I can't find what I want at a reasonable price either ...and sadly, if i do find something (as I'm rather
plump) it's invariably too small!

I found some stunning outfits this autumn as it happens and the prices may indeed be reasonable but they are nevertheless out of my reach.

Barrel leg trousers are evidently perfect for those with wider hips and thighs.
The extra room in the hip and thigh area of barrel jeans is perfect for those with athletic builds or pear shapes.
I actually bought a pair because I thought there’d be more room for my fleece lined thermal tights.

I’m short with a long body and short legs , the new wide leg trousers do not look good on me at all ! So I’m sticking to my straight leg trousers and jeans . Hate the short tops too so probably will buy nowt this winter. I really don’t need anything anyway. I will try and be spurned on to alter a few items in my already bulging wardrobe!

Whilst music and art are very important in my life, and I am very aware of colours and what I like and dont like, I made a choice years ago, that whatever money I could save and work for , would go on experiences and travel. Therefore I took myself out of the fashion latest situation, whilst still being aware of what was around. My efforts were to notice what was the colour this year, or shape or whatever and then thing, which of my things might be something like that. They were kept to go out in to any meetings or parties or whatever and that was all. Have had a few great things from charity shops, notably my wonderful sky blue shirtwaister silk blouse, which has been used for years now, teamed with black velvet trousers for evenings or whatever I thought went well with it. Occasionally I would find that whatever I was wearing happened to be the latest fashion and would be asked where I bought it and how long ago. Usually the answer was about 5 years before and from a charity shop!! But live long enough and what goes around comes around. I once had a rich purple jumpsuit, sleeveless but with some diamonte on it. I had copper hair then and it looked quite good when singing in somewhere like a nightclub. However the downside was the hassle of having to more or less strip to go to the loo, so have no envy of the women wearing it now, but perhaps they have been made with velcro openers or whatever. We are all different and I have a very good friend who is always dressed very well and appropriately and looks so smart whenever you meet her, morning, noon or night! I always feel a scruff when we meet, whatever I am wearing, but for her underneath she is quite shy. So for her the right clothing and looking at herself in the mirror without a hair out of place makes her feel more comfortable. What ever floats your boat, so I shall still breeze on travelling in my unfashionable but comfortable clothes . so long as they are clean and I am clean, that is all I ask.

If everyone followed the fashion there'd be no individuality which I like to see. I know someone who follows the fashion trends religiously even if the style doesn't suit her even when it was the bare midriff trend. It wasn't a pretty look on the expanded waistline of a 50+ lady. She could look stunning if she didn't follow the herd.

Gosh yes. 50+ overweight lady, wearing those leggings or jeggings. Not a good look.

You mean it’s fine if you slosh your cuppa all over yourself as the stains won’t show on grungey colours?🤭

NotSpaghetti I completely got what you were saying.Some years I love the colours and styles and sometimes not, this Autumn and Winter it’s in the ‘not’ category for me.This is grudgingly ok tho as I’ll save money.

Autumnal colours for autumn provide camouflage as we go about our business. A government directive so that we don’t feel overpopulated. 😂

It has been suggested that knitwear manufacturers are saving money by flogging these shorter jumpers.
Perish the thought!
But in any case, what they might be saving on the body of the garment, they are surely spending more making unnaturally long prehensile sleeves!

No Oreo I have always liked grungy colours best, and tomato soup shows up on all colours,as does eggyolk 😗

Why are most jumpers shaped like a box? I don't want to wear something that as it's too short and boxy it looks as if its shrunk in the wash.

What bugs me a little is why are clothes priced the same regardless of the size? I've always been curious as to how this is justified for mass produced clothing when there is less fabric used for the smaller sizes. Is it simply greed and what they can get away with or am stupidly missing something?

Goes for all clothing even childrens.

The different between fabric used in different sizes is minimal.

In fact in the past shops used to charge more for larger sizes. Size 16 plus, but there was eventually a furore about bigger women being penalised for their size and it stopped.

You cannot have it both ways.

I wanted a long line cardigan with pockets a few weeks ago. Went to all my faves on line like Hobbs, Masai, Gudrun Sjoden etc and nothing. All very short stuff. Walked into Primark and for the second time in my life, bought something. A lovely biscuit coloured cardi, long with pockets for £17! It is warm and cozy and just what I wanted.

I think those wide legged trousers are dreadful. I saw Steph whatshername on TV wearing some and she looked a fright. Even worse are the wide legged trousers that stop at the ankles.
