activities - unless you know more than has been turned up by the media so far?

I don’t think our young generation are at all interested in the Royal family I think it will peter out but we ll be long gone.

I m not interested in them at all they have too much money and are greedy about taking money off NHS and others when they could afford to build a hospital or two themselves
If they were less intent on owning so much and a bit more humble I would like them a whole lot more
I think Charles is as good as it gets I don’t dislike hm at all but the whole establishment needs cutting in a quarter (to start with)

Where the rub is here is that Prince Andrew, Sarah, Beatrice and Eugenie have an extravagant life style to fund. No longer having easy access to the Royal Purse, where do these entitled people go for their funding? I expect the 2 sisters will each bring out a book of life with Mum and Dad. It will of course not have any gory details but will lead to Oprah/Netflix type deals, they have after all remained friends with Harry & Meghan. Their parents I expect are being funded by Charles to lie low.

eazybee Sat 18-Oct-25 06:45:08

I think the £12 million(?) was paid to put an end to the endless' investigations in the same way as the royal family suddenly 'remembered' that the odious ex-butler Paul Burrell had been 'allowed to keep souvenirs' of the late Diana, rather than helping himself to her possessions after she died.
Neither ploy worked.
In the same way Guiffre was paid off for her testimony against Epstein, to avoid prosecution for recruiting under-age girls herself. Allegedly, obviously.
But she couldn't leave it alone either.

Summerlove Sat 18-Oct-25 01:55:06

My understanding was that as of tonight he was keeping the titles just not using them publicly? Though the headlines certainly say the opposite.

With His Majesty’s agreement, we feel I must now go a step further. I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me.
