It’s a gloomy day, but this brought a huge smile to my face! I’m so pleased for him, well done Sir David Beckham.

Yes good news in the midst of gloomy weather and news

I was amused to read that Victoria had "made his suit".
She might have designed it but I doubt she has ever spent much time on a sewing machine

It looked as if The King and Sir David had a nice friendly chat after he received his Knighthood.

This would have seemed highly unlikely back when he got sent off in the 1998 World Cup & England were knocked out by Argentina!

He's redeemed himself over & over since then, Sir David now, that's great.

I'm happy for him ....I remember seeing him When he queued to pay his respects to the queen when she died ...he was lovely

Nice to see him with his proud parents.

I can never forgive him for his support of Qatars World cup bid.
Thousands of workers died building all the infrastructure.
No compensation, not even an acknowledgement to the families.

And I did think Lady Victoria (how weird does that sound?!) looked elegant and understated.

I know their "in your face celeb" lifestyle comes in for a fair amount of criticism, but he does a lot of charitable work and was a key player in getting the Olympics to London, so fair play to him.

What's he done? All those tattoos make him look dirty then when he speaks in his silly little voice...
I get that he used to play football but now he's just a self promoting 'sleb'.

Well deserved - an absolute gentleman.

Kate1949 Tue 04-Nov-25 18:45:27

I went off him when his emails were leaked when he was overlooked previously. He called the Honours Committee unappreciative c****s. Nice. A sign of someone who only does charitable things to get recognition.

Well deserved - an absolute gentleman.

And a great footballer when playing for the best Manchester team. Yes yes I know it’s not been the same since sir Alex left

Beckham is a likeable chap and I don’t begrudge him this honour one bit, but since Khan got his knighthood I think the accolade has somewhat lost its meaning. 🤷‍♀️

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 04-Nov-25 18:50:14

Definitely Iam - The Class of ‘92! ⚽️

Aveline Tue 04-Nov-25 18:50:34

If you get knighthoods for being absolute gentlemen then I could nominate a few.

JaneJudge Tue 04-Nov-25 18:57:39

Congratulations to the former footballer David on his contributions to football

Kate1949 Tue 04-Nov-25 18:57:56

Me too Aveline. My husband for one. He donated his bone marrow to a stranger in another country to try to save her life. Give that man a gong.

The majority of honours are awarded to people nominated by the public.

You just have to download the form!

I agree. Probably the best Manchester team but not the best England team .

Well deserved for his charity work.

Yes, the public can nominate people whom they think deserve an honour but it doesn't mean they will ever receive one.

Allira Tue 04-Nov-25 19:32:45

Who.

His charity work Aveline.

He can't help his voice.

She’s Lady Beckham not Lady Victoria as she’s not the daughter of an earl. The title is her husband’s .

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 04-Nov-25 20:07:22

But oh, Victoria - Surely your husband receiving a knighthood would be reason enough to break into a proper smile... just for once?
