Good morning all from a sunny Black country it was very frosty when I went bed but had cleared by this morning.
Late this morning trying to get organised before they come to change our meter.
DS has messaged to say he and the boys are at home with suspected covid, we were with them on Friday for Dgs birthday.
Best wishes for anyone celebrating, safe travels those on the move and hope all medical appointments are trouble free.
Have the best day you can everyone whatever your plans and may you all find a little bit of ☀️.

Good Morning from a pleasantly bright Co Armagh
We had a lovely day out yesterday , it was cold !
We were walking round an NT garden and I was told , don’t stop to look at things unless we are in the sun 🤣
It was amazing how much colour was still on show , lots of lovely geraniums and bushes of Fuschia
It was nice to be able to be out in the crisp fresh air , I’m thinking of seeing if there is a quieter rollator , I can’t manage without it , especially the seat to get a sit down , a couple of moments and I’m off again
Hoping for a good day for us all

Ziplok Tue 18-Nov-25 09:34:42

Good morning,
It was very cold but bright yesterday, whereas today it’s very cold and dull. I doubt the sun will get out today.
Nothing much planned for today other than the usual run of the mill household things.
Hope you have a good day, and sending thoughts to all of you with troubles, worries and concerns 💐.

Susan56 Tue 18-Nov-25 09:31:37

Happy birthday to Dollie 🥳
She’s two days older than our granddaughter!

Georgesgran Tue 18-Nov-25 09:29:20

Good Morning from a cold, wet Durham. So cold yesterday, I bought Little Dog a coat in Next. I’ve woken with an almighty headache, I don’t think starting to clean the tumble dryer filters at 2am was a good idea! I’ll put it back together today.
I have a hair appointment late morning, then will walk Little Dog before dark. His stay changes my lifestyle.
Hoping MrFGT’s hospital visit goes well today and he can tolerate the treatment. I always found DH’s illness harder to handle during the darker months, as did he. Like harrigran he worked away for years - I actually found it quite difficult when he retired at 56 and came home permanently.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from a damp northwest coast. A quiet day yesterday with FaceTimes with DD and sister in the south.
Today to the music club and as one of the organisers is back in hospital, I’m in charge on the desk again. I avoid the tea making. Will have a warble this morning and choose my songs.
Thoughts to the FGTs and all with worries.

Ladyleftfieldlover (or anyone)what is the meaning of the box symbol you use?🤔

Grandmabatty Tue 18-Nov-25 09:26:26

Happy birthday Dollie

Hoping your granddaughter improves soon Sar
All the best to the FGTs and to you llfl

Morning all, very late for us, it’s grey and cold, scraped ice after quiz last night where I drank two pints of lime and soda, that might explain my up/down night!!
Voluntary phone yesterday was quiet.
Not read yet, but have a pleasant day all.

Good morning from a grey and cold NE, we have a forecast for snow too.
I remembered to put the overcoat on the outside tap last night, don't want it freezing.
Felt chilled at bedtime last night so put a fleece blanket over the duvet and slept for eight hours.
Pain is easing in my left hand which means I can use it again.
Safe journey to your DH Ashcombe, I know what it is like as my DH and I lived apart for 16 years.
Thoughts are with poorly people and their carers.

Good morning all from acold Glasgow, where it is 2°C.

This cold weather is badly affecting my joints, especially my hands and hips. I am like the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz, creaking along. It did not help, that I got out of my car, to find I had lost my walking stick. It is always in the front seat of my car, but it was nowhere to be seen.
Then it dawned on me, the last time I had it was in the hardware store. I was too busy chatting, I left it resting against the counter.

That totally scuppered my plans of getting the keys made, while I picked up my prescriptions, then going to church.
I went into Timpsons, to find the key cutting blade had broken, so no keys made.😪
Then I drove along to the hardware store, where I saw my stick hanging on a hook! Relief!
I explained that there was difficulty cutting the keys yesterday and I couldn't get them done anywhere.
The assistant asked to see the key and said he could do it. I left with not only the keys, but an outside Christmas decoration!!
I was so late for Mass, I lurked at the back of the church.

