It’s a gloomy day, but this brought a huge smile to my face! I’m so pleased for him, well done Sir David Beckham.

As for cameras pointing at them every time they leave the house. They have courted publicity over the years, even making their children famous. He probably does deserve his knighthood but saying it was unexpected after throwing his toys out of the pram is laughable.

'Staying together?' Whoopee!

But oh, Victoria - Surely your husband receiving a knighthood would be reason enough to break into a proper smile... just for once?

To me Victoria looks like a stick insect chewing a wasp, not attractive at all.
As a couple I do give them credit for their achievements and staying together

And you're an Adonis, are you?
😂😂😂

Another round of Empire “honours” when will people see these are worthless that the empire is long gone
Just another way of cementing class division .

Nothing to do with class is it!!

Otherwise they would only be awarded to those who are already the elite. If you took the trouble to find out about the people who are awarded these honours, it might enlighten you.

We know people who have been awarded Empire medals, well-deserved and they are/were proud (but modest to) to have their achievements recognised.

I'm not sure about knighthood etc handed out to pop stars for contributions to music but this knighthood was for David Beckhsm's charity work.

Aveline Wed 05-Nov-25 10:08:44

I know so many people who have quietly done so much more good across their lives and whose huge contributions will go unnoticed and they do, and continue to do it, not in expectation of any reward.
eg a person I know who goes each evening to set out beds for homeless people in a local church hall, two ladies I know who go out with home made soup for homeless people at night, litter pickers who try to keep our city loking neat, endless people on boring committees who keep the wheels of various charities rolling etc etc.
I know how to nominate people for awards but its more complex than just sending in a form. The forms are allocated to different committees who decides who gets what. The lowest form is a British Empire medal (an out of date term) . The also rans who miss out on an award might be invited to a Royal Garden party. Thats something I suppose.
Just dont expect me to clap for David Beckham.

Well David49, that’s just the kind of unkind, unnecessary comment guaranteed to make Victoria smile 🙈. No wonder she, like many women in the public eye developed an eating disorder

I totally agree with your post Iam64.
I am happy for Beckham. I liked him when he queued for hours for the Queen's lying in state.

Anniebach Wed 05-Nov-25 09:32:43

Class diversion Paddyanne , rubbish .

I am happy for him

Why can't we just enjoy the achievements of one of our own? He's proud to be British and has done a lot of good things in his life.

🌞👏

GrannyGravy13 Wed 05-Nov-25 08:29:02

David49 have you ever been in the position of having cameras pointed at you every time you leave the house?

I doubt you would smile and wave at them all…

GrannyGravy13 Wed 05-Nov-25 08:27:54

Aveline

What's he done? All those tattoos make him look dirty then when he speaks in his silly little voice...
I get that he used to play football but now he's just a self promoting 'sleb'.

Aveline what has Sir David ever done to upset you?

Dirty tattoos

Silly voice

Self promoting celeb

Maybe do a bit of research and find out what he has actually done in his life.

As for dirty looking tattoos, we are a quarter into the 21st century, they are not just for sailors…

How about if you’ve got nothing nice to say, then don’t say anything at all.

Totally agree with your post Paddyanne

Kate1949 Tue 04-Nov-25 23:23:00

I neither like nor dislike them. I have never met them so I wouldn't know. I just thought the emails were unpleasant and childish. 'They've got one and I haven't and I've done more than them'.

henetha Tue 04-Nov-25 23:05:55

I like the Beckhams and am well chuffed that he got his knighthood at last.
Sour, miserable, envious people are best ignored.

Flippin2 Tue 04-Nov-25 22:52:34

I'm not a fan,yes he does charity work but so do many others,to stand there and say I didn't expect this, well no after your reaction when you didn't receive a knighthood I bet you didn't but there you go...

Deedaa Tue 04-Nov-25 21:23:07

A friend of mine worked for the Beckhams when they had their place in France. He had no interest in football, and even less in celebrity, so was certainly not star struck but said that he always found them very nice people. He said Victoria's main interest was her children.

Aveline, what a sad negative cynical response to a great sportsman who has done so much

Casdon Tue 04-Nov-25 21:13:38

I think that is unfair Aveline. He uses his fame to promote the charities he works with, which benefits them. They want celebrities, it brings in more money for them, he doesn't need to do it to raise his profile.

Aveline Tue 04-Nov-25 21:03:39

Allira charity work self promotion. See previous post re his response to not being awarded a knighthood before. Not the behaviour of an absolute gentleman

Iam64 Tue 04-Nov-25 20:38:13

Similar thoughts from me FGT. she has a loveky smile but maintains her public persona.

I dint watch but one of my girls watched the recent Netflix on the Beckhams and I’ve read summaries, she’s very open about developing an eating disorder and stopping smiling after awful stuff from the press

They’ve done well to maintain their family
