Good morning to all the night owls
I m late waking this morning and seem to have missed my
3 am slot however 4.30 am will do ( 4 and a half hours is positively a very long sleep for me) who knows I might even drop of again for a doze before I get up at 6 ready for some work
So who s around ?
I'm wide awake after a good sleep but it's much too early! Hopefully I'll get another couple of hours. Bluebell sorry to hear about the cramp.
Four hours sleep. Why do I always read articles about getting eight hours sleep. I haven’t had that much for 25 years. Never mind we must just be glad to get a few.
Hope you all manage to drift off for a while. I remember doing the nighttime feeds many years ago and thinking I was the only person who was awake in the world. I could sleep in those days.
Awake now for the 3rd time.
I have a cold, not a bad one just a dripping nose but drinking more means even more bathroom visits, a vicious circle.
Hopefully out for lunch tomorrow so no afternoon nap..
Hope I can manage without one.
Bluebell instant cure for cramp a tablespoon of vinigar from a jar of gurkins odd but it works everytime for my DH apparently cider vinigar. also works bit he's never tried it !
2nd time of being awake tonight what fun.
I'll need to try that cramp cure rosie thanks.
I hope you got back to sleep BlueBelle and others.
I've been awake since about 3 but listened to the food chain on the world service. It was all about eating for cold weather, so i call it research.
I was wondering why I get so hungry in the evenings and ofcourse it's due to the cold.
I do sleep better after a big meal.
I got up an hour ago because I was wide awake and there was no point lying in bed. It's frustrating because I now have to wait another hour before I can actually do anything. The walls are thin and I don't want to disturb the neighbours.
I have just woken up after a good few hours' sleep. I was exhausted all day yesterday so that might be why. I'm still sleepy so hopefully I might get in a few more hours.
Blue Belle, to answer your question. My legs kind of tremble and jerk when the restless legs start up. It's not painful but it does prevent me from sleeping. Hope you are ok. x
Thanks for the tip Rosie I ve only got white vinegar in the house will that work? For the last few years I ve been very prone to cramp and it s never in normal places like calf etc where you can stretch it out it’s always down a bone usually the shin bone or the top of my foot really odd but you can t stretch it away
I ve tried herbal tablets and magnesium etc but not vinegar it’s awful if you are in a theatre, church or meeting or somewhere you can’t move much.
I ve got a daughter in law who has told me she gets restless legs fancyflowers I always imagined it was a feeling more than an actual happening isn’t it horrible I guess it’s a nerve thing Aren’t we funny id things us humans
Four hours sleep and now a new pain is bothering me.
I hope that it's just muscular.
Been awake since 430. As I’m used to it, it no longer bothers me.
When DH was alive, I used to lie there for what seemed hours then get up at 5. Bless him, he’d set the heating to start then. Now, I luxuriate in bed with book, hot drink…. Don’t half miss him though!
Sorry about the cramps and restless leg.
I’ve been told that’s magnetic and/or a bar of soap at the end of the bed is helpful. I know, i know, but sometimes old wives’ tales do work. No harm in trying.
Hello everyone. I’ve slept for an unheard of seven hours. Still feel exhausted but that’s normal. I think I’ll try your old wives tale remedy for cramp grandmattie, we both get it. Nothing to lose for sure.

I don't know about white vinigar but the gurkin one ccertainly works with DH he has always been prone to cramp a quick swig from the gurkin jar and it goes lol
Not an old age thing either he can be seen hopping about at the top table on our wedding video he was only 22
My friend used to eat a packet of salted crisps when she had cramp. She swore by them.
Rosie I have got some gherkins so I ll try it and report back as and when …I have had cramp over the years but very much worse now especially if you’re in the middle of a row at a theatre as I say in s not longer hitting me in the stretchy muscles areas but the bony areas that you can’t bend back and seems twice as painful but hey ho I m still here and for that I m grateful I ve heard about the soap before grandmatte but never tried it I ve got the sort of why/ how brain
Sorry about the new pains esme
Hope everyones colds and aches and pains dissipate and have a good day
I watch a lot of tennis and the players drink pickle juice to help prevent cramps so I think the gherkin vinegar would be something similar.
As to old wives’ tales, my aunt used to swear by having a cork in the bed to prevent cramp! I’ve never tried it.😂
Morning all I’ve had a good night for a change, I woke at 3am for around an hour then slept until 6.15. I felt exhausted yesterday so hoping to feel better today. Lots of Christmas present wrapping to do and ironing .
My slight cold has developed into a very bad cold so lunch out is cancelled and I’m staying in bed for a while.
If I doze off I expect this will affect my sleep pattern even
more.
I can do no more than go with the flow.
I’m early! Two hours sleep and I have woken up coughing. Took cough mixture and spilt some down my nightie so I had to fetch a clean one.
After an awful night last night I do hope I can go back to sleep.
On the positive side, I just got Wordle in 3 😉
Just heading to bed now. I do find my lack of feeling tired a bit annoying - it makes for hours of darkness during these months. Dog is up there before me, already fast asleep. Hope I get my usual 4 hours, but the sciatica is giving me problems again.
The moon a beautiful. I’ve just been in the garden with our dog, who decided she couldn’t wait. Hopefully I’ll soon be asleep again, but if not, I’ve got a good book.
Wide awake since 1.00, but I did go to bed early. Will read for a while longer then hopefully get a couple of hours sleep. Have drunk my hot drink, refilled my hot water bottle, made a to do list for the morning and a shopping list.
I started on the Chrisrmas cards yesterday, but need more stamps. Will this be the last year I send them? I received 2 yesterday, one of which is not on my list! And is not going back on it.
Right one more chapter then zzzzzz. I hope.
No sign of the moon here. I think I’ll make another drink, take a couple of painkillers and give sleeping a miss altogether.
At least I’ve reported a couple of old threads resurrected by spammers.
Good morning 3am crew I've been awake a while. First trip to the loo, now pondering whether to try and get back to dozing or listen to something with ear buds in, which can send me to sleep if I'm lucky. There was a beautiful moon in the evening, but I've just looked out of the window right now and it's no longer visible, gone to bed I guess