After Mass, I was doing a bit of tidying up and went looking for the P,P. I couldn't find him, but heard the most beautiful music coming from one of the rooms. He has a grand piano and was playing with great skill. I would have sworn I was in a concert hall.
I couldn't bear to disturb him and resorted to messaging him instead.
Late last night, he phoned in a panic, the local Minister is coming this morning, but they have no leads to hook up the projector to the laptop. and had no idea what they needed and what to buy. Fortunately I did.
I contacted a parishioner, a former colleague, whose husband was the IT technician for our schools, he is going to deal with it.
I am learning to delegate.
I have been absolved of my responsibilities today and have a free morning. A rare event! Yippee!!

Baubles, what a beautiful idea, leaving a legacy for future grandchildren. 💕

It is Dollie's tenth birthday today. I was very ill, when she was born, and just about to retire on health grounds. I was very low and this wee girl lifted me up and gave me hope.💕

Blossoming, is very quiet, or have I just missed her?

sar, I keep thinking of your granddaughter, my son was exactly the same. It is so awful to see a loved one struggling to breathe.
In fact I got rid of our forty year old family nebuliser at the weekend. It kept us both out of hospital on many an occasion.

I wish you all the best days possible, especially those struggling.

ginny Tue 18-Nov-25 08:44:41

Good morning from a very chilly but dry N.Bucks.
Enjoyed my reconnaissance outing yesterday and also watching the film’Choral’ .
Out with DH today and hopefully make a start on Christmas goodies. We also need to buy a curtain pole for new curtains once the lounge is decorated .
Choir practice this evening.
Wishing all our unwell GNs or family members who are unwell a healing day and a good day for all.

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 18-Nov-25 08:39:48

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

Our gardener is coming this morning. There is quite a bit of tidying up to do and a few pots needs putting under cover.

I have a telephone appointment at 12 noon to talk about my forthcoming colonoscopy. I’ve been told to allow 45 minutes for the call. I’ve had the procedure twice before so maybe I won’t need as long.

Yesterday’s drive back from Kew was in glorious sunshine. The last section over the Downs was beautiful.

Have a good day. Thinking of the FGT2S. 🪻

Grammaretto Tue 18-Nov-25 08:27:25

Good day everyone on this icy cold morning, from the Scottish Borders.
The grass was white but is melting.

Yesterday I spent an hour raking leaves for compost in warm sunshine.

Not sure what's happening today. My podiatrist clinic has sent a message cancelling as my clinician is in hospital.
Gaelic may be off tonight too due to teacher illness so just an exercise class and picking up a friend from the garage where she's leaving her car for repair. Then she's borrowing my car as she needs one more than I do.
Complicated!

Glad to hear himself is stable FGT
Your DD must be a worry Sar

I managed a bit more of the sweater I'm knitting so am sending off for more wool. other knitters will know the excitement!

Hope you all have some joy today.

Kalu Tue 18-Nov-25 08:24:52

Good morning all. A balmy 5Deg in Glasgow, heavy rain which is due to stop soon for a break until late afternoon when there may be a chance of light snow. It is currently snowing in Perthshire according to family who live in Crieff.

I was doing some craftwork using gorilla glue yesterday, terrific stuff but I got it on my fingertips which, as I can’t remove it, stops me using Touch ID on my phone and iPad. I suppose it will wear off in time. Supermarket shop at some point but I think it will be Sainsbury’s today which has a covered car park which saves me a mad dash in the rain.

Best wishes to all for a good day.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 18-Nov-25 08:17:10

Gingster I have four family birthdays in December, DS4 has an 0 birthday and DH is 75 a couple of days before Father Christmas arrives.

Which is why I have to be organised, too many children and grandchildren (perhaps we should have watched more to 😹)

Grandmabatty Tue 18-Nov-25 08:13:02

Madeleine I think you are correct about the leg issues! Apart from the damage that was inflicted by my trip, I have peripheral neuropathy and nerve pain in my feet which always seems worse at night. Most days I can thole it but childcare days are more challenging. The boys are eating breakfast: dgs2 had Weetabix and dgs1 honey nut flakes. They are being very good this morning and dgs2 is very excited for his birthday tomorrow.

NannyJan53 Tue 18-Nov-25 08:11:34

Good morning from a bright blue skied Black Country.

Same yesterday, but very cold. Line Dancing in the afternoon warmed me up!

