Good morning from Bristol. It’s supposed to be around 4C but the flat is warm enough for me to pad around barefoot. It will most likely be quite different when I leave my snug bed!
Yesterday was rather funny. When I got to church, I was told that the heating was broken, but as I was quite warm from my walk there, I took my coat off and snuggled under my beautiful shawl, as usual. When it came to the Peace, the vicar announced he’d shake as many hans as possible to check who had the warmest hands. To my amusement, when he went back to the chancel, he announced that “Mattie has the warmest hands”! Ripple of laughter through the congregation. What astonished me most is that my hands get cold very easily, and my fingers normally go white.
I had a cuppa in the afternoon with my upstairs neighbour. I haven’t seen her for ages, so we had a good chinwag.
Today is the start of an incredibly busy and tiring week. Tesco in the morning, then barely time for lunch, then off to WI to set up. More time will be spent tidying up afterwards.
I hope this week brings gentle contentment to all. Special thoughts to fgt and all those with difficulties. 💐

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 0° and dry. I've no idea what the weather will be later. GrandMattie don't overdo things.
Yesterday was very nice. We had a lovely catch up as a family. My aunt and uncle took me and dd brought me home to save my leg. Ds met us at the café. The food was lovely but very very slow in coming. I don't think we'll use it again. The rest of the day, I did more housework and washed all the floors.
Today is early childcare day. Once I've dropped off the boys at school and done an hour in the library, I'll head home for a nap. I have a couple of deliveries due today. I'm getting organised for Christmas. Have a good day all

Morning Mick, morning All. A dry, bright if cold day ahead to travel home to Somerset from Berkshire.

We’ve had a thoroughly good time with old friends, mostly talking and eating as the time flew past. A pre Christmas treat at a hotel mid way between our homes. There will be a stop off in Wiltshire on the way to meet with another long term friend where the coffee will get cold as we catch up.

Best wishes to all. Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning from s somerset, sunny and cold today

GM you worry me, you are too hectic

A lovely quiet day yesterday, just getting on with knitting socks and a bit of cooking

Similar today with added craft group for a couple of hours

Have a good day

Good morning Mick and early birds from another dry day in north Wales where I’m definitely feeling chirpier with the 🌞- hope you all have some today before the 🥶 arrives!

Safe travels home to all those returning from breaks and catchups, lovely to do meet-ups before Christmas 🤗 and hope things go well on the medical front for so many on this thread 🤞

A trot to Asda this morning for my big shop as I put the max on their savings card last week which means I qualify for an extra £15…that’s my gin treat sorted 😋

Have a good day x

Good morning from a very wet north yorkshire.
Apart from quickly shutting my bedroom window i haven't looked outside as it's still pitch dark. The rain is beating down but the forecast is sunny but chilly today, perfect. I will do some much needed gardening, mostly tidying and dealing with fallen leaves. I've got a lovely maturish silver birch at the bottom of the garden but does it shed... the price to pay for that lovely tree in the summer months and almost even better when the starkly patterned branches and beautiful bark show so well in winter.
I simplified my sloping garden 2 years ago and re-designed it totally from big borders and lawn into terraces covered in gravel with beds i made from lovely old bricks i rescued from a cottage down the road which got knocked down.
That's a bit of a convoluted sentence and a half!
But quite looking forward to spending some time out there again, it's been sorely neglected this year.
Wishing you all a good monday.

I had trouble posting this as the red Preview button works perfectly but the Post button is unresponsive...is it my phone or does anybody else find this??

I’m very touched by your concern, but don’t worry about me please, pant. If I’m too tired I just say no, or delegate. Sadly, this week has several very important meetings including two from the management of our complex, one is the budget meeting. Unfortunately unmissable.

