Good morning to all the night owls
I m late waking this morning and seem to have missed my
3 am slot however 4.30 am will do ( 4 and a half hours is positively a very long sleep for me) who knows I might even drop of again for a doze before I get up at 6 ready for some work
So who s around ?

rafichagran Fri 28-Nov-25 10:25:48

Went to bed at 3.30, I just couldn't not sleep, got up at 9.40. I am going out with friends later for lunch. Have a good day everyone.

Aveline Fri 28-Nov-25 08:48:53

So true Wyllow. Also, everything always seems extra worrying as you lie awake in the night.

Wyllow3 Fri 28-Nov-25 07:53:14

Bless NanKate we have to try and look on the bright side however hard.
I did go back to sleep a short while, but something very troubling was on my mind - I doubt I was the only one as people have alluded to above.
But it strongly helps just to pop in and say something about the weather, funny, isnt it, its the "company not being alone" thingy..

NanKate Fri 28-Nov-25 07:47:43

Had a totally rubbish night but I’m still breathing so I have to be grateful for that. 😏

BlueBelle Fri 28-Nov-25 06:55:39

Morning all I have been awake since 5 30 but only just got on my iPad I had a brilliant night… midnight until 5.30 5 and a half hours at a stretch will do me very nicely I m cosy but my hands are freezing
Don’t know wha to do with myself today I really need structure in my life and don’t like these wet cold dull days with no real plan
Anyway have a good day everyone and so glad we have found our clan

Aveline Fri 28-Nov-25 06:31:11

It embarrassed to post here today. After the awful day yesterday (the outdoor funeral was dreadful. Heavy rain and strong winds) and, having taken travel sick pills as it was a long twisty drive, I slept like a log from 8.45-4 then 4.15- 6. A record for me. Another wet and windy day ahead but lunch with old friends.

Erica23 Fri 28-Nov-25 06:30:47

Morning I tried to stay awake until later last night made it until 10pm, then awake at 12.45am really thought it was morning ! So disappointing.
Went back to sleep quickly thank goodness, awake again at 4.45. I remember last year having terrible sleep leading up to Christmas, I don’t feel anxious about it, but must admit the first thing that popped into my mind this morning was what time would my parcels be here today 🙄

Astitchintime Fri 28-Nov-25 06:08:51

Good morning………I nearly came by at 4am but didn’t want to wake Mr A. Managed to lay there in bed without fidgeting too much (I do that when I’m restless) and was wide awake until 5.15.
I think it’s the time of year as I do find Christmas difficult.
A busy day ahead so the slow cooker will go on after breakfast - veggies already prepped last evening so I just need to drain those, add the diced beef, stock etc and that’s dinner sorted.

Aldom Fri 28-Nov-25 06:06:31

I too have been awake since 4am. I came downstairs sometime after 5am and made a coffee.
Had a problem with a window that wouldn't close last night (ground floor). No locksmith available until this morning sometime. I put the stainless steel kitchen waste bin behind the kitchen door..... just incase someone got in through the window.....at least it would make a lot of noise if anyone tried to open the door. grin

HelterSkelter1 Fri 28-Nov-25 05:54:09

Awake here too in N Surrey. It doesnt feel so cold. I slept from about 9 last night till 12. Then from 2 till 5.30. Oh for those days of sleeping from 11 till 7.30..
I have coffee and will read from now. I am re reading after a gap of a few years The Forsyte Saga. And will read it more carefully. I am guilty of reading too quickly and when I pick up a book after a few years it's as if I have never read it before. So just 2 chapters at a timr or even just one as they are quite long.

My picture of Irene is nothing like any of the 3 actresses I have seen on TV. But I can picture June as the actress in the Damien Lewis version. Small, dark and sparkling. I have to read a book several times for it to really sink in and stay in. I am easily distracted.

I am wideawake and don't think I will drift off again this morning. I must do some hoovering today. Well Bosching with a new small Bosch vacuum ckeaner which has amazing suction and is so much lighter than my very old (25 years) Dyson which I was pleased to see the back of. My back was pleased to see the back of it.
Right Forsytes here I come.

