Just saw my first store Christmas advert. The Grinch at Asda.
Anyone seen any others yet?

I feel really irritated by the Asda one. A man with a green face whinging about prices. I like the Amazon with the three pensioners sledging.

The Tesco one reminds me of everything I hate about christmas family gatherings - annoying kids, arguments, too much food and drink.

The man with the green face is The Grinch, the main character in a book of the same name by Dr.Suess.

He is extremely popular with children, the film is a firm favourite with our GC and their friends. It actually has a very good message regarding bullying and being kind to those who are different.

They would be a very unlikely couple!

Have you not heard the saying "He laughed her into bed"?
😂

Well, I love Kevin the carrot. I think it's very clever what Aldi gets him up to every year.

ASDA's Grinch is foul! When I was in the local store last week the damned thing was everywhere. It's so ugly and menacing that there is nothing 'Christmassy' about it.

I agree.
The best Christmas ad imo was the JL one from a few years ago with the neurodiverse little dragon🥰

The Waitrose one is brilliant. Almost 4 minutes long!

Well, I’ve seen it once, and that was enough.

Keira Knightley wouldn’t be falling in love with matey-with-the-beard, even if he can bake a pie using, I assume, Waitrose ingredients.

I shall nip off and make my cocoa if it comes up again.

The ad with Joe Wilkinson? Just caught a couple of seconds of it last night, so will have to wait and see the whole thing.😁

Just to say Joe Wilkinson was in The Cockfields, excellent series with Sue Johnson amongst other good actors .
Hardly a heartthrob though.
Perhaps that is the theme, cook with Waitrose ingredients and you will get the girl.

Yes, I thought I recognised him from The Cockfields.

Definitely not a heartthrob though, which is why it was rather daft.

It was just tooo long though, it would fill up a whole advert break on its own.

A way to a girl's heart is through cooking with Waitrose ingredients, Calendargirl!

Waitrose definitely my favourite. Asda and the Grinch have the feelgood factor but Aldi you have let me down. Kevin the Carrot getting married? Totally wrong he should stay a mischievous singleton.

I like the Tesco one,it's all expected to be happy and jolly when in reality it's not always like that

The waitrose one was long, obvious and dull I thought (assuming you mean the one that starts at the cheese counter).

Dottydots Fri 14-Nov-25 12:10:52

I didnt find the John Lewis one at all Christmasy. Very boring.

I'm missing out. I haven't seen any Christmas adverts yet and they are the only adverts I like.

Google the shop you want and they’ll come up with this year’s Christmas ad. No need to watch TV.

I like it as well. I think it is meant to be a bit ‘ tongue in cheek’.

It's horrible!

The Tesco advert is unpleasant too. Well, there is more than one Tesco advert, none I've liked so far .

West kinds of minds thinks these up and thinks they might encourage us to shop in their stores?

I don’t like grotesque imagery related to Christmas. I like cute fairies, robins etc.
this where The BBC with no commercials comes into it’s own. Adverts used to be fun with catchy tunes. Not no more.
Roll on The Little Snowman I say. My favourite 😻

Another fan of the Waitrose Advert.

matey with the beard is the comedian Joe Wilkinson, who was in the Waitrose Christmas Ad last year (the whodunnit, the missing desert)

Just seen the authentic John Lewis Ad - one for the boys this year, rather emotional 🥲

But does that mean John Lewis has gone retro and is selling vinyl now?
🤔

Mushy but not witty.

Vinyl sales have been increasing for a few years now, nothing retro about a vinyl record.

NotSpaghetti Fri 14-Nov-25 09:30:12

Please could I ask if people are able, could they please link to the one they are talking about?

Sometimes companies make several and it's nice to know which one posters mean.

I don't really see many adverts to be honest and had to go away and search to find many of these talked about.

Thank you.
