Good morning everyone. Hoping for better news for dragonfly and the fgts2 today. What a beautiful jumper karma. You are very talented and must have loads of patience. Wishing everyone the best day they can have

Grandmabatty Wed 29-Oct-25 07:37:25

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 7° and a bit damp. Ashcombe a very happy anniversary to you both. Karma your knitting is so beautiful.
Yesterday was a busy day. As some of you know from Soops kitchen, my dgs2 fell of a tree at nursery and landed awkwardly. He has broken his elbow quite badly and may need surgery going forward. At the moment he's in a full arm cast. Dd brought him round to pick up his big brother and the wee soul was still doped up on morphine. He was determined to still go to his other grandparents for his usual Tuesday night sleepover though. His big brother was very upset to hear that his little brother had hurt himself.
Last night, I had the best sleep for a long time. Six hours without waking! Today I will go to the school library for an hour and let the nursery know how dgs2 is. They phoned me yesterday asking for him. Back home, I will potter about. I think I'll make chicken curry for dinner. Have a good day all.

Good morning all, North Leicestershire is wet and grey.

More batch cooking today after the cleaner has finished in the kitchen - poor planning!!

We had a lovely day with DD1 yesterday. She will be back at work in a couple of weeks now.

DD2 and Co are arriving tomorrow for an overnight stop on their way home from a visit to Blackpool - specifically the Tower Ballroom.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning from a damp Suffolk where rain is forecast for most of the day.

I am calling in to see a friend who wants to talk about a problem she is having with her DS and then I’m heading on to a business centre in Lowestoft so the laptop provided for my monthly meetings can be updated( or replaced) with Windows 11. I was horrified when I tried to log on last week to find that the machine had been disabled because of the new operating system. N9 notice given to me,and since I am a Luddite,I assumed I had done something to it.

Thinking of those with ill health problems, those on the move or making plans to do so.Karmalady like everyone else,I love the gansey, both the colour and intricate pattern and can imagine the pleasure and comfort it will give your DS.

A very late Good morning Mick and all GN's from a breezy but dry morning in North Yorkshire. I am so late that I can see the tree and everything in daylight today! Of course the day I want to be up early and basic things sorted and cleared away, I have slept later. Had a rubbish night last night, so not had more sleep really just different timing. I am expecting to get the bedroom curtain rail down and all the stuff replaced by the new rail etc., which is going to be rather a messy morning, and had planned to search for the gold velvetty looking curtains to replace them as well. Huh, best laid plans of mice and men. I actually did get quite a few things done yesterday. Namely went off on the yellow peril, on a very windy but sunny day yesterday, and managed to get a good amount of things sorted on the laptop with the Artie, the techi genius. Mostly very helpful and some things sorted well, but miffed to find that I cannot remove the wretched AI, which does not please me. However was pleased to find that several things I was aware of, but not sure about the correct way to deal with them, had been right. There was several messages about the cloud being overfull etc, which I was suspicious of, and sure enough , it was a phishing attempt, which we then sent to the phishing place to report it . So tick for that!

Then I went off for bits of shopping, attempted to replace my broken peppermill from a charity shop or two , but with no success. Went to the bank to query something, which was sorted and got a list of all my various DD and standing orders. November just coming up and having had to change banks as my last one closed , I am always aware of the opportunity for scams etc in the busy season in december. So a check up of what is being paid out and what I am committed to is, I think, a good idea to make sure that everything is up to date. So I then awarded myself a coffee at cafe Nero, and then came home to collect all my lovely dry washing before the weather changed.

Felt very weary , but pleased with my efforts being somewhat sucessful for a change, and spent some time putting things away and back in their place etc. Started the hunt for the other curtains but no joy, did a bit of housework, and later had some things to deal with on email etc. Then I decided that I had better start the shin beef casserole for today, as it is always better left a day, and I didnt know how much upheaval there will be sorting the curtain rail out etc. Plodded along getting it sorted and left it on a very low simmer, whilst I came for a much needed sit down and a coffee, and promptly fell asleep until about 11pm. Woke up and dashed into the kitchen hoping casserole had not burnt, and thank goodness it was fine , but I then was too weary to do much other than get washed and go to bed, leaving the chaos to sort today. Of course once I got to bed couldnt sleep!! So today it is restoring something like order to the kitchen, having another quick look for the other curtains and then hope that all goes well with the sorting out of rail etc. I must find my bulb bowls, as I still have not planted my hyacinths. It is not like me to drag my feet doing gardening things. Ah well we shall see what the day brings. If I can close some curtains easily tonight I shall feel I am winning! At least it is a dry and sunny looking morning, but probably quite cold, havent been outside yet.

Greyduster, sad about the loss of the tree, it is always a shame to lose one, but often it is not in your garden. My big tree outhere is quite close but actually the trunk is in a neighbouring garden so I have no input what happens to it, just enjoy it every day. Do hope your day improves as it goes along.Aldom hope all goes well with your move. Dragonfly hope you get better news from the hospital and they can find out the problem and help your husband. Hoping everyone has a good day and some success in whatever they are attempting to do.

Grandmabatty Wed 29-Oct-25 08:09:41

Dragonfly I am so sorry to hear that your dh is still so poorly. Poor man. And poor you too

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. I have slept in.

So sorry about your DH Dragonfly. I hope he recovers well in isolation.

As for your boy Grandmabatty ! I wonder if you have an adventurer once he's recovered.

Wednesday is yarn group and community lunch so quite restful.
The gansey is superb Karmalady. I wonder if that stretching device would be a suitable present for a knitting friend....

Have the best day you can everyone.

