What’s up with these people

The 2 people concerned are Brooklyn Beckham & now Adam peaty. Both totally have no regards for their family.
Brooklyn & Nicola don’t seem to want anything to do with his parents, Adam peaty doesn’t want his mum at his wedding.
Both men appeared to be very close with their mothers before there partners came on the scene. Can’t think for life of me that Victoria & Adam’s mum have done anything wrong except bringing them up & having a good relationship with them

How is this being rammed down anyone's throat? I read, watch and listen to the News, and have no idea about the Adam Peaty situation, and am only vaguely aware that the Beckhams don't get on with their DIL - probably because I've seen thread titles on places like MN, which I am at liberty to ignore.

If people read celebrity news they will find out, but nobody is forcing them to do that, any more than anyone has to watch TV programmes they don't enjoy or use language patterns that irritate them. I think people often seem to enjoy getting annoyed.

It's the latest fashion only because Brooklyn Beckham and Adam Peaty enjoy the over privedged cult of celebrity we know about it
I know so many women ,who are estranged from their children and agonise over it .
I wonder if social media has popularised it .

It sure has! It’s also popularised the notion of toxic relatives, and often for very minor transgressions on the part of some parent or grandparent.

Doodledog same here.

I had, of course, heard of Adam Peaty, Olympic champion swimmer (and local hero), and watched him too, but not heard of any of this except on Gransnet, that hotbed of gossip 😁.

a high profile shouty chef Yes, that's how we see him but is that just his TV persona? DD, who came across him through work, said he was a very kind man.

I did read somewhere on the wedding dance for the newly weds to start, Victoria jumped in danced with the son.
Bride was in tears. I expect you could find the article online.

I read that too....
But it's all become ridiculous now.
They should all meet up in a neutral place and have a conversation instead of all these leaks to the media.

Maybe Brooklyn wanted out of 'Brooklyn Brand' and wasn't strong enough (definitely not skilled enough) to leave by himself.
Perhaps he thinks his marriage will give him an identity outside the family....so far, he is still showing no talent.
He need to go to college and learn a trade/skill....perhaps.

Maybe the papers should stop reporting on these private family matters.

The family should keep their private business off social media. I don’t understand this attention-seeking world sometimes.

Without social media these people wouldn’t be relevant
Social media is the life blood of their businesses.

Hen parties are supposed to be where the bride lets her hair down mostly with friends. I’m not sure why lately there is a trend of MILs or even mums attending or expecting to. I find it strange tbh. It never occurred to me to intrude on my DIL’s hen do, and we have a great relationship.

Totally agree!

As for celebrity family fallouts, I was told never wash your dirty linen in public.

Really tired of seeing headlines about the petty squabbles of the rich and famous. Why can't they put all that negative energy into something positive and helpful at Christmas.

Some people take offence very easily. Before my sons wedding he told me my outfit was not smart enough as a lot of his wife's family were well connected. I had to get a new dress and my other dil in law was very offended as she had helped me choose the first outfit.
She has never got over it and actually refused to speak to the brides sisters at the reception.

Brooklyn and Adam will be glad to return to their mothers for support if and when their marriages both go pear shaped.

I assume/hope the Beckham family are taking advice on how to proceed.
Possibly, just to sit it out and hope he comes back.
