A thread for the 3 am crew

I woke up for the third time about 3:15 with the cat lying on my legs, she jumped off when I got up to go to the loo .
I have read for a while, checked my banking app as the month is coming to an end and been to the loo again.
The cat has appeared again and settled down.
I feel too cosy to go down for a drink so will look for a new book on Kindle Unlimited.
Might get a taxi to the supermarket tomorrow morning and get some last bits as I haven’t got a delivery this week.
No major shopping to do as we are out on Christmas day and other days catered for, nothing special happening .

I have had 5 hours sleep which is pretty good these days. Again, it’s the hip which has woken me. Yesterday I wrapped presents and decorated the Christmas cake plus sorted the bed for littlest DGS. He has moved out of the cot and his little sister will move into it for the first time. I hope they settle! They arrive on Tuesday with their minders and there is a lot to do by then. All presents to be wrapped and hidden, which will allow us to reclaim the dining room. He is asking how Father Christmas will get in because we haven’t got a chimney!
We went to a Carol service at DiL’s church last night. It’s an evangelical American organisation and the “carols” were played by a rock band. Need I say more?
I hope you all get a nap today and sleep long and deeply tonight!

I m going to visit my oldest friend today ( oldest in age and length of time) she s older than me and now housebound and doesn’t live in a very accessible area for me to get to so I don’t see so much of her now but we ll have a good laugh

I had a bad night. Just couldn't get off to sleep then when I did I had to get up twice for loo visits. Nodded off again then woken by cat having some sort of feline emergency that meant he had to stretch up and pat my face. I woke with a start and couldn't get back to sleep. I look a wreck just when I want to look presentable for a posh lunch out. Och!

I was fast asleep at 9 but then unusual for me I was awake again at 10.30. Took me ages to get back to sleep, probably a couple of hours, fully awake at 5. I’m really hoping I can settle down after Christmas.

Well I did manage to get to sleep! And I did listen to a meditation thing - on the NHS page. I didn't think it was working at first and then it did - out like a light by the end of it. I'm looking for a better one now as the start of that one talks about sleeping difficulties, which I already know!

Hello. I’ve been awake for an hour too. As you say, Terribull, very annoying.
Fortunately,I have an empty day today and can have a sleep after lunch.
Little cooking, no reason to go out, all presents wrapped - a boring day. Only some laundry, and how to pack my case with all the bits for the family.
I shall probably uncharacteristically do some dusting. The floor needs washing. Ah well.

Morning all just joining you all, slept cosily until 4.30 just lying playing my games till I get up at 6
Busy day work at 8 then straight from work to the hairdressers for a trim and tidy at 3pm probably eat and nod off when I get home

Up early again...no point just lying there once you're fully awake. I'm trying to finish the book I was reading so that I can add it to the pile for the charity shop. I keep trying to clear my book shelves. Trouble is, I come back with as many books as I donate so I'm never any better off.

I play games too! Read the papers and the Beeb, my book, drink at least two large mugs of (decaff) coffee…. Then wait until 630ish before getting up.

Does anyone else find a busy day means they find it harder to get to sleep? Ages going off and wide awake at 4. I’m trying not to dwell on just 3 hairs sleep. Not to worry, the shopping list is done so no need to think too much today. Once last minute bits are purchased I’ll feed the washing machine and join you in dust removal grandmattie. I’m looking forward to a quiet day tomorrow

I laughed at the three hairs sleeping I just had an image of the 3 hairs snuggled up with all the rest of the hairs standing on end having a party … just me I know

I've tried to rest yesterday ,but had Christmas obligations.
And today after a bad night coughing I've got stuff to do at church . I've been awake since three .
There's an increasing shortage of we volunteers.
There's one thing that I dislike at my church - they really put the squeeze on making you feel guilty if you don't sign up for voluntary work .
I might manage the morning ,but I don't think that I'll last out all day.
And when tiredness brings coughing on -I'm coming home to rest .

A brief interval between 2 and 3 , then straight till 6:30. Must have been all the work we did yesterday, getting the house ready for the family due tomorrow. Hooray.

Hello! Wide awake but not particularly bushy-tailed here.
There are lights on in the house opposite where they have gorgeous twin girls who are 6 months old.
Christmas is going to be very quiet here, not that I’m complaining in the slightest, it suits me fine.
I noticed yesterday that there are catkins out already as well as snowdrops and crocuses, very early I think. At least there isn’t any rain forecast for the next week or so.

I have to get up early for the Christmas family quiz devised by DD at an hour that means her NZ brother can join.

Scottish Power are coming at 9am to
Prepare my house for a smart meter.

I hope some of us can have a couple more hours. 😴 💤 🛏

wide awake since just before 3, convinced it was 7, had a wee and glass of water, considering a mug of Ovaltine, wondering
if I really am hungry and should I have weetabix and milk.

There is a sandwich board outside our local Health Store asking ‘tired of waking at 3am?’ come in for …
this means it’s a thing I suppose, for which nature has a cure.
I have valerian, if my mind is racing I will take 2 but as with anything, I don’t want to become dependent.

Sleeplessness At home is manageable, I’m not disturbing anyone, but today I am travelling to family,
now anxious that my nocturnal peregrinations will wake others, being on one level, but at least I won’t be falling down the stairs whilst heading for the kitchen.

Saturday I fell back to sleep at 5am then didn’t wake until 9.20! which set me wrong for the day, all impetus lost, groggy with a thick head.
I have worked out that a heated bedroom is not conducive to a good night’s sleep for me, an open window is, unless it is misty and damp, when it isn’t.

Good morning. Woke up an hour ago, but switched the light on just now, cuppa and iPad now in action.
I have accepted that this is going to be forever. I have always been a lark.
The only thing I occasionally have is an antihistamine. If at someone’s, I try to stay in bed as late as possible with a good book.

Wide awake since 2.45am and thinking "48 hours from now and I can bury this Christmas madhouse mania until 1 October 2027 when it all bloody well kicks off again!"

The 'AmandaLand' promised Xmas episode had better be good enough to make up for the nervous breakdown......

Woke up at three coughing and I feel like rubbish .
I caught sight of myself in the vestry mirror yesterday and thought that I look absolutely terrible - as white as a sheet with two great Panda eyes - despite the make up .
Not sure how long I'd slept for.
Had a hot vitamin C blackcurrant drink and paracetamol .
I'm watching TV and contemplating another drink .
