Just a shout out to say what an amazing thing Sara is doing for BBC Children in Need, an ultra marathon from the Scottish Borders, over the Pennines and Dales to Pudsey in Yorkshire. The weather is atrocious, but she is battling on, now on Day 3. She has already raised over £1m from Radio 2 listeners donations. How many people could do such a physically and mentally challenging feat, at 50, well done her.

Why an amazing lady! I looked her up.

Children in Need fund so many, many vital services, in a time of long term cutbacks.

A partiuclar area of interest I have is the dire situation of waiting lists for emotional and Mental Health support, so to read this - well, so important?

"We are currently funding 1,308 projects supporting children and young people across the UK with their emotional wellbeing and mental health"

I have been following Sara, it takes true grit, both mentally and physically to take on this challenge.

BBC Radio 2 DJ’s always astound me with their Pudsey fund raising challenges.

Go Sara 🏃‍♀️‍➡️🏃‍♀️‍➡️🏃‍♀️‍➡️

She’s doing so well, following online and listening, R2 always on in this house.

Ah, now, love her on R2 but some of the presenters....

PS - anyone else found R3 Unwind yet? Lovely chilling classics and other bits and bobs so soothing.

She made it to Durham yesterday in the dark, in pouring rain. I’m pleased to see money is pouring in too! Well done Sara.

Amazing feat - what a woman!

She's really suffering poor thing. Remarkable that she's still able to continue. Body is hurting and she clearly has a horrible cold.

I hope she makes it.

Is a gruelling task, her feet must be raw with blisters. Well done her for taking this on.

Purplepixie Wed 12-Nov-25 12:55:17

She is amazing! I wish her all the best!

TillyTrotter Wed 12-Nov-25 12:55:35

Sara C like many other radio and TV presenters before her is doing her bit for Charity and is surely battling the elements and her cold (which she had before she started out).
I’m sure adrenaline will keep her going to the end, and then she can have a long soak in a warm bath and a hot toddy.
She deserves it.
Go Sara!

Have just enjoyed reading Sara's book 'Till the cows come home'
This is such a tough challenge and she's doing brilliantly.
Well done Sara, you can do it!

Many good causes, there is a website, you can apply for funding if there is something you have a particular interest in, maybe you volunteer at.

I applied and was granted funding from CIN to buy toys and games for children waiting at court to give evidence, there was a comprehensive application process and it made such a difference to worried and nervous children to have some diversion from just sitting waiting.
I can’t thank them enough

I got quite a lot of money to start a childcare facility for mothers to use when returning to education. It was a very deprived area and it meant women with preschool age children could improve their qualifications. The funding process was pretty straightforward and I got a reply quite quickly.

The accounts are readily available on Companies House website for you to look at.

I don't usually follow CIN but Sara Cox has really caught my attention. She is suffering so much I was sure she would give up this morning but she has battled on.

Now how did I know you would be likely to say something like this.
Just a good guess I suppose.

Sara is going to suffer for weeks after this, with blistered feet that could become infected and aching, stiff muscles.
Well done her 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Casdon Thu 13-Nov-25 19:02:08

She described her feet as like those foam shrimps we ate as children, every step must be agony now. I just saw in one paper that she has now raised £3m, which is amazing, she’s really taking the public with her. Only one day to go once she gets in tonight.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 13-Nov-25 19:12:49

I am so in awe of Sara, what she is doing along with awful weather is so hard 👏👏👏

I have only run half marathons and 5K’s and they were hard enough.

foxie48 Thu 13-Nov-25 19:22:41

I watched Sara take an ice cold bath after her run yesterday, she's one tough woman and I have huge respect for her. My daughter was a medic on the Marathon de Sable ultra marathon in Cappadocia earlier this year and there was a young man who had lost both his legs in an accident competing on crutches. The terrain was really difficult and the course was long, run over several days. She sent me a video of him crossing the finishing line and I cried. I am in awe of what some people can do, it is very humbling.
