Good morning to all the night owls
I m late waking this morning and seem to have missed my
3 am slot however 4.30 am will do ( 4 and a half hours is positively a very long sleep for me) who knows I might even drop of again for a doze before I get up at 6 ready for some work
So who s around ?

HelterSkelter1 Mon 26-Jan-26 03:23:34

Yes it has been a comfort knowing I am not the only one sitting here wideawake at 3.19. I was having a strange dream so not too unhappy at waking up. My eyes feel very dry so I have put some dry eye drops in and that feels better.
A drink of water and now a read. I hope we all drift off again.

Just noticed as well that there’s only room for 27 more posts. Shows how welcome this thread has been.

Well I’m glad I’m awake tonight! The central heating has decided to change its timetable so it was still on at 02.35.
I woke up being unexpectedly warm and had to go and sort the thermostat.
Imagine the impact in the gas bill if I hadn’t.
If I don’t drop off again soon, I’m going to make a cup of tea.

Another good night. 9-6:14. With just two wanders to the bathroom, and straight back to sleep

BlueBelle Sun 25-Jan-26 05:30:24

Feel very refreshed went to bed about 11.30 and slept solid until nearly 5 so51/2 hours which is good night for me and I can manage well on that
My colds just about gone, so a week in total back to normal thank goodness Had a cold but bright day yesterday
The dark old nights will gradually, very gradually get shorter.

Doodledog Sun 25-Jan-26 02:59:04

I’ve been awake since 1.30. I did fall asleep early (about 10.45), but unless I nod off and then sleep all morning I will have another week of being shattered. I’m bored with it all. I do all the hot bath, milky drink, wind down rituals, although I do give in and pick up my phone after an hour or so of wakefulness.

We have a family member in hospital just now, so I need to be on call, and I’m so tired. My husband can sleep on demand, and I so envy him that ability.

MayBee70 Sun 25-Jan-26 00:59:01

I’m in a complete mess. Keep falling asleep in the evening, then awake all night. Take my iron tablets at 7 when the dog has her breakfast, then nod off again.

I thought that my body clock was normalising itself.
Today I drifted off to a restless sleep watching Jonathan Creek having got ready to go out .
I woke up at eightish.
I don't know what sort of a night I'll have.

Esmay Sat 24-Jan-26 10:21:48

Get Well soon Bluebell .
I don't think that there's such a thing as "just a cold " - colds always develop into a lingering nasty with me .
Do something nice for yourself today.

BlueBelle Sat 24-Jan-26 06:28:53

I ve had a poor week with a nasty cold ( usually get one a year) so didn’t go to work and have been sooooo bored it’s driven me crazy having to stay in. On the whole I m well used to living alone and don’t mind it at all in fact I don’t think I could live with anyone now but when you’re forced into your own company for a week it’s difficult
Feeling loads better now but what to do with myself !
Anyway I ve not had a bad night went to bed for 12 woke up at 5 so that ll do me
Have a great day everyone

HelterSkelter1 Sat 24-Jan-26 05:25:43

Not sure when I actually fell asleep but woke at 4.30 with a little read in the night. So not too bad. Likewise grandMattie there is no rhyme nor reason. Just hooray.
Have made a decaff coffee. Refilled Hotties and will Wordle then read.

I have only a few pages left of my own book and then will crack on with the library book which I am looking forward to reading. My own book is The Legacy of Spies by John Le Carre. I have to keep my wits about me to follow the plot, but it's a good read.

grandMattie Sat 24-Jan-26 05:10:21

Hello, hello. An unprecedented 7 hours! Yes, seven hours.

I’ve no idea why it’s happened, I wasn’t particularly tired, I didn’t have a complicated day, unlike Thursday. Must count my blessings.

JamesandJon33 Fri 23-Jan-26 06:08:09

Well I made it to 5:30, but with a 2 hour break in the middle.

Allsorts Fri 23-Jan-26 05:33:58

Been awake ages again. Prepared a slow cook stew, read tge papers on line and come on here.how dud our grandparents manage before tv and i pads?

cornergran Fri 23-Jan-26 05:28:19

Made a right hash of Wordle. Just couldn’t see it.

I also plan the day grandmattie, some days I struggle to fill others develop a life of their own, as yours did yesterday. I hope everything was sorted in the end. Next week looks scarily empty. We may emulsion a couple of walls in the kitchen - if we do I’ll be on skirting board duty and may live to regret both! grin.

HelterSkelter1 Fri 23-Jan-26 05:27:10

It's such a relief to get past 1.00.. Sometimes if I fall asleep early like 9.00 pm I wake at 11.30. That is so annoying as it often feels like 4.00 am. But if I go to bed much later I may not fall asleep at all and toss and turn all night.

Thank goodness I am retired.

Esmay Fri 23-Jan-26 05:19:29

Woke up at 4.30 having fallen asleep soon after supper .
At least I didn't wake up at one .
I've been trying to eat more regular meals and to exercise more .
One of my friends was widowed in August and she's going through the not sleeping syndrome .
I think that anything can trigger it .

HelterSkelter1 Fri 23-Jan-26 05:03:44

Hope everyone is fast asleep. Not too bad to have woken at 4.30. I did wake at 12.00, but drifted back off thank goodness.
Will read now. Am warm enough. Here in the south it is quite mild for January. And I have water so don't need to venture downstairs.
Maybe I will drift off while reading. It's very quiet. On Wednesday night someone was banging a car door for about 10 minutes. Goodness know why. Outside our house, as we are in the town, is a waiting spot for taxis/Ubers, but they are normally very quiet so I think it was more Joe Public. So thoughtless, but not thinking about anyone else is so common now.

grandMattie Fri 23-Jan-26 04:39:45

I used to think that, corner, until DH died. After that, I had too much time - so I would have been better off asleep!💤 so be it.

I think about and try to plan the (often empty) day ahead. Then the day doesn’t match your plans, like yesterday…

I had problems that needed a visit to the bank, which meant 2 hour# spent there, mostly waiting to be seen, waiting while yet another infant looked through everything. My neat day screwed…

cornergran Fri 23-Jan-26 04:32:59

Not sure why I’m awake as I’ve been doing so well. I’m an odd bod, in a way I don’t mind as it gives me some extra time to catch up with the news, read a bit, try Wordle and the like or maybe nod off again after an hour or so. Hope everyone is comfortable.

Grammaretto Fri 23-Jan-26 03:05:37

Hello 3am. At least I have been asleep.

Hope you are feeling better BlueBelle

Try again.....

BlueBelle Thu 22-Jan-26 05:52:08

Good night for me bed 11.30 slept till 1.30 then back to sleep till 5 30 so my usual 45 hours, albeit with a break
Back to work today after a week of a very nasty cold can’t wait it’s been sooo boring stuck at home

JamesandJon33 Thu 22-Jan-26 05:35:17

I woke at 2 as DH was snoring. I can usually tell if he is set for the long haul, so wake him and he goes into another bedroom. But not tonight. So I read for an hour and then drifted back to sleep. Just woken up again and he is still at it. I shall wake him at six for tea.

grandMattie Thu 22-Jan-26 04:56:26

Poor you!

Nannytopsy Thu 22-Jan-26 04:41:41

Thank you! Now taken cocodamol which isn’t ideal. I will be very dopey all day now.
My brain is full of things I haven’t got done, particularly in the garden, which I just don’t have time for now. The weather isn’t good for the next week, so I don’t expect to get it all done.
DH has a CPAP mask which is hissing away and annoying me so sleep looks more distant!