Good Morning from Durham. Little Dog needed to be out through the night, so it’s been a restless one for me since. It’s wet outside and the heating has come on.
Back to normal today after having DD2 and DGS2 staying - he’s a whirlwind! However, coffee with a friend this morning, then home to some necessary housework and walk Little Dog before dark.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from a very chilly but dry hillside in south Glos, almost a frost at 3°.
After the usual chores I finished my painting of a peregrine, rather pleased with it so I will look for a nice frame and mount I think.
My good friend came along in the afternoon, she’s a very good artist and I value her help and advice. We enjoyed a good natter and a cup of tea.
Little else other than a lovely roast dinner, the lamb was absolutely perfectly cooked in the slow cooker and there’s plenty for another couple of meals.
Volunteering in the school garden this morning then more arty stuff later I think, I’m on a roll! I want to do a smaller version of the peregrine for my bird watching DGS1.
Take care everyone 🌹

Good morning from Malta where a sunny day with a high of 25°C is forecast.

I was woken at 4am by my son’s cat who is staying for a few days whilst they go abroad. Poor thing is very nervous and not happy about being out of his familiar surroundings.

I managed to go back to sleep and have only just woken up to see a message from DD3 who is still unwell and needs me to pick the boys up from school at 1.30pm.

News from my Goddaughter is that her DH is home, very sore but on the mend. He’s to have at least two weeks off work.

I’m not sure what I will be doing today but am about to have my first cup of tea of the day which always tastes better than any other for some reason!

Take care all of you and have the best day you can.☀️

Sar53 Mon 17-Nov-25 06:49:05

Good morning from a dry but cold Essex coast.
S was discharged from hospital yesterday morning, feeling better but not 100%. She is due to have consultations with a plethora of different specialities to try and find some answers. She is nearly 17 but missing out on her teenage years and also college which she only started in September.
I have ironing, housework and club admin to do today. I know how to live.
Thinking of you all with mountains to climb. Have a good week, best wishes to all xx

Ashcombe Mon 17-Nov-25 06:54:43

Good morning from a very dry looking Torbay.

As the saying goes: “If you want anything done, ask a busy person!” That certainly seems to be the thinking with the folk grandMattie encounters!

Talking of poor service, Grandmabatty, we encountered exactly that at our favourite eating place yesterday where we were belatedly celebrating DH’s birthday. The food was as delicious as ever but the service less so, unfortunately. The place was busy but the staff seemed rather disorganised.

Today I have blood tests and a medication review with the practice nurse. I’ll be expected to use the health pod that measures height, weight and BP. It usually can't cope with my BP so I’ll take some home readings.

Hope this is the start of a good week especially for those going through tough times. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

brook2704 Mon 17-Nov-25 07:00:44

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a very cold start to the day
Sar, S is such a brave girl, what a tough time she’s having. I’m hoping things improve for her very soon ❤️
We had a really enjoyable short break away in Vienna, such a beautiful city and looking very festive at this time of year with the Christmas markets and street decorations. We’d definitely like to return one day maybe in the springtime. Today I’m having a day in, I need to make a start on getting organised for Christmas, write a few shopping lists, do the holiday washing and a bit of admin etc. DH will go out for some food shopping and we’ll make some warming soup later
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning all from a very cold North Leicestershire. Alexa tells me that the temperature is 2°.

I aim to attack Mount Everest first thing then I have a hair appointment - hope the salon is warmer than usual.

Have the best day possible everyone.

EkwaNimitee Mon 17-Nov-25 07:06:11

Good morning Mick and everyone from dry, dark Carlisle where it is currently 1°C.
Yesterday I went out for a dawn walk in the park, barely anyone about but a lot of very noisy birds presumably looking for breakfast. I then had a busy day finishing the ironing, then making myself a small Christmas cake...only I will be eating it...the house smelt wonderful. I'll give it a nice feed of rum shortly then store it away.
I'm off to the post shortly then it will be the usual laundry and housework this morning followed by admin and some writing and reading this afternoon.

Wishing you all a good day if possible.

BlueSapphire Mon 17-Nov-25 07:07:13

Good morning everyone from a still dark, dry and chilly Northampton.