JamesandJon33 Fri 28-Nov-25 05:53:36

Bore da everyone. 4:30 this morning so not too bad. Read my kindle for a while and now on here. DH should wake soon…I need a cup of tea.

Purplepixie Fri 28-Nov-25 05:44:13

Hi all.
A great thread. I woke at 4am. Read the news and played a couple of games. Trying to stay in bed until at least 7 am. Have a good day.

grandMattie Fri 28-Nov-25 05:15:09

Well done, bluebell for starting this thread. Who knew how popular it would be?

grandMattie Fri 28-Nov-25 05:14:07

I’ve been awake for an hour, have had a hot drink, read the papers and am now here. I’ll have a nap after lunch as usual.
I can’t see the stars in this flat, there are too many lights, including one right outside my window. I once counted 11 just in a 20m radius. I miss seeing stars and moon.
I’ll play my computer games, read my book and think before getting up for the paper between 630 and 7 as usual.

Wyllow3 Fri 28-Nov-25 05:04:51

There are stars out but I cant find the crescent moon. I've injured my knee so it will be a hobble round Sainsburys later!
Shedding un-used "stuff", is always good.

RosesandLilac Fri 28-Nov-25 04:58:20

Good morning, I’ve been awake for an hour or so too grandMattie 🙄, I’ve given up on getting back to sleep.
It’s wet out so another muddy dog walk, they don’t seem to mind luckily.
I’ve got art group this morning, I have no idea what I’ll be doing so I need to think of something to take.
I did tidy my food cupboards yesterday, I definitely have enough food for several months 😵‍💫 but that’s not a bad thing as we get totally cut off in bad weather, should it snow.
At least I just need to do the cupboard that has miscellaneous utensils etc in, I could probably get rid of some!

Grammaretto Fri 28-Nov-25 03:01:51

I hope you get a chance for a nap later on Shirley. I sometimes find that getting up, going to the loo, bringing a hot drink back to bed, putting the radio on makes me so tired I go back to sleep.
However I am on my own so can do this.
Night night.

Shirleyw Fri 28-Nov-25 02:52:09

Morning all….i thought I’d of slept longer tonight as met my sister in Salisbury for the day, left 6.45 and back 20.00 and walking around for most part of the day you’d of thought I’d of slept for longer …🙄.

Esmay Thu 27-Nov-25 08:21:59

I had a restless night - awake at midnight then , three then , five .
I noticed that if I have a day in which I do a lot of physical work as I used to then I sleep better .
Yesterday , I was achy and sat a great deal hence my bad night..

Usedtobeblonde Thu 27-Nov-25 08:19:02

I went back to sleep after reading the first few posts on Good Morning, so probably just before 6 and woke about 7:30 .
Just waiting for my GD to bring me tea in bed before she goes to work, how lucky am I?

Wyllow3 Thu 27-Nov-25 08:09:26

Nothing is ever like ones very own bed, is there.

TerriBull Thu 27-Nov-25 08:03:38

Staying with friends in Cotswolds, wonderfull comfortable bed, but alas didn't sleep well out of my usual environment. Did go off into a deep sleep towards the morning, have only just woken. I have to be mindful.of low beam when getting out of bed it could be pretty lethal.shock

Erica23 Thu 27-Nov-25 07:42:49

Well I was asleep for 10pm it was a very long day yesterday from 4am didn’t manage a nap. Woke at 3am took a paracetamol and half a night gummie, back to sleep for 3.30 woke at 6 so not too bad really, just wish I didn’t need to take painkillers.

Aveline Thu 27-Nov-25 06:56:08

Well I struck lucky and didn't wake till 6. My Fitbit tells me it was quite a good quality sleep. Ooh how it patronises me!
It does seem a bit warmer however it's very wet and we're going to a funeral today. No church service just a burial. Rather a grim prospect.

BlueBelle Thu 27-Nov-25 06:51:21

Morning all I ve been awake but my internet hasn’t having bad troubles with it snd as soon as I arrange for the chap to come out it comes back on and works perfectly then i go to post and if s off again I cant seem to get past a BOT who sent me 20, yes 20 texts yesterday and 6 phone calls which came after it had righted itself and come back to normal so I d say thanks but alls OK now then after I d hung up it would be gone again So if I too am intermittent over a few days you ll understand why