Walking group walk this morning. The Thursday group do extra walks on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays in the month. Then I need to drive over to Mums this afternoon to take her food shopping, and top up her tables in the Dossett box.

MrJ has a hospital appointment this morning to look at a suspicious lump on his head.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Grannydaisy1 Tue 18-Nov-25 08:07:31

Fgt2 Hoping everything goes well for himself today. Take care

Good morning from a beautiful golden sunny Suffolk. There is frost on the ground and it feels dry chilly although the house is warm and cosy.

DH is out this morning so I’ll walk the little dog and then will be off to meet one of my closest friends for lunch. We decided last evening that it might be too cold for our regular walk by the sea but might change our minds!

Hope today has some sun in for all.

BlueSapphire Tue 18-Nov-25 07:55:57

Good morning everyone from a grey and cold Northampton, 2°C outside, and showers expected after lunch.

Apart from yoga, a quiet day in yesterday, catching up with the weekend newspapers. Made a large hotpot in the slow cooker and have got five portions out of it. Enjoyed one last night, then four to go in the freezer this morning. I think I fancy a Bolognese tonight.

A bit of pottering this morning, then weather depending, out to join my walking group after lunch.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Good morning Mick and all GN's on this cold, still, very dark North Yorkshire morning. Can just about make out the outline of the tree, leaveless now , against the sky.

I am listening to some great music, and there has been Hildegarde of Bingham on and looking forward to my J S Bach very soon. It has been a horrible night and I need every bit of cheering up that is available. After all my efforts yesterday I had hoped for a decent nights sleep, but no chance. My leg was hurting so much, I couldnt find one position where it didnt ache and throb and threaten to cramp up. Eventually dropped off to sleep only to have horrible nightmare and wake panting. It has been like that all night. I have read something cheering and easy, put some music on very low, put the birdsong on about 4.30am but whatever I did, every time I fell asleep more nightmares and horrible wakings. So I am now feeling totally exhausted, annoyed and with no more ideas as to how to improve matters. Lack of sleep does make everything harder for me, and it seems to add to pains. Yesterday I caught a nail and it ripped across quite a way down, so has been sore and even typing with it it catches , but things like that I can usually register but just ignore but that and a couple of bruises are adding to the variety of painful things today. Oh I am just feeling a misery, so will just wait for my best medicine Bach and then I shall go and have a shower and wash my hair and never mind "wash that man right out of my hair" I shall wash all this rubbish out of my mind (I hope!)

Havent any idea why all this rubbish is happening. Yesterday was bitterly cold here and so I only stuck my nose out to put rubbish out. It looked lovely and sunny but the minute you stepped outside you certainly felt it. My idea for the day worked quite well, as I decided that a warming job would mean I didnt need to put the heating on high, and so it was. After one or two ordinary jobs I set up the fortress! Well by that I mean it looked like a plan of campaign as I got organised with the ironing mountain. Got the washing sorted into hot down to cool at the end of the ironing board, with the clothes horse at the other end to put ironed stuff on. Radio 3 playing some lovely music, the iron ready steamed up and the tv controller at my side. So it began, and carried on with only short breaks for the loo and coffee until about 1.45pm , when with an aching back and weariness I stopped, and made myself some lunch and had a lie down flat on my bed to try and uncreak my body. I poked my nose out and stuck the rubbish out, with a faint idea of a bit of a walk, but oh no, now I cannot walk at a brisk pace I would probably have frozen into an ice statue with the coldness and wind chill factor.

So it was a quick return inside and with a sigh, continuing on with the ironing, but there was a good play on and decent music and I also watched Downton Abbey on the box, which I had seen before of course, but the dowager duchess - Maggie Smith - is always good to watch and I enjoyed it. Got a good way down and was wondering if I should carry on , but suddenly felt I had had quite enough and so left less than a third to be done today and made myself a very well earned coffee and even had a couple of biscuits to reward myself for a lot of hard work done. So at least now I have a grand selection of underwear and tops to choose from today. All the clean ironing is in the airing cupboard and so the plan is to finish the flipping lot this morning and get round to going through the wardrobes and drawers , moving any summer stuff out etc, which I didnt get round to doing yesterday. So after such a mammoth days effort (medal medal as Muttley used to say!) I thought I at least might be rewarded with a decent nights sleep and no such luck!!