It's been a lovely weekend for our family, with DGD's 18th birthday party on Saturday night, a wonderful time in the venue, a private bar/restaurant on the university campus. About 80 guests, mostly her school and dance friends, everyone dressed up, long dresses and smart suits. Lots of music and dancing - I do love a dance! A good time was had by all.
DD and her DH stayed here overnight afterwards, and we enjoyed bacon butties before they left yesterday morning, DD to her band practice, and her DH to collect their little dog and then home.

Yesterday was spent recovering....

Yoga this morning, then home, where I shall busy myself getting a beef hotpot into the slow cooker. Then a quiet afternoon of reading and knitting.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Susan56 Mon 17-Nov-25 07:15:44

Good morning from Shropshire where another dry day is forecast.

Today we are going to Llandudno to the Inspiration exhibition celebrating 200 years of the railways, one of DH’s interests.I am looking forward to a walk along the prom and the pier.

Thinking of all with mountains to climb and wishing everyone the best day possible🌻🦩

Good morning from a chilly S E Essex.

Oh Sar53 poor S. it’s such a worry for you, I do hope that the specialists can find out the cause of her asthma flare ups, it is such a horrible disease.

I am off to the gym first thing, then I have an asthma check up at the GP. Dreading getting in the scales, as I feel as if I have put on a few pounds. I blame not having a kitchen, men in md the amount of hours I have spent in the local tea shop.

Redcar Mon 17-Nov-25 07:30:44

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s bright out and cold. Don’t know how cold because the weather station has stopped working, I’ll change the batteries and hope it works again. My bedroom window is steamed up so obviously cold out.
The revenge of the technology, the iPhone has stopped sending & receiving texts, but email is ok. It’s updating itself at 5he moment so fingers crossed that sorts it out!
A good day yesterday, despite being at my godmother’s bungalow, scattering her ashes in the garden. A chance to meet up with some old friends and reminisce about old times.

Will go for a walk this morning, then attack the ironing and do a little housework.

sar I do hope that the medics can help S fully recover and resume being a teenager at college!
bluesapphire that sounds a lovely birthday celebration for your DGD.
ash I hope your health review goes satisfactorily today.
Thinking of all those in pain and with worries of any kind.
Have the best day possible everyone and keep warm.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a chilly South Yorkshire - 4 degrees currently. We must have had a power cut at some point in the night. It must have been a fairly long one because the freezer, while everything was still frozen, did not look as frosty as it usually does.
I had a surprise visit from DD and SiL yesterday who came over to break the monotony of my weekend for a couple of hours. It was very welcome. They had bought me a new portable DAB radio for my birthday which I love, but while it would find every other station on the planet it wouldn’t find Classic FM. SiL fiddled with it for a while and then set up Glabal player on my phone. The radio will now access it from there, along with all the other music I have stored in my phone’s library. Job, as they say, is a good ‘un!
The plan today is to catch the tram into town and do some shopping and browsing.
Have the best day you can folks.

Thinking of fgt2 and himself this morning. Hope everything goes to plan

Jaxjacky Mon 17-Nov-25 07:46:55

Morning from a bright SHants, 5 feels like -2, not indoors though!
Craft fair yesterday morning, I just bought a card with hares on it for a friend, then a quick M&S collection, picked up my son before we all went to my daughter’s for a roast.
Meat draw success, MrJ chose a boneless pork shoulder joint, straight in the freezer for now,
Voluntary phone today, I’ll take my son to collect serviced car when it’s ready, an easy dinner then quiz.
I hope dragonfly has better news today and a positive appointment for FGT and himself.

Good morning from Wiltshire where it is just getting light. Apparently there should be sightings of a bright yellow spherical object in the sky later on, not seen for some time.

Did a lot of cooking over the weekend and we had some lovely meals. Watched the England v New Zealand rugby from Twickenham on Saturday which was fantastic. First well deserved win there for England against them since 2012.

School pickup today. They were great last week but not the week before. I will get them drawing and colouring reindeer.

I’m so sorry about your poor GD Sar53. So disruptive for her. I sincerely hope some answers are forthcoming. Perhaps they will look at her dna.

Have a good day everyone.
