Good morning to all the night owls
I m late waking this morning and seem to have missed my
3 am slot however 4.30 am will do ( 4 and a half hours is positively a very long sleep for me) who knows I might even drop of again for a doze before I get up at 6 ready for some work
So who s around ?

Coffee and cake at the Ivy sounds lovely Nankate
It is some years since I went.
It is lashing down with rain here, so dark and miserable.
I have a friend calling late afternoon, a festive drink may be called for, I have been off alcohol with my cold but may be tempted….
An afternoon nap may be the first thing though, strange how it becomes the norm.

Aveline Tue 09-Dec-25 09:01:21

Another broken up night. It's bucketing down outside so I'll get drenched when I go to the optician. However, soup making when I'm back home, a good book, the prospect of a nap and the last ever episode of Foyle's War to look forward to.

A bit of an erratic seep ,but no long pause in the middle. Woke up with a tremor in one eye which was a bit worrying, but that soon stopped.
Enjoy your outing NanKate

My nap is postponed, my S is putting my outside lights up and things like connections are missing.
I must help to look for them or war will break out as he he is blaming his D, saying she put them away last year.
Sometimes family are too much.

The trip to the Ivy was lovely. I got the waiter to move us somewhere quiet, as I could not hear properly and we were taken to the quiet end. Had coffee and toast and marmalade and just chatted to my old friend.

I wonder what is in store for me tonight regarding sleeping. I might grade myself from abysmal to reasonable.

I’ve never been affected by caffeine but drank a can of Diet Coke yesterday late afternoon and had a very bad night. I drink it rarely and wonder if it was that keeping me awake many hours later?

MayBee70 Tue 09-Dec-25 16:19:11

If I have a cup of caffeinated coffee in late afternoon I’m awake all night. I have one cup mid morning to wake me up.

Mollygo Wed 10-Dec-25 00:20:58

Caffeine is weird. DH can drink coffee throughout the day, with no impact on his sleep, either in a chair or when we go to bed. I tend to avoid tea after 9pm, but on the other hand, if I wake and can’t drop off to sleep around 03.30 a cup of tea will soon send me to sleep.

RosesandLilac Wed 10-Dec-25 00:40:15

‘Tis frustrating, I’ve slept for a couple of hours and now I’m wide awake; I had 9 hours sleep last night and I have no idea why I’m awake tonight.
Caffeine doesn’t adversely affect me either, unless it’s very strong ground coffee. I have it quite weak so that’s probably why?

Usedtobeblonde Wed 10-Dec-25 01:55:07

I came up about 8:30 and must have gone to sleep fairly soon after quite a busy day.
I then woke at 11;30 and am still awake.
I read for a while and I have just been down for a cup of tea to bring back up.
I didn’t have any milk up here so I couldn’t just make one.
The wind has quietened down from earlier, I hope all further North are safe.

ferry23 Wed 10-Dec-25 02:35:48

Oh boy. 2.30 and I'm wide awake. Might wrap some presents then have a cuppa and see if I can get a few more hours.

Having got hooked after watching The Celebrity Traitors, I've spent my nights watching Australian version and halfway through the 1st British season. Preferred the Aussie version. NZ next on the list.

JamesandJon33 Wed 10-Dec-25 03:06:42

Morning everyone. The wee small hours again. DH fast asleep so minimal movement. Will read my kindle for a while then try to go back to sleep.

Grandmabatty Wed 10-Dec-25 04:03:40

It's been a night of waking every hour or so. I'm a bit scunnered with it. Fortunately there's nowhere I need to be tomorrow. The wind seems to have died down here.

grandMattie Wed 10-Dec-25 04:10:59

What few hours I had were continuous, but I’ve had barely 4 hours and have a busy day ahead, so won’t have time for a nap.
I was reasonably content with 5 hours + nap, but this is stupid.
The wind hasn’t kept me awake, nor my brain worrying about something either…
I could scream when I read articles about keeping healthy and am told to sleep well, at least 6-7 hours. If only!

Nannytopsy Wed 10-Dec-25 04:14:21

Hip has woken me again. Tonight it’s bad enough for cocodamol, which I am just letting take effect before I lie down again. At least I will sleep once it’s worked.
It’s our WI Christmas lunch today and I have baking to do as I am on the charity cafe tomorrow. Sausage rolls and a cake. Then I have hardly a spare moment until Monday. And none of it organised by me 🤬
I hope you all get some more sleep.
X

Good early morning to everyone. I am awake with probably no chance of nodding off again. Only have the dentist today at midday so no rush to get up. Infuriatingly I nodded off twice in front of the TV yesterday when watching the programme about the Monarchy and money.

Gymstagran Wed 10-Dec-25 04:53:36

Been awake since 3.30 just wondering if I can get some more sleep or if its too late /early morning. Christmas lunch later nothing much before.

Wyllow3 Wed 10-Dec-25 04:57:48

A very bad nightmare night. Seems everlasting. I just want the day to come!
Strength to those with busy days ahead, mine is not.

cornergran Wed 10-Dec-25 06:07:36

Four hours last night, normal service resumed. We were very busy yesterday, it seemed my body couldn’t stop. Today is also an active one, oh well, see what this night brings. I’ll not worry about it, that definitely won’t help.

BlueBelle Wed 10-Dec-25 06:09:26

I ve slept long and hard last night midnight to 5 am Very weird only just woken never normally happens to me
Anyway got to get myself showered and ready for work at 8am I normally get up no later than 6.15
Nightmares are so horrible wyllow and I hope all those waking in pain get some relief

Erica23 Wed 10-Dec-25 07:55:09

Both me and DH awake at 2.30am took us until about 4.30 to drop off again. Up again at 6 even though we don’t need to get up.
Visiting relatives today, and school pick up so nothing too tiring.

J52 Wed 10-Dec-25 08:53:44

I had a good sleep last night. I listened to a drama on BBC Sounds, with my earbuds in. I was asleep within 10 mins. This trick doesn’t alway work. Hope those sleep deprived catch up tonight.

BlueBelle Thu 11-Dec-25 01:26:02

Oh that’s a bad one 1.15 and awake ,,,,it’s the cramp again this time in the top of my foot I tried the pickle juice without any luck but my son, who is an athlete had heard of it so it’s obviously well known
I hope everyone else is OK x

Nandalot Thu 11-Dec-25 01:59:17

Dropped off quickly tonight but woke after an hour..never a good sign. Wide awake now.
BlueBelle have you tried magnesium for cramp? As well as tablets, I believe there is a spray to apply to affected area.

Elrel Thu 11-Dec-25 02:44:53

So good to find other people awake in the small hours. Painful right wrist (ganglion?) yesterday made opening a can of beans a messy half hour job. Hard to get dressed, nervous to shower one handed. Family coming, 3 from 100miles away, at weekend, it was to be our usual ‘pre-Christmas’ but I had violent stomach pain last week (ate so little I lost 5lb) so hadn’t even managed to put in the big order. Most things I needed were either out of stock or not yet available. I am greatly relieved that son and his older daughters have suggested that we book a table for lunch for 10 at Nando’s which most of us like. Very thoughtful as he is vegan!