Grandmabatty Wed 29-Oct-25 08:31:39

Grammaretto he's actually quite cautious. The tree has been climbed loads and has beanbags strategically placed underneath. It was just one of those things.

BlueSapphire Wed 29-Oct-25 08:32:11

Good morning everyone from a grey and damp Northampton; pleased that I have nowhere to be today except for home.

Had a lovely.walk yesterday with the group in beautiful autumn weather.

Finished my cardigan yesterday, and just need to block it to shape; am very pleased that it seems to fit ok.
I now need to finish knitting a little stuffed Birman cat before I start on the new cardigan. I picked it up yesterday, and strangely, as I had not knitted for nearly a year, my fingers had forgotten their 'knitting memory'. It took several rows before my hands felt comfortable.

So, no plans for today except for reading the newspaper and knitting.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Happy anniversary Ashcombe enjoy your day
dragonfly thinking of you and your family

Marydoll Wed 29-Oct-25 08:35:23

Good morning all from a showery Glasgow, where it is 8°C.

Your poor wee grandson must be in awful pain, Grandmabatty.♥️

Happy anniversary, Ash,

What a talented lady you are Karma.

Yesterday, after doing the shopping. DH and I managed to have our postponed lunch in our favourite chippie. We got parked, because I was driving.😉 It was delicious!
I sent him to drop off some bags in the charity shop, while I popped into Hobbycraft for thread. The Gütermann stand had been replenished from a few weeks ago, I was like a child in a sweet shop!
I found the Nativity globe, I was searching for, but just like the same one at Silverburn, one of the Wise Men was missing. I suspect his star sat nav was faulty.

Of course I overdid it and dozed off, without emptying thebags. The original Feast ice lollies, which I had craved all summer, but couldn't find,, despite being in a freezer bag not any old frrezer bag, but a M&S bag were a liquid mess.😭

It was only later that I remembered the Parish Council was on and dragged myself out. I do not like driving in the dark and was blinded by oncoming traffic on very busy roads.

A day of rest is planned. My stomach problems have
flared up again, ( I was fearful of another incident yesterday) my cough is not improving and I'm still suffering the after effects of my vaccinations. It is all so frustrating,
DH said he realised yesterday how slow and old I had become. 😪
I have an injection delivery today ( I've just remembered), so I need to get up and have my sharps box ready to exchange for a new one,
It is all very slick,

Aldom, I hope today all goes well and your DH shows some sign of improvement, Dragonfly.💐

I have been wondering how Granny Somerset is after her hospital visit. 💕

Have the best day possible.

BlueSapphire Wed 29-Oct-25 08:45:55

Lovely knitting karma.

Happy anniversary Ash.

ginny Wed 29-Oct-25 08:47:10

Good morning from a wet and dull N. Bucks.
DH is a bit grumpy as his golf has been called off so I’m sending him out to buy some new badminton shoes, he plays each week.
I have just put the Christmas cake in the oven so must set an alarm to make sure I don’t forget it !
Several odd jobs and bits and bobs to sort this morning .
This afternoon is Craft club and we shall be making decorations for our tree at the local tree festival. It will be a busy session.
Some good and bad news from those with health issues , their own or family. Sending healing thoughts and wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

Blossoming Wed 29-Oct-25 08:52:22

Good morning from cloudy dry Lancashire. No walk this morning, MrB is at the dentist for prep work to have a crown fitted. It’s an hour long appointment so he may not feel like doing much when he gets back!
Happy Anniversary Ashcombe and Olddudders, great photo 😊

Blossoming Wed 29-Oct-25 08:55:50

I hope there’s better news for you today Dragonfly. I’m glad your son is with you x

Morning everyone from South Lanarkshire. I was really sorry to read about your wee grandson’s fall Grandmabatty, I hope he is over the fright.
Thinking about your husband Dragonfly, and you.

Big move Aldom, I hope it goes well.

Happy picture Ashcombe!
I hope your appointment went well yesterday GrannySomerset

Spending the afternoon with friends today and then we will all be there when our friend’s coffin is taken to the church this evening which is still the tradition in these parts, and tomorrow will be her funeral.

Good wishes to all for a good day.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 29-Oct-25 09:01:33

Oh Grandmabatty you poor little GS, boys will be boys.

Happy Anniversary Ashcombe I hope you and OldDudders have an enjoyable day 🥂🍾

aggie Wed 29-Oct-25 09:08:03

Another sunny but chilly good morning from Co Armagh!
I found more washing that needs freshening , it’s got to the spinning stage , so I’ll get it hung out before I trot off to our seniors club , I’m trying to remember what we are doing today , it might be a card game
I go regardless , it’s usually fun , we are lucky to have over twenty members aged between 40 and 90+
The best bit is the chat before the activity
Last week was a local artist giving us a talk about 18th and early 19th century stuff , we had a go , drawing round shapes an colouring them in

aggie Wed 29-Oct-25 09:08:51

Thinking of all the poorly and fed up , xx

Kalu Wed 29-Oct-25 09:17:46

Good morning all. A wet and windy again start to the day in Glasgow but the rain has stopped and the sun has appeared.

I took up an invitation to a Prosecco and shortbread evening at a local ladies clothes shop last night. No purchases made, I passed on the Prosecco, can’t stand the stuff but enjoyed the shortbread and company. Laughs and blethering were a good tonic. I awoke this morning with pain levels at 8, reached for pain relief meds and gritted my teeth until they kicked in. Onwards and sideways yet again.

Hoping you have signs of your DH recovering soon Dragonfly. A very difficult time for you and yours. Look after yourself too.

My best to all for a decent day or at least a brighter one for those of you struggling through.

Stilllearning Wed 29-Oct-25 09:28:36

I meant to add that Ekwanimitee is fine and will be posting again soon x
