I'm running late today but had a great day yesterday taking my DGDs on a fungal foray and later, after they had gone home, I enjoyed >the Seagull at the theatre. Caroline Quenton was excellent as the narcissistic mother.

Good morning from a dry rather grey N Surrey. Lots of washing done yesterday as although it was grey the air was very dry.
Madeleine. I cut the tap root of a lovely mature rosemary' which had burrowed through the hole in a pot' in order to repot it...sadly it then died. So I would advise not doing the same to an established acer.
Lots to read today later on.

Good morning everyone from windy (but not yet rainy) Lancashire. We are setting into a gentle routine at the moment, I’m aware that I mustn’t attempt too much, too soon. We have been for a lovely circular walk this morning, taking in the wibbly wobbly bridge (see photo). I am walking further and faster now, but am resisting the temptation to attempt a really long walk.

Not read the whole thread yet, but good morning from a bright and sunny Northampton, where it isn't supposed to be like this because the forecast said rain! At least I got the back lawn cut yesterday afternoon when I got back from the shops.
While cutting the grass I noticed that my rhododendron is flowering! Not a bud opened all summer, and now in autumn it is full of buds about to burst! The flowers are a beautiful apricot colour, I will take a photo when they are all open.

Nothing planned for today, except to catch up with the weekend papers and tv. I also need to choose a new book to start, having finished my book club read.

May make the SOAP dish for dinner tonight, but will add sliced potatoes and carrots and turn it into a hotpot and make enough for two portions. Saves cooking again tomorrow!

Good morning from a cooler Malta. Today we have a free day so will be relaxing after 3 busy days exploring. I’m glad of it as added to a frozen shoulder, I’ve had a painful problem with one hand and this morning with one foot.
Sar your or DGD is having a different time. Wishing her and GNs with health problems some relief and a good day wished for all .

Good Morning from Durham. Another grey day and it’s wet too.
Not a good start as I was sick through the night, so I plan an easy day, other than collecting a Lego kit from Sainsbury’s at Arnison.
We have ‘suicidal’ pheasants here too Sar but well grown poults. At least they’re not on the roads at night, so can mostly be avoided during the day. We often get a couple of adults wandering around the open plan gardens on this development.

Good morning from a grey NE, been like this all week.
DS and GD visited yesterday after her morning working in the charity shop. She did homework and played the piano.
DS was getting aurora alerts all evening, he likes to be out with his camera but can't do it at mine as there is too much light pollution.
DD and SIL are coming today and we are going out for lunch.
They were at the Rick Wakeman concert yesterday evening.
Thoughts are with poorly people and their carers.

Good morning and we are due rain here in Essex too.
I for one will be pleased to see it after these ‘non event’ days - grey and nothingness.

Yesterday I got a lot done indoors while Dh was out with ds1 at a footie match. Boxes of old ornaments ready for the charity shop.

Today we have my db and his wife coming for coffee. They have a huge orchard so will bring apples and logs.

I hope himself will be able to come home soon FGT 🙏.

Good morning DH survived his 3 hour op yesterday and was in intensive care when I went in attached to many tubes and machines. It is all very state of the art and impressive that the NHSis doing so much to save the life of an 81 year old. They are expecting him to be in a lot of pain today.

I shall take the dog out and then go and see him.
This afternoon for a little R and R I am playing Scrabble with friends.

Good morning from a day in Suffolk like the last dozen,it seems….dull and grey..

Pheasants are reared in pens in our local wood which we often include on our dog walk. They were released a few weeks ago at the beginning of the shooting season and this year,more than ever,they seem so small and young. They gather in groups on the lanes unable really to fly yet and you have to be very careful when driving around to avoid them.

Yesterday on my way back from a visit to our nearest town, I thought there was a large branch down on the lane as I looked ahead. It was actually about 20 little pheasants in the road. As I gradually approached them,they ran this way and that,backwards and forwards, until I managed to get past without any damage to any of them.

I can’t imagine how anyone can think it is sport to shoot such defenceless creatures unable at this stage to even fly very high.

A quiet day with a visit from DS who wants our advice on some financial ideas.

Thinking of those with worries and struggles and hoping today gives some comfort.

I moved back into my newly decorated bedroom last night and the new colour was lovely to wake up to this morning, but I still have a love hate relationship with my bed. I don’t sleep well in it these days, for more reasons than the fact that the mattress needs changing.
Today while we have the dry weather I will do some garden tidying and then tackle more pressing matters - the ironing mountain - this afternoon.
I shall treat myself to steak and chips for dinner this evening.

Good morning from a brightening but colder northwest coast.
I enjoyed yesterday, picking up a few bits and pieces at the autumn fair, home baked goods etc. I then had lunch in the park cafe. Chips so hard I couldn’t even get a fork into them.
Too many dogs too. Bought pansies to pot up today.

Tonight I join a friend at an open mic. I’m not singing, but she will. I’ll get the pleather trousers out. I haven’t been to this venue before and I might get some exercise if I have a bop. Good thing too, I’m too static these days.

Good morning from Cambridgeshire where it is forecast a wet day. Today our decorating continues one bedroom done and the next one starting today. I am the chief tea/coffee maker and clear up person. In between my duties I’m going to make the Hairy Bikers mince and tumble spud pie for dinner. We also have a very good Artisan bakery albeit very expensive and I will pop by for a fresh loaf for lunch. They do very delicious cheese straws and chocolate and hazelnut brownies…. The tempting treats are endless. Hope you enjoy your treats karmalady

Good morning from a cloudy W Kent. Quiet day today, we had a lovely visit from DD2 yesterday and caught up.
A bit of cake making later and I am rereading some of my Mary Stewart books after many years. The chapters are very long compared to most modern books.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 9° and wet. It looks like it's on for a while. GrandMattie I think it's cheeky to leave all the dirty tea towels for you to clean.
Yesterday I enjoyed my catch up with my friend and her daughter as well as breakfast. I also got most of the housework and washing done too, which pleased me.
Today I'll have to get food in. The hordes (dgs1 and dgs2) will be here tomorrow and shopping with them in town would not be without incident! So I'll stir my stumps soon and head to Aldi. Later I have a small ironing to do. I wish I could be like Samantha in 'Bewitched' and wriggle my nose and it would be done. Mentally I feel better than I have for a while but my feet are extremely painful so back to regular painkillers it is. I would have done a little weeding today but I think the rain is on for the day. Dinner might be gammon or steak pie, I can't decide. Have a good day all.