Well just heard Bach so that is a good start and have a fleece blanket wrapped round me keeping me warm as I type. Keep peeping through the curtains and a little more light coming through but very cold and still. I do plan to go out today, for a couple of bits of shopping, and also want to speak to the tech genius at upfront. I do not know why but have a few odd things with the printer and I expect he will be able to sort it in a flash after my trying various unsuccessful ploys here.

Think it will be in the car though, bit too cold for the yellow peril. I am going to get that aeroplane calendar for my grandson and hope he likes it. I have a waterstone card but can I find it can I beggary, so another small irritation to sort this morning. Well tonight I am planning to go to the games night. Missed it last week and hopefully it will be a game I can enjoy and get my mind working on, and I would rather wake up trying to solve those innocent problems than more wretched nightmares. It will be good to meet up with some intelligent people who will get my mind going in other directions and looking outward which should be better.

I dont envy my daughter in law at the moment, as overall she will be pleased, her mother has given them a new kitchen layout, but of course that means that at the moment they are in the dirtyish and most messy state, with workmen making a major upheaval and she is having to take washing round to her mums , who fortunately for her lives close by, and also cook there. She is quite houseproud and very tidy and neat and I remember when I was in a similar position and how horrible it was and I am much less houseproud than she is. So I think she is having to grit her teeth and manage the best she can, but they should be past the worst by the end of the week, and then she will be pleased with the result , I hope.

Today my other plans are to finish what didnt get done yesterday, get all appointments etc on to the calendar so that I can see what dates are free and then hopefully organise a meet up with them on a saturday before christmas. I did start looking at Airbandb but couldnt seem to find anything suitable so gave up, but after christmas I would think that there will be more vacancies and if I can find somewhere suitable then for either the Morecambe area or even the lower lake district , then hopefully it will give me somewhere for the future if I need to get over there to see them. At the moment anything I have looked at is either too expensive or totally booked up. A more cheering thing to do today is to hunt out my Flanders and Swann book which seems to have disappeared somewhere. I must look up some suitable songs and start practising, so that will be very cheering . I think Mud Mud glorious Mud will definitely be one of the songs to take. A lot of people will know that one I am sure.

Hope that the car will start and go well this morning. Havent been anywhere in it for a couple of days and it could probably do with a bit of a run out as have only been out and about locally for the last few days and some of that was on the yellow peril. It is too cold to plan a trip up Swaledale today, but havent been for quite a while so I shall see when I can plan a trip up there. That will cheer my spirit as it always does and it will be quite pleasant to see all the christmas lights and stuff so long as I dont have to be parking up in the scrum. So nothing exciting to think about yet but I am at least pleased with the lowering of the ironing mountain to a high hill!

Micheal hope that you get off ok on your trip to Bicester and meet up with some pals. GrandMattie get the armour on for the joust with Teflon man. We are all rooting for you. You succeeded with the heater - finally - so build on your success and give him a steely stare and may you win the next battle of the teflon war!! Corner gran hope that you manage to get to your garden centre lunch today. Grandmabatty, sadly we seem to be matching with rubbish nights and bad legs. Hope yours improves and you manage a quick nap. I am trying to stay awake as if I go to sleep I will then have another rubbish night. What a pity God forgot to put a neat switch marked sleep on it attached to our leg or something!

I hope everyone has an improving day (including me) whether that is a job well done, a pleasant meet up with friends or in any case a day free of hassle and strife

Gingster Tue 18-Nov-25 07:50:34

Good morning all and it’s very 🥶. I’m wondering whether to light the woodburner. I’m in and out today and Dh can’t really deal with it, so we’ll just leave the CH on.

sar so sad for your lovely Gd to be poorly during these teenage years. Hopefully things will improve for her. There must be something the medics can do to help her. 🙏

Baubles what a lovely idea to make and leave your handiwork for future generations. I think I’ll pinch that idea. I’ve Crochetted blankets for all 8 GC, so I think I’ll start and ‘leave a stash’ for little ones to come.♥️.

GG you are ahead of the game. 🎄. Im still concentrating on upcoming birthdays so I’m way behind you.

FGT all best wishes for you both today. 🙏.

Bridge this afternoon .

Take care everyone and keep cosy. 🧣🧤
