Good morning to all the night owls
I m late waking this morning and seem to have missed my
3 am slot however 4.30 am will do ( 4 and a half hours is positively a very long sleep for me) who knows I might even drop of again for a doze before I get up at 6 ready for some work
So who s around ?

JamesandJon33 Mon 26-Jan-26 03:53:29

Back to the usual. Awake at just after 2. I ‘ve read for a while and shall try to go back to sleep in a while.

grandMattie Mon 26-Jan-26 05:02:48

I too have dry eyes, helter. In fact, my drops are the first thing I do as I surface.
Not especially good night as I have been dozing off and on since 2am. I absolutely refuse to “wake up” properly before at least 4 am. Fortunately, my bladder is well behaved so I rarely need to get up. If I did, that would be it for the night.
(*BlueBelle*), do we have permission to start a new thread if we are the last to post?)

BlueBelle Mon 26-Jan-26 05:58:54

Morning everyone I ve done the unthinkable and gone from 11.30 plus to 5.30 without s break !!! this thread must be magic for me
Hope everyone has a great day

Well done BlueBelle. Maybe sleep at our ages should be judged over a week not over a night. So some nights good some nights bad but over a week it averages out.

I am going to add up my hours over a week and compare by week and see if my theory holds out!!, if I remember.

BlueBelle Mon 26-Jan-26 07:33:42

The thing is HelterSkelter I learned not to worry about it and not to ‘try’ to go back to sleep
I suppose acceptance in all walks of life is helpful

Yesterday as it was dry I had a walk after church and a cafe lunch.
I'm trying to be more active.
I crashed out èarly in the evening and had a restless night .
My cough has calmed down IBS cramps woke me up !

JamesandJon33 Tue 27-Jan-26 03:40:43

I ‘ve been awake for ages. The wind is howling through the trees and I can even hear the sea. It’s a bit scary.

Gymstagran Tue 27-Jan-26 06:19:07

Woken by the rain and wind at 4.30. Hate the thought of having to go out in it. Maybe it will calm down later

BlueBelle Tue 27-Jan-26 06:52:06

I ve had another good night midnight to 5.30 solid more than enough for mr Off to work at 8 I can hear the wind whistling down the chimney. It looks very dark and dank outside
Have a good day everyone x

I fell asleep early yesterday evening and, even though I had to go to the loo several times woke up at 6 really refreshed for the first time in ages. However I took my iron tablets at @4 am and had the weirdest horrible dreams afterwards. Google said they don’t cause bad dreams but Reddit was filled with people saying they’ve had awful dreams afterwards taking iron tablets.

I’m wide awake, haven’t slept at all despite being tired.
It’s very quiet here, no lights in neighbouring houses, not raining, no stars visible at the moment.
I’ve had a hot drink, a digestive biscuit, read 18 pages of my book and now I’m getting bored……
Can’t go downstairs because it’ll disturb the dogs.
Ho hum…..<twiddling thumbs> 🤔

Mollygo Wed 28-Jan-26 01:41:39

DH just woke me up saying he thought he’s lost his car keys.
He hadn’t. He’d just not put them away. Now I’ve found them, I’m thoroughly awake!

Grammaretto Wed 28-Jan-26 02:02:32

I fell asleep but woke up and now is that wide awake in the middle of the night time.
Hello fellow insomniacs.

Esmay Wed 28-Jan-26 02:12:37

I'm been trying to improve my fitness levels just by doing gentle walks doing the day .
The Cough is better .
And now I've been awake since one !

HelterSkelter1 Wed 28-Jan-26 03:06:54

I hope you very early birds have all drifted back off.

I woke at 2.15 and have been lying here thinking. Just done Wordle and will now read.

All very quiet apart from tinnitus hiss. I can't hear any rain. I hope I will fall asleep reading.

JamesandJon33 Wed 28-Jan-26 04:32:44

HelterSkelter*. Awake since 2 and busy thinking out a next bit of writing. Then on to another piece of work I have to do. So realised I was going to be thinking for the next couple of hours. So stopped myself…played Patience on my kindle and now I shall read some GN posts. If I nod off in the middle that will be a bonus.

cornergran Wed 28-Jan-26 05:00:56

Been drifting in and out of sleep for a couple of hours. Wide awake now. Goodness it feels cold. We were forecast ice this morning, maybe it’s arrived, I don’t plan to get out of a warm bed to check smile. I’m so wide awake I must have had enough sleep. I’ll enjoy reading for a bit, may drop off again. We hope to get out for some breakfast this morning, something to look forward to. Hope everyone is comfortable if not asleep.

grandMattie Wed 28-Jan-26 05:19:27

Hello, I think I might stop posting. For some odd reason I’ve been sleeping better since starting in this thread. 5 hours uninterrupted sleep is great!
My days are not very exciting nor energetic, although I have recently tried not to nap after lunch. I still fall asleep in front of the tv. Thank goodness for catch-up in most programmes!
I trust most of you have had a few more 💤
And it’s official, menopause is one of the factors in dementia - as if we women didn’t have enough to contend with!

BlueBelle Wed 28-Jan-26 05:29:32

Morning all, another good night for me I think I m so much better since going to bed later. Midnight to 5 solid is lovely I manage very well on 5 plus hours (of course I nod off in front of the tv in the evening ) I used to go to bed 10 to 10.30 then was awake by 1 or 2 am

Was a nasty day yesterday dank, wet and a very cold wind hope it’s improved today.
Hope everyone here has a decent day

HelterSkelter1 Thu 29-Jan-26 04:08:48

Four o'clock not too bad. Almost 6 hours sleep. I have woken from a dream about a friend I lost touch with twenty years ago. I wonder if she ever dreams about me.
I will make a cup of tea and plan a window box which currently contains cyclamen which have done well but are straggly now.
I hope all other wideawakies are fast asleepies

BlueBelle Thu 29-Jan-26 04:12:35

4 am for me too helterskelter I m going to hunker down and do some sudukos just my hands to get cold 🤣
Hope everyone else is still snoring at least I ve missed the 3 am mental ‘call’

grandMattie Thu 29-Jan-26 05:07:45

You’re improving, BlueBelle! Me too, I seem to be having a bit of extra sleep 😴
Btw, I’m far too ladylike to snore! 🤩

Doodledog Thu 29-Jan-26 05:51:50

I’ve been snoozing on and off (day and night) for 36 hours. I have a fluey virus and went ‘for a lie down’ but am still there. It’s hard to know how much sleep I’ve had, but it’s going to be difficult to get a pattern going when I feel better. I plan to get up today and stay awake, even if I don’t do anything.

JamesandJon33 Thu 29-Jan-26 06:29:12

Hope you feel better soon*Doodledog*. I fell asleep yesterday morning after finishing the ironing. Just for a half hour. Strange that.

Esmay Thu 29-Jan-26 06:57:42

Yesterday was one of those days when I got nothing done except sorting out something for one of the church ladies .
It was so frustrating and thankless.
I dozed off watching an art programme but slept to six .
I drank caffeine free tea during the evening.
I think that my usual tea and hot chocolate keeps me awake .
